In all fairness, they did use Designs you would expect in TOS too. Except for the Vengeance, i could imagine every one of them in the TOS Design. And just for me, not speaking for the Story of the movies but rather for the designs, i really like them. I think they mixed the Original Looks really well with a more Modern Design.
I know its because of the time TOS was filmed but humanity wouldnt start with computers like a Windows 95 one. So the Interior + Sounds fit just fine.
HOWEVER, i think the Version in Strange New Worlds is great one too.

Even in another timeline, Starfleet still uses something almost but not entirely unlike a Miranda class...

The Franklin exists in the Prime timeline since it was around pre-Narada arrival.

Right. One argument against the quality of the video.

It also did not go through a wormhole and it used photonic torpedoes by the time it crashed.

Yeah, the NX-class was in service around the time of United Earth Starfleet, before the Federation.

It's probably an acquired taste but I love the USS Kelvin. I have a soft spot for the uni-nacelle ships.

I love these types of designs for the ships. The ships are bigger than the other universe but thinking...when the future ships like the USS Enterprise-D or the USS Voyager...they got to be bigger then it's other self!

I did not realize that the nacelles of the Vengeance were longer than the Enterprise. I knew it was a large ship, but I didn't know it was that big.

Funny how the Enterprise-A looked more like the original Enterprise than the 2009 version did.

Isn't the Kelvin saucer the same site as the Mayflower? comparing the Bridge module and weapon emitters...

Although the Kelvin films are a little heavy on the action, the one thing they did get right was making the military side of Starfleet have some teeth.
Many of the other Star Treks make you feel like you've been to a holistic basket weaving class in a Californian hippie commune.

Is there a name for Kelvin TL style warp nacelles used on Kelvin and Armstrong ships?

  • @DoNpHoBiATV

Surely the Kelvin should be of TOS style - as that was the point the time line split off.

Except for the Franklin, all these ships are grotesquely oversized. I wonder how they'd measure out if we corrected down to the modeled design sizes of 366 meters for the Enterprise and 200 meters for the Kelvin.

Mayflower may as well be Kelvin timeline Miranda class. The Enterprise is still Constitution-class, despite the alternate universe design aesthetic, so call it what it is. Mayflower is Miranda-class.

And the Kelvin timeline James t Kirk was never born. George Samuel Kirk Jr was born and named James t Kirk.

Why not? The man scanned all of the Enterprise tech manuals while in sickbay in Space Seed. He had Section 31 at his disposal in the Kelvin timeline.

I can't watch this video with that annoying AI voiceover. Just speak people. We don't mind accents and dialects but AI voices are not up to the taks right now.

These ships are assaults on the senses. God-awful ugly, all of them. I can’t stand the bubblegum designs. They look like ships kids would design - or adults with the brains of kids.

I agree, none of the elegance that Matt Jefferies and Andrew Probert brought to their prime timeline designs. Also, grotesquely oversized.

    • @BottleBotsPit
      @BottleBotsPit 18 дней назад +6

These are pre Constitution Class early 23rd century vessals, they're meant to look bulky and built for function like the Daedalus Class. In universe Starfleet didn't start streamlining thier ships until the TMP era.
Atleast that's how it supposed to be, Enterprise and Discovery pretty heavily retconned that, I do however agree that the 2009 ships designs are pretty half-assed with the execption of the USS Kelvin.

Frankly who cares about these ships? They were as pathetic as the storyline! JJ Abrams doesn't know crap about Star Trek that's why this so-called timeline is so stupid! And many true Star Trek fans don't even consider it a Star Trek reality. Abrams just about destroyed Star Trek with this so-called timeline. The man is a horrible director, who couldn't direct a diarrhea commercial worth crap yes sarcasm totally meant. He totally ruined Star Trek and he turned around and just about ruined Star wars right afterwards why? Plain and simple the man doesn't know science fiction at all and wants to ignore what their creators created and envisioned and make what he envisions which is total garbage.

Abrams didn't write the films, and toxic fanbois like you can't enjoy the movies for what they are: MOVIES. Movies meant to entertain more than just a niche of people who nitpick every little thing. People like you are the ones who ruin Trek and Star Wars with your venom and hate.
