This is the art of music when you’ve practiced so much that you’ve gone way beyond “they’re great” to way beyond “fantastic” to a place where they’ve just “become”…. Everything’s been integrated, everything is played like it’s easy because after you’ve practiced so much it is easy.
And making it sound, musical and rhythmic, is powerful and going up on stage and looking terrific, presentable to the public, and then just kicking holy ass. That is an ultimate state of musicianship. I really appreciate all the work she’s done. I’ve never seen Marco play but he’s fantastic as well. The both of them are just absolutely amazing, an absolute onslaught of vicious and gentle pleasure… a gourmet hot chili dish served in a cool way.

When I was first introduced to Konnakol - by a tabla player who gave a few classes at my school - it was like finding the holy grail. It's just *mind boggling* how this amazing ancient Indian rhythmic knowledge has been passed on through the generations for *eons of time* but remained largely unknown to the rest of the world. Rhythmically they are like *a thousand years ahead* of the rest of the planet.
Mathematical science becoming music becoming amazing art... An endless well of inspiration! *And it's funky as HELL !!!* 🔥

@@iridescent9667 that is funny because at the core we believe that Time is an illusion .. past and present only exist in the mind .. all that exists and can be experienced is 'Here and Now' .. and music is a Yoga ( union) that brings your mind to the 'Here and Now'
So this Indian disagrees that we were ahead of our time.
As Van Halen said " Right here Right Now" is all that matters .. And every culture knows this wisdom.
And we haven't even begun the richness of music of other cultures ... but Jazz is the ocean into which all those rivers will flow into ... and Jazz is America's greatest discovery!!

In Vishishtadvaita and Tattvavada, Time is not an Illusion. Rather, everything is as real as it gets.

But yes, Minnimann certainly has jazz elements to his playing, and the rhythms of jazz and Indian classical, however different, do carry the similarity of freakishly virtuistic approaches to writing and playing music.

I saw Ravi Shankar and his ensemble play at Loma Linda University in the fall of 1973. During his performance he spoke a little bit about the vocalizing of percussion, as a means of recording and sharing the rhythms. This is a great example!

It's pretty rare to come across a video showcasing a female musician where incels haven't wormed their way into the comment section trying to convince people she isn't that special, but clearly even they know it'd be a waste of time on this one. Absolutely amazing.
