It's the name of a well known tree which produces aromatic leaves often used as seasoning in the cuisines of South and Southeast Asia. The leaves of curry patta plant is also used as a herb in Ayurvedic medicines in which they are believed to possess anti-disease properties. You can prune branches to encourage new growth.

We call it Narasimha here in our Assam. It grows naturally here and there in our house campuses. It grows well in shades and moist soil.

Maine ye plant 27 feb 2020 ko lagaya tha pot mein tab iski height 30 cm thi or ab nov. The growth is sufficient. In the first year, the growth remains very slow. This is mentioned in the video.

Prune the plant from top in the spring season to encourage branching. This is also mentioned in the video.

You can, but new growth may appear after winter.

My Plant hight is 3 ft now.. it's growing only straight.. only the stem is growing.. no leafs on entire stem.

Pruning from the top may help encourage plant to produce more branches. This aspect is talked in the video.
Namaakarr brahmdeo ji..i hv done hard purning of curry leaf plant in feb as u suggested..now its growing well..its about 10/12 inches..shall i do soft pruning again of its top soft leafs to make it more bushier..? Pls guide.
That is not necessary for a small plant. Let it develop some strong auxiliary branches first.
I have planted a curry leaves plant, taken from a nursary,, in a 6 inch plastic pot around 1.5 months back and seeing that it's growth is very very slow but listening you I am a little bit relaxed as it's growth in first year is slow according to you otherwise I was worried about it's growth.
To grow it faster I have already made a pruning at top,
Have I make a mistake ?
Can I still hope that after one year it will grow faster !

I hav question about soil..
Invariably i find d soil gets clammy n feel draining aspect is not proper..tried adding d sand from construction sites but it looks greyish n kind of wet.
I have made small holes like shown usually n cover it with broken pot pieces..not sure wat is wrong but wen turn soil find it sticky..wat shld i do? Add more cocoa peat? Will that absorb d wetness?

There might be fungal infections. Prune out the affected parts and spray a fungicide on a regular basis for 3, 4 times.

How to get rid of mealybugs. Have tried neem oil with soap, detergent, home made yeast activated organic all purpose fertilizer cum insecticide. Nothing worked. Do you have solution??
You should try at early stage. First use a pressure spray over the infestation. Then apply those things at regular interval. If you want to use chemical pesticides, use imidacloprid.

Trim out the excess upper branch during summer. New branches will emerge and the trunk will become stronger.

My curry plant is shedding alot of leaves lately I am not able to find out the reason the plant is in well drained big pot .I water every 3 days because winter has started .the plant is located in UAE and in winters its not that hot and its has colder nights .temperature right now is upto 30 or 25 degree .i don't water much .its once in 3 days .whatelse can I do to save my plant

Shedding leaves is normal during colder months. I have already stated that this plant is cold sensitive and must be protected from cold drafts and frost by placing it at some warm location. Less watering and no fertilizer during winter too.

This is a cold sensitive plant. So, it happens during colder months. Other reason might be over fertilization or over watering.

how do you cut the branches. to use it just to pick the leaves or the whole branch and if the whole branch then do you cut it from the root or half cut. I have curry plant it grows well but when I pick the leaves to use it it start dying. I saw so many videos of curry leaves plant. everyone is saying the same thing but no one shows how to harvest it.

It can stay alive outdoor during winter too. The leaves may fall fully. Water very less and no fertilizer during winter.

You can prune curry plant at any stage of growth. Use warm soapy water alongwith neem oil or neem-garlic extract to spray over the plants on a regular basis. Prune your plant in February, March of the next year.

I have a curry plant but evry year it sheds it lower leaves ad turns bald with new leaves coming out . Curry plant is cold sensitive. It sheds its leaves during colder months. You can use buttermilk and banana peel fertilizer for calcium, magnisium and other trace elements. You can use tea leaf manure or coffee grounds as nitrogen rich fertilizer. Epsom salt is a chemical supplemnt of Magnesium and sulphur. You can either spray it after diluting with water or apply directly to the soil. You can plant the seeds directly, but during warmer months.

I have a stem of curry leaves. How van I use this stem to grow a full plant. I live in a very cold place so summer is only for 3 months.
Warmth is necessary for this plant. It can't tolerate cold for long. So, even if you grow it, you will have to keep it indoor at a warm place where sufficient light is available, particularly during colder months. The stem can be converted to a plant during summer by inserting into a moist and well drained soil for 3,4 weeks.

Great information. Can you please do a video on curry plant diseases(scales aphids and many more) and remedies. How to recognize it early. My plant was attacked by scales and it took toll on my plant. Was able to recue it. Wish knew it earlier to spot the problem. Thanks in advance !

No growth will take place during winter. After winter ends, prune the plant to enhance branching as shown in the video.
