- Come take a look at my new recording and writing space! I include a bookshelf tour of the shelves behind my workspace, which are predominantly fantasy and are a work in progress.
That new recording space it legit. It's what I'd like to do but I just don't have the space since my office is just a guest bedroom.
At least you got a guest bedroom - I’m banished to the basement! 😁 My shelves will never look as awesome as yours, Mike, but I do like my new spot. Works great for writing too!
@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy The way my room is set up I'll never be able to space lighting out perfectly. It's frustrating. But yours looks great.
@@mikesbookreviews Thank you! I brought a couple extra lamps down and redirected the ceiling lights, and voila! I was actually surprised the lighting didn't look worse.
liking the book nook!
Thank you! I should take my own advice and transfer some plants down there, but the problem is the lack of sunlight. At least it's cozy!
This is what I’ve been waiting for!!!! I wish more people embraced the chaos of their bookshelves! Having different editions and uneven sets adds so much personality and makes it so much more interesting!!!
I appreciate that affirmation! My books are well loved.
Fantastic collection Dr. Chase! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much, Florian!
A cozy, inviting set-up. You've been busy reading and writing.
Thanks so much, Curt!
Awesome looking space! Love the big Way of Edan poster in the background as well
Thanks so much, Jed! It’s proving to be a good spot for writing too. My very best wishes to you for your writing!
Looks super nice Philip! That poster looks awesome
Thanks so much, Tom!
That's actually a pretty nice collection! Just the right mix of old & new, pristine & worn-out, MMPBs & Hardbacks, and of all kinds of shapes & sizes. I totally get the whole OCD point, but this almost has its own vibe to it, and I'm all for it. Sometimes you do need those oldies on your shelves, those with multiple cracks up the spine, and certainly those with fond memories of the past. It's said a bookshelf tends to reflect a person's very own personality, and I totally agree!
Thank you! I like the idea that a slightly ragged (well loved) collection carries its own vibe. All the best!
Ive seen you talking to Mike from Mike's books reviews and Jared Henderson and I must say, your personality alone makes me want to read your works. You seem like such a genuine and kind man. Im looking forward to reading your books.
Thanks so much for your kind words - I appreciate them very much!
Nice to see Half-Human Heroes on the shelf. :)
Right where it belongs! Now I need to read the whole thing and review it!
I really respect your discipline in keeping the books in alphabetical order
Thank you, Andrew! It took me forever because I kept realizing I missed an author and had to reshuffle the books several times.
I appreciate your steady hand during the book tour!
Thank you! I did my best!
The Icelandic sagas are my favorite! Such fun stories to read
They are absolutely brilliant! Cheers!
Thank you so much for sharing your shelves! I loved seeing the well loved books, sorted alphabetically with mismatched editions in series! That is how my shelves look, and after all the perfectly uniform shelves on Booktube with organization based on feel and look, it's nice to see representation!
Thank you! I’m glad my shelves are relatable for lots of people. The books are indeed well loved!
This looks awesome 😊
Thank you!
That is a truly excellent selection! Some great trade and indie stuff in there. A little skinny in the B's . . .
I couldn’t definitely use some more B’s, Joe! 😁 Cheers!
Dying of awesome, seeing my book in your incredible collection!
It’s an honor to have The Exile of Zanzibar in my collection, Daniel!
Would love to see reviews on Tad Williams books. Great set up!
I will be doing a Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn reread at some point for the channel. Perhaps in 2024. Cheers!
Love the new space and the tour. Thanks for sharing, Philip!
Thanks so much, Danie!
Really nice set up! Jealous of the book shelves. Mine are all in piles in random places around my room hahah. Hope you have a good day, buddy! Loving prophet a ton, that battle at 50% ruined me. I may or may not have shed a tear
Sorry about that battle, Sean!, but I'm delighted to hear you're enjoying POE! Until I set this little space up, a lot of my books were also in random piles. This should keep me more organized, I hope!
What a setup! I bet it’s a great place to hunker down for writing.
Thank you, Josh! I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far!
Woahhhhh very nifty, Philip! What a beautiful space for the work to be done within. What a beautiful cover I see on the left! Great to see some Papa Gwynne on the shelves as always as well (even 2 Malice!) and your own works too. Such a beautiful collection. Dissertations, Norse dictionaries and the venerable Bede!
Ed
Thanks so much, Ed! Yes, I'm delighted to say that I've got everything published so far by Papa Gwynne, and I will, of course, be keeping up when he publishes more. All the best to you and your loved ones!
Great tour! Love the set up and seeing that books that are important to you. Hope you have a great week
Thanks so much, Nate! I hope you have a great week too!
The space looks great!
I always enjoy seeing fellow booktubers shelves.
Thank you so much, Joseph!
It's an honor to see my book on anyone's shelf, let alone yours, let alone between Pratchett and Pullman, both whom I admire! You have a beautiful new space, Doctor Chase. I look forward to your future videos!
Thank you, Matthew! Between Pratchett and Pullman is a great place to be, and you earned it -- and not just by having "Prindle" as a last name!
Great video.
Loved seeing your new space and bookshelf tour. Enjoyed seeing so many heavily read copies.
Thank you, Frank! My books are well loved, I suppose. 😁
Hello 👋
Beautiful bookshelves, I love the arrangement according to alphabetical order.
Please get a paperback of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell Dr Chase, Piranesi is lonely, it just told me! 🥺🤭
Me at L: Le Guin, Le Guin, Le Guin, can't wait! 🤭
Le Guin collection 🤩
Dr Chase please get a paperback of Fire and Blood, it's feeling left out by not being there! 🤭
Patrick Rothfuss 🥳
Gradually approaching T for Tolkien...can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!
Tolkien 🤩
Tad Williams 🥳 We have to read the next series (The Last King of Osten Ard) and discuss it Dr Chase some time, 2024 is the final book release! The writing is 👌 and anyone who likes ASOIAF, this one is as good or (according to my mom) much better!
Beautiful collection.
Thanks for bearing with my comments as I watched.
P.S. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell copy, Dr Chase, please! Especially for Mr Norell, has a library, hates parties, just wants to sit at home and read! 🤣
Ha ha! I think Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell certainly deserves a place on my shelves, and an honored one at that. Cheers, Paromita!
Now that is a beautiful space, made all the better by the presence of your own works. May it be a sanctuary of peace and productivity!
Thank you so much - I deeply appreciate it!
Love the new set-up, congratulations! I had to laugh, you and I have the same well-read, much loved little yellowing edition of The Well at the World’s End. (Which REALLY needs a Folio Society edition that does not cost nearly $1000. Yes, I’m looking at you, Beowulf.) I would LOVE to hear your deep dive on William Morris.
Thank you! Someday I will make that William Morris video. Cheers!
Very nice, my friend. Are we changing your name to Dr. Fancypants or Dr. Mancave? 😊
Ha ha ha! Well, Dr. Fantasy is a fancy fellow, what with his cape, his tweed jackets, and various accoutrements. Cheers, Nemesis!
Looks great!
Thank you!
I love the space! 🎉
Those Robin Hobb editions are triggering me 😂
Thank you, and sorry about the mismatched Hobb collection!
absolutely LOVE the new setup! Congratulations! The red wall also adds to the sleek, but warm environment. I also really appreciate the desk because I feel like I'm in the professor's workshop, which I am! Very cool you have some Eckhart Tolle on the shelves as well. Really, really great look!
Thank you, Brian! I love it when people catch some of the books I gloss over in the video. My wife and I sometimes listen to Tolle on RUclips. His voice is almost like a sedative, so a great way to fall asleep with lots of wisdom flowing in your ears!
Couldn't agree more. I've listened to his audiobook of The Power of Now a few times. @@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy
Nice, Philip-this is very classy!
Thank you, David!
I absolutely loved this Philip! The camera angle is great, and I love your shelves too. I’m so happy you didn’t leave out your medieval collection.
Thank you, Chas! Yes, I could not leave out the medieval stuff as it is so much of what has influenced me.
This is AMAZING! So cool! Thank you so much for showcasing The Rosteval Saga, and for your interest in my work. It really makes my day seeing my books on your shelf. Cheers, my friend!
My pleasure, Michael! I’m excited to read your story!
Looks great Philip and the poster looks fantastic
Thank you, Mike!
Awesome setup, Dr. Chase! It looks very cozy 🙂
Thanks so much!
Thanks for acknowledging the very real struggle of book OCD 😂😂😂! Anyway, great set up Philip!
Ha ha! Thank you, Abel!
What a great space!!!😍 I love that red wall colour. Very classy! You should get a frame for that wonderful cover poster. Nice to see somebody else with an organically grown book collection. Because nothing matches on my shelves either. So, yours are tidier, but I think time will take care of that.😁
Thank you, for the tour of your new special space, Philip!
Thank you, Angela! I love the phrase "organically grown book collection" and will be using it from now on! 😁
@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy Ha, ha, Philip Chase, great author and English scholar, borrowing a phrase? Well, work away! I will feel honored every time you use it.😊
Now, to make your new little corner extra special and perfect -- when your wife isn't looking, grab a statue or two and display them on your nice desk.😇
@@DoUnicornsRead I have already added Saraswati!
@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy Nice! I'm very much looking forward to your first 'propper' video from your new studio!
Awesome shelves, Philip! A great space to work from too. Great to see Way of Edan and Ringlander amongst such amazing company 😊
Thank you, Michael! I’d like to think that Ringlander has a good home on my shelves. All the best!
I love the new setup, and thanks for the bookshelf tour! And yes, you can never have too many copies of Tolkien!
Thank you, Josh! Much appreciated!
What a nice space and collection! I greatly enjoyed the tour!
Thank you so much, Ben!
Wow Philip, this is amazing! A beautiful scholarly space!
Thank you so much, Jack! Your handiwork is present here with the poster, and I'll be framing the map of Eormenlond as well!
What a brilliant new setup!
Thank you, Alex! I hope you’re doing great!
Love the new space. The cover in the corner is amazing!
Thank you, Joseph! It's great to have your books on the shelf behind me!
Great set up Phillip! So happy for you! Wishing you many amazing broadcasts from your new haunt! Lots of fab books on your shelves! Honoured see two of mine there, and thanks so much for the kind words regarding A DROWNED KINGDOM!!!
I’m eagerly looking forward to continuing in The Drowned Kingdom Series, P.L.! All the best!
Looks awesome! Love how organised the shelves are 😍
Thanks so much, Will! I hope I can keep them organized. One thing is pretty sure - I’ll need space for more! 😁
@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy the more books the better!
A most excellent book collection Dr Chase! I want to encourage you to bump "Parable of the Sower" up on your read-next list. I highly recommend it as it is an amazingly prophetic story, while the same time a very sobering view of what our society may be in store for. If your have read the "The Road" by by Cormac McCarthy, I would venture that it is even more realistic in what a we could, unfortunately, be lurching towards.
I have indeed read The Road, and I look forward to reading Parable of the Sower very much. Cheers!
I love the new set! It's such an honor to see The Sundered Nation among so many wonderful books. Makes me want to get all of my books together in one spot. They're currently here, there, and everywhere. Looking forward to our discussion!
Our discussion will be the first in the new space, Vaughn! I look forward to it!
Wow! Looks fantastic!
Thank you!
Congratulations on the new space! It like a wonderful reading and writing space! I love your collection very eclectic! I love the poster it really adds so much personality!
Many thanks, Mary! I hope you're doing well!
Your book nook looks great!
Thank you so much!
Love the new recording space, Philip! And it’s great to get a bookshelf tour of some of the titles you’ve collected over the last few years.
“You can never have enough editions of Lord of the Rings” really resonated with me 😂. Excited to see some more videos from the new space. Happy reading, my friend!
Thanks so much, Colin! I appreciate your kind words. They will keep making editions of LOTR, and we will keep buying them!
Beautiful book nook! Proud to have my The World Queen Awakens on your shelf.
Thank you, Micah! I am proud to have The World Queen Awakens there waiting for me!
The new space looks great!
Thank you, Kevin!
What an amazing space. Looks really good!
Thanks so much, Dan!
Your room looks so good!! Happy reading to you!! 🎉
Thank you, Safina! Happy reading to you too!
OMG,this is indeed next level stuff,I love it,congratulations, everything looks gorgeous.
Thanks so much, Ciprian!
Todd here. Hey Philip, I loved your bookshelf tour. You have quite the collection. That Price of Power book seems interesting I read the syopsis for it on goodreads. Your other Mideval books are nice to see as well.
Thank you, Todd!
I don’t know you. RUclips send me this as a random option, and the thumbnail caught my attention. Very beautiful set up 👌🏾❤
Thank you, Jackson! It’s nice to meet you!
That's an awesome set-up and collection you've got there, Philip! Love the Way of Edan poster!
Thank you so much! A colleague at work had the poster made for me, and I love it too!
Congrats on this beautiful new space, it gives me such a safe and cosy vibe!! That Way of Edan poster is gorgeous btw, deserves to be framed in a museum if you ask me 🤩
Also really enjoyed the bookshelf tour, even if your collection is a bit eclectic and chaotic haha. Only adds personality if you ask me, though! Enjoy your new space 🥰
Thank you so much, Esmay!
Huge upgrade, this is awesome!! Although, you need some plants (ones that require minimal sunlight) 😂
Thank you! Yes, some green would be good.
Great new space! It must be a lovely space to use.
And books 😊 Mine are all sizes too, all specfic together.
Thank you so much, Vero! I'm enjoying the space a lot!
Love that you have Butler and Delaney! I know your TBR is probably ten miles long, but I'd be curious to know what you think about Bloodchild and Dhalgren if you ever get around to it. Excited for your new space, Philip! It looks great. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, Jon!
Your setup looks amazing, and what an awesome book collection! I'm so excited to see the discussion view when we have those! I've always loved your backgrounds, but what a plus to have freedom in your own designated book space. So happy and excited for you!
Thank you, Johanna! Yes, I will be less in the way down here, so that will be a relief for everyone else in the house. Ha ha! I look forward to chatting with you while I'm sitting here!
I like it !!!😀
Thank you!
Looking great! I enjoyed your book tour. My books are arranged according to two principles, one mine and one my husband's. Believe me, that was a hard agreement to arrive to 😂 I want them arranged according to their belonging to the same series, in reading order and, preferably, all books of the same author hanging out together. He likes them arranged according to aesthetics, colors and sizes (I distinctly remember coming home from work one day and being greeted by husband's smiling face, telling me how my books had been messy but now they are finally ordered and that he had worked the entire day to re-order them. According to size. My Malazan books starting with Fall of Light and then Dust of Dreams, and so on, a complete mess. I felt like throwing a fit of rage, but he was so happy about what he had done for me, so instead I silently grabbed them one by one and I began to re-arrange them 😂.That was a really close one, could have ended in a crime of passion :P )
So my books are currently arranged according to a compromise between our two needs. Therefore, Abercrombie neighbors Sarah J Mass' Throne of Glass by virtue of them being mostly white (at least the first), and so on. The fancy edition ones all cluster together for being the prettiest. By the way, have you tried reading Sarah J Mass? I read Throne of Glass and the Court of Thorns and Roses, both series. The first book in Throne of Glass was, according to me, pretty bad. However, the series got increasingly better to the point that it managed to surprise me and even squeeze some tears before the end. Not only was it very enjoyable by the time it was over, but I appreciated her journey, from a first book i thought to be a disaster to a series that I enjoyed a lot (sorry, book reviewing is your job, not mine 😁)
And I see you didn't say anything about your Doctor Fantasy sign over there. It was the best item on display. ;)
Those are some complex book arrangement, Claudia! I am glad that you have found a peaceful resolution to the issue. The Doctor Fantasy sign is, of course, essential! 😁
What a wonderful space! I've been meaning to put together a place like this in my home, though it's a bit difficult to wrangle the time to do so, and the location to do it in (as I'm sure you're aware, lol). I love the selection--it's always great to see someone else's collection!
Thank you! Yes, it was a serious time commitment, and now I'm behind on other things, but in the end it was worth it. I hope you'll be able to build your perfect space!
awesome collection, plenty of these i have in my shelf as well
Thank you!
You've created a beautiful space, Philip! Congratulations!
Many thanks, Leonard! I hope to soon add another translation of the Bhagavad Gita to my collection!
I see that your family (should we stress "wife"?) has banished you to the nether regions. But you display remarkable resilience by the way you transformed the cellar corner in which you were placed. Very nice
Ha ha! Thank you! I’m taking my banishment very well. 😁
I like the new set up!! It's cozy. Nice books too, I'm surprised not to see any Guy Gavriel Kay though!
I read Tigana back when I was borrowing everything from the library, but I do plan to reread it and read much more GGK someday for the channel. Cheers!
Beautiful shelf, Philip. Lots of really awesome editions. Lots that i wish i had already read but eager that i get that chance for my first reads soon! Now that im done my first read through Malazan Book of the Fallen, i feel a sense of freedom opened up to some of those now. Looking forward to your final book at some point here.
It will be cool to see where you go now that you’ve finished Malazan, Dan! All the best!
The space and the shelves look great! If I buy a new set of books, I expect them to match. However, I'm mostly buying used books now and I love the variety of editions on my bookshelves! ❤😊📚
We are very much in the same boat . . . if a boat could have bookshelves. 😁
Really love the new setup. I like your style Phillip but I really enjoy your more candid and relaxed approach when talking books. The way you talk about books when on live streams is way more charismatic and interesting. You see a bit of that whenever you actually start your book shelf tour. Anyway, just a bit of criticism but still enjoy your channel.
Thank you for the kind words and the feedback!
It seems fitting that a professor would organize his books by alphabetical order. :P It honestly looks great with the poster perfectly matching the color of your walls! I'm glad you'll be more comfortable filming videos, I would have done the same (us book nerds can't resist bookshelves anyways! ☺️).
Thank you! Yes, I’m really happy that the colors my cover artist picked match my basement colors - otherwise I’d have a paint job ahead of me. 😁 All the best, and happy reading!
What an awesome new space!! And all your own. Good for you 🙂 Love the wall art/cover. Nice to see so many old school mass market fantasy paperbacks. Makes me feel less alone in my middle-aged-ness haha. That's the same Narnia set I got in the late 70s as a kid. After that came The Hobbit, and I've been a lost cause ever since. I have 17 editions of The Hobbit in 6 or 7 languages, including the rare "lion" cover. My brother is in Italy right now. I was like, don't come home empty handed haha.
So, soon you should have 18 editions of The Hobbit, the latest one in Italian. Very cool, Eddie!
Thanks for the bookshelf tour! Do you have any leads for buying trade paperback or hardcovers of Malazan? Seems like you can only buy used copies at super high prices.
My pleasure! I bought the few Malazan trade paperbacks I own used, but it was around a decade ago or more, before they became scarce. I wish Tor would print more!
This looks really good! Congrats! Now if you can just convince your nemesis to show us his new set up also. Cheers!
Thank you, Jacob! I think the Nemesis will need some time, but I'm sure he will eventually come up with something diabolically cool.
You probably already deal with this issue if you have it, but just in case: make sure that there is no excess humidity issues around books in a basement.
Thank you! Our basement stays remarkably dry, but we do have a dehumidifier just in case. Much appreciated!
Your shelves look great 😁 and as a history lover, I love to see your histoeical books/myths/legends on the shelves together with everything else like that and not to forget alt of the Icelandice and old norhs (a fav. part of history for me)
It's impossible for me to separate my love for the sagas from my love for fantasy since the former, for me, so much informs that latter. All the best!
Yes! It was a Dark Tower easter egg, imagine reading and realizing King is referencing your exact location, alas no abandoned lot but your apartment building. I think he used that corner because of the famous Italian restaurant across the street, The Palm.
That's awesome!
Great setup, Philip. Was this first time we've seen your collection? Looking classy!
Thank you, Christopher! I did a bookshelf tour a couple years ago, when my books were scattered all over the house. Most of them still are, but now all the fantasy books are in one place, at least!
Fantasy heaven!
I’m also one to have different sized editions 🙈
That’s because you’re wise, Al! 😁
@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy 😆
Great set-up! When can we expect a tour of your villainous lair that is so obviously hidden behind that set of oversized bookshelves?
Ha ha! That is super secret, rather like the Bat Cave. 😁
I really like the new view. Now you just need some Christmas lights bordering the shelves and you're all set. Your book cover looks great there as well. Have you considered getting it done in actual stained glass? After a cursory glance at etsy out of curiosity it looks like a custom piece like that would be $400~$500, but it would look so awesome.
What a cool idea! $500 is much less than I would have expected. Perhaps I’ll look into it. Cheers!
Awesome, Professor! Very excited to be among the first to talk to you from your new recording set-up! 😃I have just ordered «Bold Ascension» by Mr. Vaughn Roycroft, so I am also very much looking forward to your discussion with him!
Thank you, MacScarfield! The chat with Vaughn will be out on Tuesday!
@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy Awesome! Will send you some questions for our chat soon!
BTW: I found the original inspiration of Asterix and Obelix, the painting "Goths traversant une rivière"/"Goths cross a river" by Evariste-Vital Luminais!
@@MacScarfield Very cool!
Philip your shelves are a thing of beauty! A true reader's shelf, battered and beloved next to brand new and unknown, along with the ever present library gaps. Did you jump or were you pushed into the basement? I have to wonder, is it a mighty man-cave or is it a banishment of disorder from what seems the incredibly zen surrounds of the rest of the house?
I had to laugh at the physical copies of your own trilogy (I have them on Kindle) you fell into the cliche! They get longer as you go 😆. I'm a bit jealous of your hard cover of The Renegades of Pern, it's so pretty - I didn't know you enjoyed that series too, I'm interested in if you continued into the Todd McCaffrey days? Your more 'scholarly' books certainly add gravitas to the standard booktuber set up, some of those books are simply beautiful. Speaking for myself, having my books up and around me, does create a sort of spiritual comfort nook, I can only hope you've made the same for yourself.
Lovely seeing your new space. Thanks Philip 😘
Thanks so much, Derri! Let’s just say that I am at peace with my banishment to the basement. 😁 I haven’t read nearly enough of the Pern books, and it’s been ages since I read anything. Yes, The Edan Trilogy gets fatter with each book - too many great footsteps before me for me to resist the temptation, I suppose. All the best!
Looks terrific, and the shelves are great, but Dr Fantasy label is too far away, it should be front and centre! Love the poster with you cover as well! Everything looks so orderly in your shelf, that's great -- mine is a mess of horizontal and vertical arrangements meant to maximise occupation xD American Gods! Your edition is far more battered than my second-hand one D: In any case, it's a lovely space! Congrats!
Ha ha! Yes, I’ve read that copy of American Gods at least five times, but the real damage came when my older daughter read it. Thank you, Livia!
This is a reader’s shelf. Motley collection of mass market, trade paperback, hardcover, Amazon print on demand….followed by a higher tier of leatherbound classics. Interesting that Janny Wurts is the only series you have collected in a proper trade hardcover format.
My shelfs used to look much like yours. However, I mainly read on Kindle now, which has allowed me to eliminate all paperbacks. I now have a way too large collection of display hardcovers lol.
But I have learned that reading the intellectual work, is a different hobby than collecting a physical object. Book collecting and reading are odd, in that there is a crossover, and people get angry and snooty when they are not 100% aligned.
I'm not much of a collector, truth be told, but I do love books as objects. I am toying with the idea of trying a Kindle reader, but I haven't reached that decision yet. Cheers!
I just saw your latest video on your bookshelf tour. You have a nice space there. I haven't looked at your videos in a while but I am subscribed to your channel, so I check out what you've posted from time to time. While you were going through your bookshelves I noticed that there are two authors that I've read that were not on your bookshelves. Oh, by the way, you have read more fantasy than I have. Anyway, the first author is Stephen R. Lawhead. He has written a lot of books but one series in particular may fit your interests. It is "The Bright Empires" series which consists of five books. These are "The Skin Map," "The Bone House," "The Spirit Well," "The Shadow Lamp," and "The Fatal Tree." I really enjoyed this series, especially the switch in time frames from different epochs in the past to the present. Another author that I really like is Iain Pears. He has written several different books in different genres. All of his books are excellent. He wrote a fantasy book entitled "Arcadia" which I also really enjoyed. There is a Tolkien link in the book. You might want to check them out. Thanks; Greg.
Thank you, Greg! I appreciate your recommendations very much, and I hope you’re enjoying your reading. All the best!
Ayyyy, I love the new background! Looks so much better than my own XD
I'm so excited to have discussions with you in the new background too; always love seeing shelves in calls with folks!
...and I'll choose to ignore my book OCD for now :p
Thank you, KC! I look forward to our discussions very much!
I didn't know I had book OCD until I saw your shelves ;) . So many good books though.
Ha ha! Cheers, Dustin!

Your new setup looks great! I used to alphabetize my books, but i gave up on that a few years ago when my bf built me a bookcase that looks like a castle door. It's so cool. I wish i could include a picture in the comments.
A castle door bookcase sounds awesome! Cheers, Amanda!
Dr Fantasy I’m getting into various Arthurian retellings. Have you read The Once and Future King, or The Mists of Avalon or The Pendragon Cycle by Stephen R Lawhead? I’d so what did you think of any of them?
I have read The Mists of Avalon and enjoyed it very much, though, as you're likely aware, the author has a fraught personal history. Some of my favorite retellings are from earlier centuries, such as Le Morte d'Arthur or Tennyson's Idylls of the King or William Morris's short Arthurian poems.
@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy I was not familiar with the controversy, but that makes sense.
I love that your library is a-z just like the library! I love the poster position too. Your paint color looks the one I used in my old apt on 46th Street & 2nd Avenue, Benjamin Moore Confederate Red.
I hope you read Daughter of the Empire, or did you already? I think that book one is perfection but the next two not so much. It gets very serialized with danger/ rescue scenarios, reminds me of the Outlander novels.
Thank you, Heidi! I have not yet read Daughter of the Empire. It sounds like you live or used to live in Manhattan, which is an hour from where we live. Cheers!
