  • I made this video because there aren't any explaining why the infusor gets stuck and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to fix it so I wanted to share.
Also there is one more bit of info I did not put in any of the videos. There is a circuit board on the bottom of the machine attached to the motor with 2 screws. It's a magnet sensor that detects the rotation of the drive gear. If it fails then the infusor will just move up and down and will never reach home position. Part is fairly inexpensive and simple to change.

OMG I've spent hours watching you tube videos and it turned out to be the door sensor. Thank you soooo much I repaired my machine. I couldn't afford a new one so have been having instant. was just about ready to throw in the towel and then I watched your video. Thanks so much for sharing! saved the day for me.

Thank you for this. Mine had its head stuck in the down position and I could not reassemble. So I left out the water tray, and slid in the grounds cup, and the unit reset itself. Thanks again, my wife would have killed me if I’d broken this thing.
    Which I almost did…

Thank you, Timo, for the info and lights indicating which of the 2 sensors might be bad. Unfortunately, you do not show us where the actual door or grounds tray sensors are or what they look like. Would also be helpful to put a light on what the guts look like after the door is opened - to determine what situation one might be encountering. For example, the box like contraption (infuser itself?) with the two red push tabs on either side was sitting firmly at the bottom of my Delonghi Magnifica and cannot remove the tray. There was no manually retracting it back upward (your video allowed a glimpse of where the infuser should be positioned - or I would not have known that it should be retracted upward when opening the door) , even by simultaneously pressing the red tabs inward. However, unplugging (not just trying to turn off) the unit for at least 15 minutes permitted the device to reset itself and retract the 'infuser' . So, might be helpful to let folks know to try this first (lights flash for this too). And, please - because it is certain that the sensors you refer - will go bad at some point -- give us a glance at the actual sensors and accessing them. thanks a mint for sharing your time and knowhow.

I have an issue. Wonder if you can help me.
I cleaned the infuser this morning and place it back. Put the tray and closed the door. When I wanted to make a cup of coffee, the infuser went up and got stuck. When I switch it off and on again there is a flashing light moving along constantly from left to right. It seems that the infuser will not move again.
    Can you help?

Hello Timo, thanks for the very helpful videos. Easy and effective.
This morning my beloved Magnifica refused to switch on. After watching your instructions I've found that the infuser is stuck midway. On reflection I now realise why, when it switched off yesterday, it didn't do its usual drain cycle.
I've tried turning the drive wheel under the spiral screw gear but the brew unit doesn't move. As I can't get the power to switch on I don't know what to do next to reset everything.
    I'd appreciate your suggestions.
    Thank you, Geoff

GeoffWhere you need to do a hard reset I don't remember exactly how it went you have to disconnect the power press and hold two buttons wait 15 seconds while holding the buttons and plug the power back in all the while holding the button don't stop holding it until the mechanism moves. I believe you need to hold the clean button and the coffee grounds button

I have one of those and my infuser is not operating correctly. It makes good coffee as usual, but it also makes a mess. A managed to operate the machine with the door opened and saw the it starts to throw away the used compressed coffee before the right time so there is a remaining that is thrown to the front and wrong side resulting in a messy tray and coffee all over the inside of the machine. Any ideia on how to fix this?

    Hello, Timo!
Can you please help me out?😭
I have a DeLonghi Magnifica Evo.
This machine has no switch button like yours and right now it shows a symbol that I have to clean the indicator.
The problem is that it is in the wrong position, so I can't pull it out.
I know that it would go back to it's position if I could touch the power screen but it doesn't take any "orders".
So how do I put it in that position, if I don't have such a button and it doesn't take my "orders" (I click on the touch buttons, but the machine does not do anything)

i hope you know that youre a legend. i had the machine in shambles and was scared of going further and possibly breaking it until your other video where you walk through it, then in this video you fixed a second problem that cropped up. Thanks to your thorough explanation i was able to understand how the machine works and has expanded my mind. Im very curious about how you did the switches, did you learn that somewhere specific ? it would require soldering i guess

    • @timoseppala7137
      @timoseppala7137  5 лет назад

It was pretty easy basically there is a switch on the bottom of the machine you have to remove a panel with a security torx bit. It's basically just a button. When the button is not pressed it sends a signal back to the circuit board saying that the grounds drawer is missing, pressing it is how it knows that it is in. Very simple switches basically the center wire of the switch is the feed coming from the circuit board. When it's not pressed it sends a signal to one of the outer wires and when you press the switch it diverts the signal to the opposite wire. All I did was unplug the wires from that switch pull the excess wire to the back of the panel and wire in another switch which works the same way. I had to drill small holes in the back panel but other than that it was just plug and play.
The one for the door sensor you have to remove the top panel of the machine. I'll be right at the front edge right behind the control buttons. Same deal, 3 wires going to a button. They have plenty of length on the wires so there's no need to solder. However now that I've gotten a little more knowledgeable about that machine I would replace the sensors rather than putting it on a switch. It is convenient to have it on a switch to be able to diagnose issues though.

@@timoseppala7137 Hey buddy, so I think youre the only one who knows whats up. My coffee machine has been working fine on the preground coffee setting, making some really strong coffee it didnt before, (yay maintenance) however there seems to be a serious issue with the default bean-to-grind setting. The coffee comes out watery, in look and taste. The machine eats up a bunch of beans, creates a puck of ground coffee (unfortunately it still makes a mess inside) but somehow its not right. The mechanism clearly works as it works with pre-ground coffee, which makes it so much more confusing.
I can make a video of it if you wish, although not a lot is visible. Even with the front door open, it seems to do exactly the same thing.

Ok I put downward pressure on the infuser as I turned the cog (17mm) and the infuser slowly returned to its vertical click out position. I then clicked it out by pushing on the two red buttons. I then cleaned out the coffee and snapped back in the inverter and turned on the machine. Nothing happened. The red triangle with exclamation mark light came on is all. I don’t want to just change parts but I think that when the inverter got jammed the electric motor that turns the belt for the inverter burned out when it jammed. How do I determine if that is the case? Thanks

Hi. I have a somewhat different problem. I yanked out the tray when the infuser was in the wrong position (bad move, I know). So now the infuser is in the wrong position, too far down, and I can't put the tray back in. Is there a solution to this? Would really appreciate any help (especially as it's not my coffee machine). Thanks.

    • @vampireducks1622
      @vampireducks1622 7 лет назад +3

Actually, it's OK, I've found a solution. You have to put the ground container in without the drip tray, keeping it in the right position with one hand as you close the door with the other. Then when you switch the machine back on, it automatically re-positions the infuser like it's supposed to. So then you just take the container back out, stick it onto the drip tray, and put the whole the back in, and the door opens and closes as per normal.

Without looking obviously I can't say exactly what you did however this machine does not have a specific light just for the infuser it has a general warning light which can mean many different things. Are you sure it was actually referring to the infuser? As far as I know this machine does not have a light for the infuser so it wouldn't know if it's missing. That said if you put the infuser in improperly it can get jammed. I would call DeLonghi first though if you're only a month-and-a-half old you're still under warranty.

My machine has a similar problem. It will turn on, but when I make coffee, the infuser goes up into the brew and the grinder grinds beans that fall into the tray below. It passes clear hot water through the infuser. Then when I turn the machine off, the infuser goes down all the way to the bottom and then comes part way back up and stopping too high to remove the infuser. If I unplug and replug the machine, it resets but again stops too high. Any suggestions?

Hi Timo, I have this same machine (EAM3000 to be specific), and am having an issue I haven't had before, I'm hoping you've seen it before and could help.
When turning on, it makes the normal noises and puts the infuser into place. Then eventually, the red warning light comes on SOLID - no flashing.
The manual says "you've probably forgotten to put in the infuser", or "your machine requires cleaning as per the manual.
I have stripped and greased the infuser, and made sure the inside is as clean as I can get it.
    That didn't work.
I then looked through to the transmission, which looked a bit gunky, so I have stripped and greased that too.
    That didn't work...
Have you seen this before, do you have any ideas I could try?
Thanks for your time already making the video, i'm sure there are lot of people out there who find it useful.
