I dunno if I believe the natty claims or the bloodwork numbers regarding the kick. Going to wait for Coach Greg for MorePlatesMoreDates to release their video on you before I trust it.
To be honest Craig, I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older.
Fun fact: I have the exact same drum kit. I love it. Fun fact 2: My drum teacher told me (about 15 years ago) to use an ankle motion for bass drum playing. This essentially means jumping utilizing the ankles and calf muscles instead of stomping by using the hip flexors to lift the legs. Here is how to do that: Put your hands on the knees and push the knees down. Now play the bass drum. Due to leverage, it is just not possible to lift the legs with the hip flexors (unless you are on test. Anyway...). Instead, you are forced to jump via an ankle motion. You can force yourself to jump more by lowering the drum throne. Example: Alan Cassidy from The Black Dahlia Murder who sits ridiculously low and plays swivel. I use "stomping" for Bleed-like parts when they are short enough and I want to have maximum power in my hits. This works until about 220bpm 16ths, after that my stomping is just to slow. You can go to faster tempos by raising the drum throne. This is the way of Chris Turner and it obviously works. According to the internet, a higher drum throne also helps with getting into heel toe. I use jumping in sustained double bass parts, where this approach conserves a ton of energy. Seasoned with a little swivel, I got all the efficiency that I want. David Diepold also "divides" his (heel up) foot technique into stomping for lower tempos and jumping for the faster stuff. However, similar to Alan Cassidy, he can also play Meshuggah-like patterns by jumping. Then, they play continuous 16th on the right foot and sprinkle in the left foot on occasion. Maybe someone gets something out of this. Best of luck and patience; technique always takes ages to develop. Anyway, keep up the killer work & videos!!
Subdividing on your right hand with ghost notes... that’s such a great tip my dude. I myself have a tendency to get loose when playing slower shit. Always have. Thank you 🤘
Had no idea my Paw-Paw played a drum clinic a few years back LOL J/K. Its good that you continue to improve and grow. When I watch my old stuff, i wind up laughing my ass off at how bad it was.
It’s cool man we all grow as drummers as the years go on 😂 it’s crazy to know that you’re part of stray from the path🤯and when I first heard you were part of the band I was like damn I was watching your drum covers for a long time back when you used to have that black-and-white tapestry behind your drum kit I didn’t notice anything wrong with this drum play through at the time but now that you pointed everything out I can see what you mean. but A lot of progress has been made since then
I personally found it easier to lead that double bass groove with my left foot. This was on of the first songs from stray that pushed me our of my comfort zone as a drummer.
You need to check yout either the acd drive shaft or the trick drum. Tama is great but they are bloody behind on this. The amount of delay on the slave pedal is bonkers without a proper drive shaft
i was in my 30s once a fit capable drummer then some cont locked my metronome at 140 bpm for 15 year now nearly fifty and in dubstep prison, gratitude though and a yamaha dtx6 athritis and a nappy next, still i purchased int ats album last month all is good
Much honour for your courage to share this with all us and you didn't need to do it!!Even if this you know is sloppy i didn't listen it like that!! I think is good enough and nothing seems so bad as you said. Also is strange that you look older but maybe you're thinner than today?? After lockdowns your ass stack to this chair much longer maybe and you didn't believe you're not eat much more this period?
Doing the practicing to the relevant subdivision (16th if playing 16th notes, etc) always, be it on drums, guitar, etc, and it helps a lot to lock in indeed. And also relaxing as much as possible.
Ex Set it Off drummer here, test is naturally 870 at 33. Even after abusing my body in the military and the road life beforehand, it's really just genetic makeup and how you take care of yourself for me. Results may vary. Still slopping along on double kick but muscle memory with time and work makes a difference.
what does "Pocket" mean to you? I don't think it means the same thing to you as it does to dennis chambers. But your playing was sick, no complaints. That 8th note technique I used to call the thomas haake technique because he is always doing it almost ALL the time with his right hand... Accented Quarters and softer offbeat 8ths.... but it really comes down to being a slow Moeller technique... that way playing any 16th subdivision is always followed by a right hand
Maybe you've answered this before... click live? Also playing with different click divisions, I've had slow quarters work for better pocket, and on a different song eighths or 16s.
Just watched a video of you saying you wanted a 26 14 18 and 20 floor Tom but thought it stupid. I have a 26” 6” 8” 10” 14” 15” 16” 18” 20” 1970’s Ludwig black cortex and trust me… you need it in your life. The 20” floor Tom just shakes your rib cage 😂
@@reynlord666 I remember that hate on this video, but really not understand why. It was very good played, but I glad that you have improved your double-kick anyway! Cheers!

The reason you said you looked older is because you were leaner then. The bad thing about being ripped is you don’t look big until you take off your shirt, then you look way better. With more fat on your body you look bigger in clothes, and not so much without your shirt. You look big now and you’re still lean ! Wait till you’re 40 to start TRT.

Def not natty. It’s Trenbass
Greg and Derek are the shit!

Nice
Ain’t got time for that, cause I’ve got to return some videotapes!

My man went from Johnny Tensegrip to Greg Smoothmotion. From Jimmy fkn Pubrocker to Tommy Meshuggah. We love it.
Of course he picks the tentacle world of "anime" 🤣🤣🤣
I think you're the rhythmic love child of Don Logan and Ricky Gervais, I also genuinely enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work Craig ;)
being compared to don logan is an absolute career highlight tbh
you're wrong bro i fixed my double kick just by taking creatine bro I swear
I took a lesson with Halpern 5 or 6 years ago and he put me on this. Really helped me lock in as well.
Craig, you're my favorite main character. Increasing drum skill is known to cause reverse-aging.
I've watching your videos for like 3 months and it's the first time that I hear you play

Tentacle hentai 🤣 spot on answer to that question... You remind me of so many people I've known, but better become of drum knowledge aha
You look way more relaxed as well!
You must've been tired and stressed to look that way. Plus your feet on a bad day are better than us hobbyists!
The one from the other day, does sound more 'relaxed' which suggests you are deeper in the pocket.
The post divorce glow up is real
