    I am a Singaporean Chinese. I must say that your Chinese speech is really very good. With rare exceptions, your Chinese articulation, intonation, and tempo are near perfect. Slight improvement can be made in flow spontaneity. Congratulation.

    Xiamen is a great place! 20 years ago I recommended a friend to study chinese in Xiamen University. I've beeb there for 2 monthes also. One of the best cities in China!

      I appreciate it. My teacher was kind enough to record herself saying the speech and I used that to practice the tones and the pacing

      Have you noticed the man who shouted over his phone was using a 2G style cellphone, which we call "Lao nian ji". Maybe it's too old-fashioned to be used.

      @@ghoststreet7301 If it is, he's got a kindred spirit in me. I'd hung on to my Nokia 3310 for over a decade, never failing. But I had to switch to unSmart phone for various log-on requirements but I still cannot get my head around all the tech.

      Not necessarily. There are many effective ways to learn/teach a foreign language, but using a medium language is definitely not one of them. 😊

    Hi Jake! Where are you from in Australia? I was born in Fujian (2hrs from Xiamen) and have lived in Melbourne since I was 3. Looking forward to watching more of your videos in China 😊

    and the Bo Bing you did is a very unique culture in the Xiamen/Quanzhou region, I don't think any other regions of China shares that tradition for Mid-Autumn Fest.

    The subtitle at 7:11 is "非遗文化" but not "非议文化". "非遗文化" means 非物质文化遗产(Intangible Cultural Heritage).

    We can be very loud when we speak... hahahahaha... I think it is probably the older generation. In Hong Kong, people on the phone actually whisper... though with WeChat or WhatsApp people just text, rather than talk.

      I think PTV are slowly bringing them in in Melb but yeah they are everywhere here, makes for surprisingly quiet streets
