Scooters are fun to ride but they make you feel very vulnerable when you're on the road on one. You never know what kind of idiots you will encounter in a much larger vehicle. I always say a prayer when I get on mine.
I don't have a china scooter but I have a Honda Reflex 250 with over 70 thousand miles on it. If you take care of the scoot, the scoot will take care of you....
Mopeds were around in the 1970s I haven't seen any since then. A moped looks like a bicycle with a small engine. To start the engine all you had to do was turn the peddles.
Matowix Unplugged I've had really good luck with China scooters. They're also really easy to work on and parts are dirt cheap. My current one has done 5000km with zero issues since I installed a 72cc cylinder. Around 7500 total on it. In contrast, I had a ruckus that needed it's valves adjusted every 300 miles. It just got harder and harder to start until it just wouldn't. Chinese ones really aren't as bad as people think. The stock carbs are usually junk and most shops wont touch em so you'll have to do your own work but they can be a great deal.
My mates had his JAPANESE scooter handed down to him and it is over 15 years old. Although the countries are right next to each other, the reliability and quality are opposite ends of the spectrum...
you need to check the tires, the tread & also the psi in the tires, check the lights, blinkers front & back & the brake lights too. ty for the video, I didn't know they still made 2-stroke engines!, also check brake fluid & oil on the scooter. Check for any dings or whatever on the scooter, your right, there is always maintenance on your bike, but you should always do a pre-trip on the bike before getting on to ride.
My first scooter was a Chinese Vmoto, looking to purchase a Suzuki Verde soon, both 2 stroke. Thanks for the great advice, I learnt so much from that video!
Taking the time to explain this is a real help! A lot of RUclipsrs don't take that time and sometimes things deserve a long explanation for larger point
No doubt! Thank YOU seriously I'm looking to buy a 50 for local commute if i like it I'll take the course get bigger... Definitely one of the best videos as far as spread of information because ya need something more than 2mins or 5 tops like most to cover this subject
I never trusted two stroke injection.. especially if you add a bore kit. I've had a few DI mopeds and I just ripped out the tank &premixed. Gave me a bigger spot under the seat too. Definitely prefer four strokes though. Always been more reliable for me. I've also always just used the cheapest oil in my China scoots.. 10w30 or 40. They've also been some of the most reliable I've owned. My current has 7500km on it and has been flawless for the 5000ive put on it with 72cc kit... Cheapest kit I could get too!
Yeah I don't trust oil injection systems either all of my older snowmobiles have all had them removedbiggest reason is the only way you know that your oil injection system has given up his one-year engine gives up at the same time...
Exactly Smokey Biker. In my experience (18 years riding scooters between 125 and 600cc) there are two types of people who call scooters of all sizes mopeds. Firstly those who don't know what a moped is and assume because they have an open frame they must be mopeds, and secondly those who have been watching World Superbikes on TV and think they are mopeds because they are not race-rep sportbikes and wouldn't stand a chance on a racetrack. By the way the Peugeot Satelis 500 and my Maxsym 600 are both singles not twins.
@@Nooziterp1 yea, the people who know nothing about motorcycles are the ones who call them mopeds, or in the case of people at my college, lawnmowers.... I've heard them call Suzuki bandits lawnmowers before and the H2 is slow 😂😂😂 I thought it was a twin, must've been something else of a large CC. Cuz my dad was looking at large CC maxis and mentioned it. Maybe he was just wrong lol
Thanks a lot. Im very interested about the Honda PCX 125. Runs easily around 55-60mph. Its light, fast, looks nice and has an awesome Gas milage: 120miles/gallon or 2,7l/100km.
I love my Hondas wouldn't trade them for the world great bikes I've never owned a Honda moped/scooter unless you consider a ct90 or Trail 90 as one but I imagine they're just as reliable
Okay I’m like new to this and am like thinking of getting a scooter and watching this video the beginning was confusing and all over the game place, maybe try like making a list of points you want to hit and differences between different types like the 2/4 strokes instead of talking about 2/4 strokes and then getting off topic?
The first thing to note is that a 50 cc Moped (Or Motor Bike) Is the only thing you can ride at Min age 16, They are Max 50 cc and designed not to exceed 30 MPH. The Scooters tend to be Automatics. Pass your test on one and you get a Full Automatic Only Licence. If you opt for the Moped (Motor Bike with Gears) and pass your driving test on it you will get your Full Geared and Automatic Moped Licence. Currently if you have your Full Motor Car Licence Min age 17 and Pass the Moped Compulsory Basic Training course you will get your Full Moped Licence. Again Automatic only or Geared and Automatic. The next group A1 Min age 17 is the 125 cc Top speed about 65 MPH. Same things with regarding Gears and Automatics. The next group A2 Min age 19 restricted to 33 BHP Top Speed about 100 MPH. Then the Min age Group A Any size no restrictions, This would be like the Honda Silver Wing? Still a Scooter? I prefer the old Motor Bike version
On my scooter the belt broke when I came to a stop sign, and I was 10 mi Es away from home, I bought the scooter used and after a week everything was going out on it, so I sold it and have nicer scooters/mopeds now.
You have 2 different scooters in your video, which one do you prefer, the 50cc or the larger 150cc? I initially looked at the 50cc's but I'm thinking now about getting a larger one in the 150cc or 250cc range due to having to get a motorcycle endorsement anyway, may as well buy the larger scooter and not be as limited to the roads you can travel. Where I live many of the roads are 45mph or lower anyhow, but to me the 50cc would severely limit travel as most are 30mph or less. Also, what fuel economy have you seen between those 2 scooters? The automatic transmission setup in these is a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The clutch sheaves move in and out variably to give different speeds, no gears to shift, so its a very smooth speed transmission. Many ATV's now have this type of transmission, some cars now have these types of transmissions, a few of the Subaru automatic transmissions are CVT's.
+William Todd (williamtodd) do what i did i bought a use broken 50cc scooter it was like new only 285 mile 2 years old but the motor was shot i did a motor swap to a new 150cc but replaced the the valve cover with the old 50cc scooter one so it's stamped 50cc ...lol then later did a big bore kit to 190cc now it will run like a bat out of hell but as far as the cop think it's a 50cc ....lol so in missouri no insurance no helmet no licen plates and no taxes and all you need is a car drivers license i would like to tell you how fast it will go but it's to scary over 55mph so i've never passed 55/60mph but i had more throttle left total cost including the scooter itself was just under 500 bucks
Joseph Atnip That's great, but here in Idaho it still requires a motorcycle endorsement because they consider anything with a motor and 2 wheels a motorcycle...only in the assbackwards state of Idaho...any way to get more money out of people. So now its really not worth the hassle of getting a scooter, not to mention I'd never get to any of the courses required to get my endorsement as I work all week. Idaho is one of the most ass backwards states when it comes to this type of stuff it seems like. There are several states that don't require a course or endorsement unless its an actual motorcycle not a scooter.
every some what nice day i get in the winter i ride mine even if it's just to get smokes just down the street and let it run for a wile just to keep it working good i like your scooters they look beat to shit but that means you ride them and that's what therefore

Although Italian scooters are good, the price for purchase and maintenance are higher. So goes for the parts. I recommend japanese scooters for daily use, bang for your buck.
I've had about 10 scooters over the past 30 years. Six of them were 50cc. I will never have another 50cc I do not like running 35 mph and everything going around me. I love my 150 cc's. It will do 70 and is registered as a 50. But you really have to be careful and not run it but 30 or 35 or you will get pulled. Anything faster and the police will know it's more than a 50cc.
what is now worrying me the most is oil change before you start, i am in th UK and bought mine a chinese pulse scout 49 49cc moped, in with the money i was told that the PDI check given to all new bikes, is the oil is checked and presumably changed for the correct running oil, which statement is true, ?.
I've definitely heard the oil advice when it comes to Chinese scooters that everyone says are junk. Problem is those companies are the only ones that make the trike scooters I'm interested in
The FIRST thing you need to know is, HOW TO FIX THEM!!! Otherwise you are going to spend money for repairs. Not cheap. Oil change, $40. Auto, $15-20. Think of repair shops as trailer park mentality. Second thing is traffic. You drive for everybody else. They`re not too worried about your well being. Always anticipate them. Third thing. You better know how how to fix them. Everything else is incidental.
you could fit one to a 4-stroke yes but it would not have the same effect there is something that is the equivalent to a expansion chamber for four strokes is called a megaphone look up 4-stroke megaphones do some research on those they are used on race cars a lot
You need to have a license for endorsement in order to operate these on public roads in many states. The exhaust has nothing to do with the difference between 2 and 4 stroke engines. 2 stroke engines make 2 complete up and down movements of the piston to complete the power cycle, where a 4 stroke requires 4 complete up and down movements of the piston in order to complete the same power cycle. This is putting it extremely simple. An expansion chamber in the exhaust has nothing to do with 2 or 4 stroke engines therefore you are giving out completely wrong information to people who don't know the difference between the 2. That exhaust system you were talking about is a modification that someone added, and only changes the noise of the exhaust, again nothing to do with the difference between 2 or 4 stroke engines. The reason carbureted engines are more popular is due to price. Fuel injection costs more, requires a lot more parts and electrical systems to run the engine. Great video, but please don't complain about people correcting you about wrong engine information. You need to provide the proper information or don't mention it at all as it will just confuse those who don't know LOL. Drum brakes will last longer typically, disc brakes are more open to damage. Some newer scooters are now coming with anti-lock brakes as well.
***** You didn't keep it simple, you put out information that had nothing to do with 2 stroke VS 4 stroke engines. Like I said the exhaust has absolutely nothing to do with the difference, its how the engine itself completes a cycle. My grandfather had a 2 stroke scooter years ago, and he said it didn't last long as it really didn't like being ran under heavy load for long periods of time so it basically overheated. The newer ones are built better, but for longer life go with a 4 stroke, the added cost for an oil change is very little compared to having to repair a 2 stroke engine due to engine failure from being ran at high speed too long, the bearings don't hold up very well to that. I was looking around at getting a scooter, and anymore most of them are actually 4 stroke. I also found that anymore you have to have a license or endorsement to operate these legally on public roads regardless of engine size.
***** You should update on the license topic, I know it varies by state sometimes, but I think many are now going to the license requirement not because it needs to happen but because its another way to get money out of people. I'm really looking at getting a scooter, I live in Idaho, and this year alone there has been a huge increase in the number of scooters on the road. Gas prices are down but starting to climb back up, and people are fed up with the price. You can get a descent scooter for around $1200 and it costs about $3 to fill one up...huge difference compared to $30+ for many vehicles. Thanks for your time.
I work delivery of food on a bike I just purchased a e bike moped. I am looking into getting me one of these but I am going to work with this 500 watt 48v 25 mile per charge electric moped. But give a month I will have a moped 50cc but people keep telling me I need a license to have one of them. I live in Massachusetts Boston. So I don't know to much about this but maybe you do. Please fill me in on it thank you.
Tyrone Jennings it looks like in Massachusetts you have to be 16 and have a valid driver's license to drive a moped or scooter that includes 50cc or less
Okay thanks then it's the good thing I didn't purchased on then cause right now I just have a electric moped that has a 500 watt 48 volt I should be okay with that then till I get a license. I have peddles on mine so it shouldn't require to have one. So they say. But I do want the gas moped so I will work up to getting one.
Dude im 14 and I can get scooter/moped license! Should I get it or whait untill im 18 and get a car? Because me and my brother hes (25) we think it would be great for me to get a moped license and a moped itself!
Lone Wolf Depends where u live mabey... I am from Latvia here to drive a 49/50 cc moped u need to have license whitch requires answering 20 questions 2 can be wrong and a drive test.. not much really
+Joey Cash also depends on your neighborhood I mean they've got titles so they can't legally sell it without the title but there's always somebody out there willing to risk it
Yeah, there are different kinds of things that you can do to decrease the risk of theft, for example. anti-theft(anti-shake) alarm, GPS attached to the bike, different kinds of locks, or even securing some kind of camera to your moped bike to scare any potential thieves from trying to steal your bike as their faces will be caught on the recording, and if you park your moped near other cars or mopeds or monitored locations, it might help as well.
Carloms it's not a speedometer needle it's a tachometer and if you turn the bike on it goes up and down like a digital Gage even though it looks analog I guess you could call it a digital analog gauge and I agree I need to do more scripting on my videos make them a little more professional
my neighbor gave me a brand new Chinese scooter and it was a complete piece of t total shit fell apart, broke down , they are so shitty it should be illegal to sell them

50cc 4 stroke are to slow they donthave alot of power and takes to long to get to speed , 4 stroke 125 is fine though but i would say if your going 4 stroke make sure its geared and make sure that its 125 or higher
MrCjjones101 Don't buy made in China it's junk. The motor may last but everything around it will fall apart and fail. Chinese rubber is junk it will all fail and need to be replaced by quality rubber. The Plastic will all crack and fall apart.
+Sanitys Void Very true; however, there are some chinese scooters that are either rebranded suzuki's or 1:1 replicas in which you can replace the plastics with actual suzuki parts. If you look up the ice bear pmz300 c-f it is a 1:1 copy of the suzuki burgman. may even be a rebrand with a different engine I'm not sure, but my friend has one and put real Burgman handlebars along with a fairing kit for the actual Burgman. It's been running nice since 2012 only needing minor maitnence for the most part. It all depends which company you buy from. Most Ice Bears run real strong. Especially their pmz and pst series.

No 4-stroke doesn't need back pressure
Looking to buy a 2017 150cc bintelli bolt...any tips you can give me...just looking for some advice
Too many to count. In what area: Price, maintenance, safety, etc?
Excellent video
Then what will be the best scooters to buy on the other video the man said the Yamaha sigma is the best and the most reliable ?
Some newer scooters are now coming with anti-lock brakes as well.
i know the difference between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke I have for many years I was just keeping it simple for everybody...
+William Todd (williamtodd) well maby i will rehash this topic if you don't think it was covered well enough
Thanks for your time.
what state is this in?
That aprilla should have a warning light for the oil injection so you don't blow it up
Dude im 14 and I can get scooter/moped license! Should I get it or whait untill im 18 and get a car? Because me and my brother hes (25) we think it would be great for me to get a moped license and a moped itself!
go for it
u need a license im 14 as well and my uncle said i dont need a license
Lone Wolf Depends where u live mabey... I am from Latvia here to drive a 49/50 cc moped u need to have license whitch requires answering 20 questions 2 can be wrong and a drive test.. not much really
+Rihards Lācis ok i live in guam
Lone Wolf Whell I live in latvia... Check your rules..
I'll stick to my DongFang and Tao Tao.... yee-haw! Hehehe. Haterz gone hate!
so are these good in the rain will I need to put a blanket over it and what not
are they good in the rain in what way being weathered or being driven?
being driven and just leaving it in the parking lot
good for both ive had mine for a while and i leave it out in the rain all the time (england, also driving it is good too)
Identas oh well that's good what about the cold then
Gem Mitchell it doesnt matter
are you ever scared of them getting stolen?an how do you prevent it from happening
some of them have steering lock which locks the handlebars in a position so it can't even be pushed somewhere that and you have a key..
+ils360 okay cool because i wanna buy one but im scared to drop close to a thousand bucks then someone just puts it into a truck bed
Maybe a script would help. Telling a novice; "it's an all digital dash", when there is an analog speedometer needle, is confusing.
Carloms it's not a speedometer needle it's a tachometer and if you turn the bike on it goes up and down like a digital Gage even though it looks analog I guess you could call it a digital analog gauge and I agree I need to do more scripting on my videos make them a little more professional
thank you for the video is very helpful
thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it informative
my favorite part was when the cats came

the best scooter has to be the yamaha tmax
Louie Leung Italien made are the absolute best , Piaggio kicks ass 😋

my neighbor gave me a brand new Chinese scooter and it was a complete piece of t total shit fell apart, broke down , they are so shitty it should be illegal to sell them
there are some brands that are complete and utter crap but there are others that are just fine you just have to know different maintenance that they require
the oil they come with is packing oil and if you don't change the oil in them they destroyed their own motors that is probably what has happened
it ws about 8 yrs ago it was brand new someone gave him two for some reason, rich guy stuff , I imagine some are ok by now I will stick with Japanese wouldn't consider any other brands are you the one I the video , if so nice job bro thanks !
+Michael Rutto yeah if it was 8 years ago those were complete crap they're trying to make a name for themselves now so they're starting to make them better and yes I was the one in the video hopefully I didn't make it too long I just wanted to make sure I covered everything
I have an Applerila aswell
App-a-rilla sas-pa-rilla
Sorry bro. Fell asleep
Cats in the video 100% better
Some information is usefule, some is NOT. I use a lot of time to fix scooters and know a lot about them. You have said so much wrong in this video, don´t know where to start. But if you DONT know you shouldn´t tell people what´s wrong, but check it up first.
if you get a 4 stroke 50cc you might as well just give up and not ride it
i would only get a 50cc 2 stroke!!
whats wrong with a 4 stroke?
50cc 4 stroke are to slow they donthave alot of power and takes to long to get to speed , 4 stroke 125 is fine though but i would say if your going 4 stroke make sure its geared and make sure that its 125 or higher
INDX iLaC oh okay well I'm getting one soon and do I use the key to start the engine.
INDX iLaC BS , 50cc Four stroke are not as slow as you say , go around town with a 2stroke you get insane compaired to the sweet sound of Four stroke

Im getting a 150cc chinese scooter looks brandnew 500 somthing miles i know everything about engines scooters just have weird vaccum stuff to pump gas
40 minutes > no thanks
while driving
Uh - pree -uh. Italian.
