If you play the dungeon editor, you can easily amass a huge amount of rupees. if not then trendy game (the purple rupee is easily the easiest one to get once you get the hang of it. )
every rupee you collect after 999 gets wasted so you might as well spend it on the bow
@@Shoe3003 the max rupee count is more than 999. though you may as well still buy the bow anyways since its not that hard to get rupees.
i'm glad they made the max count more than 999, is it 9,999 or 5,000? (i've always hated the 500 rupee max in Ohcarina of Time)

In the Gameboy version not only does he kill u but u automatically get named THIEF the rest of the game
Illusion Of Gaia in this one it doesn’t change the file name but everyone calls you thief

Not sure about the Switch version, but in the Gameboy version, you could actually avoid death if you were fast enough. If you walked back in and immediately pulled up the save menu, you could save, restart the game, and it would assume the shopkeeper had killed you. It wouldn't register it as a player death, but you could then safely re-enter the shop without being blasted into oblivion.
You still did get called THIEF for the rest of the game, though.
Same thing with the Switch version.

I guess it is really harder to do this in this version. I thought they made impossible to steal the items when I saw Arin and Dan failing every time. On the gameboy version you only need to grab the item and run LOL

Similar thing happens when you steal anything in Skyrim all the NPCs will try to kill you. The only difference is that you can steal without getting caught and if you are caught you can fight back or pay a small bounty after stealing.

The shop keeper is one of those sleeper legendary boss characters you frequently see in fiction. Normally over-looked or seen as harmless, like the neighborhood cat or some unassuming beggar, but in reality, is some 4th dimension demon or wizard.
Maybe with his killer lightning, he could have saved Hyrule. Shame.

I still remember doing this for the first time in the original - I didn't know it was possible, and was simply trying to get the message where he stops me. It surprised me when I managed to steal the item, and even more surprised when the shopkeeper ended up killing me.
I had also not fought any bosses yet, so I didn't realise it was the boss music playing at first. Good times.
