- We finally get emulation on the iPhone! Delta Game Emulator Is now Officially available on the Apple App Store and at the time of making this video we can play N64m NES, SNES, GBA, Gameboty, GBC and Nintendo DS on the iPhone and iPad! This is a quick set up guide to easily get you up and running with emulation on the iPhone and iPad!

I’ve been using this for a few weeks and it’s literally literally the best thing about my iPad. I just beat dragon warrior for NES and I couldn’t be happier.

It ain't all that. My iphone 13 has sound lag on super nintendo and gba. That doesn't happen on my s24 ultra or old pixel xl but it did just get to the app store so I guess give it time. Melon ds with the ds on delta runs very smooth tho hasn't lagged at all. N64 either but conkers bad fur day had graphical glitches like conkers face part black spots.
I will say if it gets dolphin ios for gamecube and wii that will be interesting.
@@robmalcolm8042 The iPhone 10 was the only iPhone with specs on ram and that was a gigabyte. Most phone have minimum 8gb ram, The high market phones double that we talking Android. Do you honestly think apple has half of that in their phones. Androids struggled emulating these with 2gb btw. With iPhone you are buying the chip the phone itself is less then $15 to make
@shanedesir-parkes doesn't matter. My 13 should not lag when I've seen videos of it running gamecube and wii even demanding games at higher resolution. My s24 ultra and pixel don't have that issue. Android also has turnip drivers and native code to run games even better. Iphones are capable but he needs to fix delta cause the performance isn't that good yet. Especially when you sideload the same app or jailbreak it wasn't a issue. Idc how much it costs iphones I got the 13 to give it a shot not really into iphone I like android more. But I'm not completely biased and know what the 13 is capable of so that's why I'm disappointed in the current state of delta.
@@robmalcolm8042 that's my point those games aren't being emulated those games take benefit off the chip in the iPhone. Emulation needs ram. Personally I didn't think iPhones would get this cos of this being exposed but delta is limited to 5gen so I guess that's why they allowed it. You probably saw hacked iPhone emulation to where they take advantage of the chip in the iPhone. Give it 6months you'll get gamecube working without jailbreaking
With this and IPhone 15 being marketed as a IOS gaming standard with RE4 and Death Stranding it seems like Apple is finally getting serious about games one baby step at a time.

That reminds me, Tim Cook went to Indonesia for Investment of Apple products in Indonesia. There's a chance that customers of Indonesia who have tasted gameboy or others, after buying iPhone or iPad, when seeing this emulator, they will be excited for playing games they used to play

Would be kinda interesting if they would allow emulators for as many platforms as available via the Raspbery Pi platform as I assume the latest Apple silicon for mobile devices is considerably more powerfull than a Pi5. But doubtfull Apple will allow that as 90% of what people will wanna use this for is to use them with "alternative" ways of aquirred games 😆
Haven’t tried on iPadOS, but iOS have zip extraction built in btw. Can either tap to extract, or long press and click ‘uncompress’ in context menu
You don’t even need to unzip the files to use them

Has anyone experienced games flickering? In others I’ve also noticed black squares obscuring some of the characters and lettering. Diddy Kong racing, Pilotwings N64 and 1080 Snowboarding are just a few I noticed having these issues.
Just wondering if it could perhaps be a bad copy of the rom or the emulator core itself, not that there’s an option to change it.
They should make the game take up more of the screen on iPad and also make sound work when on call or watching videos

Yeah but ain't that good yet. Not sure if it's my phone but iphone 13 lags with gba and snes when it comes to the audio. Very unacceptable when the 13 can run gamecube and wii full speed upscaled. My s24 ultra and old pixel xl don't have that issue with super nintendo or gba.

@@robmalcolm8042I wonder if your phone is throttling due to a degraded battery? Check your battery health and see if the phone is running at lower speed to compensate
@jackieAZ it's 86. They say to change it at 80 and I doubt it's that other apps and games work fine even at higher settings. I've seen other comments on the app store about it. It's probably optimization.
@@robmalcolm8042 idk about you but my 12 pro is fine and I had this for 3 years so far. its good all the way up to dolphin. DS GBA SNES NES runs smooth even N64.
There is also AD Boy, Emu64 XL, and ScummVM
So, all the emulators are next ☺
I wish you could select more than one game to delete at a time in Delta
You should be able to delete them from the Delta folder in the files app
Will the Backbone One work with the Delta app?
I'm using Delta on an old iphone, I have the lightning to hdmi adapter. would love to test connect it to a TV and bluetooth controller to test the latency

all emulators should have crt shader support or filters.
IMO only makes sense for emulating consoles.
Can I use a USB-C Hub adapter to add HDMI OUT + External SD Card ? I only have 64GB on my iPad Air 5th Gen.... I would like to transfer all my roms to an SD Card. Hopefully I could get more usage out of my iPad.

So the ds emulator used in delta is called MelonDS. We know that MelonDS on pc has the ability to play online multiplayer (with an alternative service ofc). But i attempted to do the same on the delta version but its like the emulator its self doesn’t have internet access but the delta app does. Im curious if anyone has figured anything out. Imagine playing mario kart ds online on your phone. That would be amazing
Mmm it does use melon ds core and ironically it runs very smooth but snes and gba lag with audio so not impressed when my old google pixel xl and my s24 ultra don't have that issue at all. As for the multi-player it can probably be done but this is ios and this is a new thing for the app store so not sure how they will implement that probably easier on android.
Are you saying if you tap on the .zip it won't extract it on the iPad ? because the files app can extract zip files .

Do any of the handheld emulators support bluetooth for multiplayer (gba link cable, ect)
This one supports up to four separate controllers simultaneously for multiplayer! Not sure about link cable style multiplayer, though.
Delta does not support and multiplayer like that, only games with split screen unfortunately
I think there’s a method you can use to trade pokemon to yourself but other than that idk

Typically just double clicking on a zip file in the Files app will extract it.
Crusader no regret is not in a form for delta to use.

IDK about that but I hear you can use the Airplay feature from your iPhone/iPad to the Apple TV, if you are interested.

The developer forces you to use his own store (altstore) in the EU. A yearly subscription is required to use it.
Not the same thing, but you have the option of installing the “AltStore” either with the cheap yearly fee (Apple nonsense for app stores) that’s like less than 2 euro taxes included, or the free version that has some technical workaround to work.
For EU they are stuck on Altstore because Apple was going to charge the dev 50 cents per download and they didn't want to charge for it.
@@FenirXIII Exactly. 1,5EUR a year and you have alternative marketplace with Delta in it for free. Wondering what else will be availble in the future. I already have it and there are only 2 apps inside but one of them is Delta.
For some reason, I can't import nes files. Tried different formats, but just wont let me. And think Genesis might still be in beta? not sure about that, cant recognize the .bin files for genesis, will try md see if that makes a difference. Either way, really cool emulator, and perfect timing if they release new ipads in the coming weeks!
nes works for me. It does not show to support genesis yet in description so I knew not to even try
@@Cheeseshredder FIGURED IT OUT!!! I had Bimmy installed (the first NES emulator that popped up). All files were associated with that,so uninstalled and boom they work!!!!
Yeah the zip etc files are clunky on ios was a pain at first to do the bin files for ds.

Can SOMEONE tell Retroarch to AT LEAST try to make the interface like this? I been asking for this for YEARS. Clearly I do not know how to do it this is why I asked... Wish they would make it portrait... Just better for a phone. EVERYTHING done here was done properly for interface.

For sure. My iphone 13 is lagging on delta with snes and gba. The games run smooth but the audio isn't. N64 also had graphic glitches on conkers although it runs smooth. Probably cause it needs to be more updated but unacceptable when my google pixel xl runs snes with no audio glitches and s24 ultra too. It's very odd tho since iphones do good with gamecube and wii so it's wierd they have audio issues on lower end systems.
You also can't upscale the resolution or have as many options as android so you can't even test the iphones true potential.

That's because ios is new to it. Can android run yuzu? pc is the king of emulation. Anyways delta looks & runs great on ipad pro.
Eh the only drawbacks atm are software optimizations. iOS will be king shortly as the hardware is significantly more powerful
Need a PSP emulator bad. I got like 80 ROMs to play.
Psp games are so short tho I always beat them fast.

@MasterOfNone88 you make sense tho yeah they are short but longer games aren't too fun anymore with less time and family too. Ask me I barely could stand recently beating mario galaxy 2 on my s24 ultra. The last two stars was taking too long or grandia 3 for ps2 looked so good the graphics but I was rushing towards the end lol. I'm now doing The Last Story for wii and it runs good at 720p or 2x but it's very demanding like it has wierd spikes that are split second here or there but I heard it was even worse on the real wii lol I'm curious how it'll run on iphone since even older ones can handle the real demanding gamecube and wii games.

the app does not exist in the European App Store. If you live in Europe (like I do) - tough luck bro
The irony since it was European laws that caused apple to change and allow downloads without side loading making this possible

I have a jailbroken IPhone 14 on iOS 16 and there is way less tweaks available due to the new rootless vs rootful (decent amount is available) Apple patching the root is very controlling..
