I bought a ZL1 3 weeks ago. It was a impulsive buy. I am very happy to hear good things about it from Scotty. I really really care what Scotty says about cars. It was a relief for me. Car is for my son. Was At dealer for Corvette but didn’t want to wait for it. Bought ZL1 which someone ordered but can not buy anymore
It really is a shame that this car will no longer be made. Thanks Scotty for a very well made and very funny video! You made my day with your craziness! Lol 😆
Ev vehicles won't replace traditional cars until all manufacturers use the same plug n play batteries for easy swap so everyone can go to a "station" (as we do now) and get "feuled" up or a new battery is engineered that can store more power and can be charged extremely fast without damaging the unit. When this happens, all the ev vehicles made today will become obsolete.
no most people charge their ev at home. and most don't drive hundreds of miles a day. so most will eventually have an ev. if they get the price down then it will become an avalanche. people will get used to 1/2hr to charge if doing it at a supercharger or they will only do 15 minutes till they get home. people without a house or ability to home charge may not buy an ev.
I got a 2022 LT1 in a lease. Was daily driving it but I was able to get a second "winter car" last week so the 2 winters I drove it (required snow tires) were light. I think I'll just bite the bullet and keep it. Glad it's got Scotty's stamp of approval. But seriously it seems like GM put effort into these cars, those guys really cared about making a good vehicle. Can't say much about their other hunks of junk they sell. I love my Camaro, was a dream car when I was younger and glad I got into one before they were killed off.
Had one of these, absolutely loved the thing. I averaged over 30mpg on flat highways up here in northeast OH. I could cruise at 80mph in 6th gear and the rpms would stay buried.
Scotty, you missed talking about the 1LE package with the magnetorheological shocks, and how the steering effort changes with ride selection. I have a 2019 SS with 1LE with the Tremec 6 spd manual. I did not order it with enhanced electronic comfort stuff... this car incredable.
Is the Camaro a slow seller? Its pretty crazy to destroy a very recognizable brand worldwide especially after the Transformers films. The future of cars is getting very bleak, we can only hope guys like Akio Toyoda and Stephen Winkelman are more influential on the industry's future.
Suvs are more practical for the people who can afford them. Most the people looking at buying a camaro can't afford one especially a v8, for a lot of people the 4cyl or v6 just seems like a waste that's how I see it anyways.
I however did get manual (even with almost 0 previous experience) because I wouldn’t dare get a car like this in anything less. The a10 cool though don’t get me wrong and I will be rolling back on some hills. Pros and cons I guess
@@miggieSmallZ923 no Julio. The 50th were only one color and you got a build cert. when you bought your car. If I place a Cadillac badge on my car does that mean it is a Cadillac? Are you trying to be cute or are you just ignorant of the 50th run they made?
Breaks my heart knowing the Camaro and Challenger I going bye bye. I own a Mustang GT and love it, but I love Camaros and Challengers as well. Chevy and GM really hurt their enthusiast fan base with that decision. The Mustang wins the battle by default, but it still sucks for the car enthusiast the loves American Muscle/Pony Cars.
I bought my 2017 camaro 1ss convertible in Jan of 2017. The car was only 1 month old and as a rental already had 22,000 miles on it. I paid $26,000. for the car. I was 71 years old when I got it and drove it for over 7 years. I was78 when I sold it for $25,000. It was the best car and most FUN. My son made me sell it. I miss the beast and the "red leather interior'' and "midnight gray" exterior, , topdown blast, and it's wonderful V8's exhausts 'pops & growles'. .
I’ve ridden in a 2019 corvette stingray with the same 6.2 v8 with 455 horsepower. 455 horses is a lot of power, you can’t even utilize it’s entire potential on the street. It’s crazy fast
@@wittytech7288 I would rather own a Corvette than any Porsche. Mainly because their cheaper to maintain and own in the long run. For example the 2020 ZR1 Corvette has 755 HP, you would need a 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo S to compare to ZR1. That Porsche 911 Turbo s costs over 40k$ more. Very soon Corvette will be releasing an 800+ HP range model. By 2025 or so GM has stated that they will come out with/ release a hybrid gas/electric Corvette that's 1000 HP. Corvette has always been a very competitive affordable sports car. A long time ago my dad had a 1966 Corvette 427, those had 425 HP stock. His would run 11.9's quarter mile ,with stock motor + 👍 drag strip tires. That's technology from almost 60 yrs ago.
Team Camaro 🥇🏆 I want to keep mine always I like how you acknowledged the Recaro seats being on their own level 💫 I have to have one of these 1 day, 2015 RS is a great daily. Dad had a 71 Z-28.
The only vehicle I bought from GM was the Camaro. However, GM has always treated the Camaro like the step child. The Camaro could have been much better and sold more if GM didn’t neglect it in order to put more attention on the Corvette. GM as a corporation doesn’t have pride in it’s products, only cares about the bottom line, which is why I stopped buying their garbage in 2002.
Well that sucks. Australian V8 supercars have just transitioned over to Camaros and Mustangs after we stopped producing Holden's. Electric racing is no fun.
I know what you mean. I have a 2008 Pontiac G8 and most suspension/chassis parts and even engines are compatible with the 5th Gen. Camaro built on the same chassis platform. It just has 4 doors and you can see out of it.
@@Koghent One must manually calculate MPG to get a real answer. I would suppose if driven at 75 mph on the freeway for an entire tank, it would be around 25-28 mpg.
Im glad i got my 2022 2SS with the 1LE because they removed a lot of options for the 2023 models. Also, 40+ miles per gallon? Does he never encounter traffic?! Im over here in NYC and I get AT MOST...14 miles a gallon ON A GOOD day, which are rare, 90% of the time its 11 to 12 😬I only really get to enjoy the power late at night. When I do go on long trips my MPG raises A LOT and I barely make a dent in the gas.
I had a 1967 RS/SS with the 350 engine. It was always fun to drive, especially in straight lines. Wish I still had it. When I bought it it cost $650 which was a big sum of money. (1975) lol.
@@pmscalisi Sir, I am an analytical chemist. I might be smart, obviously that would be for others to judge. You have to understand that a 50 year old car has electrical wiring problems, etc. These are not very economical to address. So I traded off my problems, for a more powerful vehicle, with zero issues. Please note that my 67 Camaro was a real live car at one time. Driven in Ohio Salt belt winters. If my 67 was on par with updated wiring etc. I wouldn't have traded it off. Maybe you have a better understanding now of why I did what I did. Maybe you would have done a similar thing if it were your decision, knowing some of the facts that went into why I did what I did.
I find that cars that go to "road" tracks have better upkeep than normal cars because we have to have them tested everytime before going on the track... we change pads, rotors, tires, suspension, etc.. for upkeep
I agree Scotty didn’t give any kind of mouth if it wasn’t high gear cruise and it was getting even 40 miles to the gallon at 65 that rpm should be sitting at around a estimate 800 to 1000 RPMs ???
I just bought a 1985 Chevy Camaro Z28 back in August. Got a Tuned Port Injection with 215 horsepower with 15 city and 22 highway gas mileage. Boy those were the days. Technology has come a long way with Camaros today.
The writing was clear a couple of years ago when they stopped offering a manual transmission. The only option left is the Mustang, so get one and hold onto it while you still can.
I liked those IROC Camaros from the late 80s with the Corvette 350. I just wish Chevy had offered them with a manual transmission. Those things could take a beating and a lot of owners gave them just that. It got harder and harder to find them because so many people totaled them.
Fun to drive around town. Long distance sucked, uncomfortable seats. Heavy doors that wore out the hinge pin bushings all the time. Ball joints front end replacements, cheap diffs, manual transmissions issues, intake leaks, injector issues, electric fuel pump replacements from hell, driveshaft, U-joints, vibration issues, T-top leaks, plastic radiator tank leaks and so on. Daily driver's back in the day. Lots of maintenance. Okay if it's just a summer toy
This is the owner of the car. It’s a 10 speed auto and the temperature was ideal, the road was flat, and cruise control from 60-70. You should get really good mileage. 2:55
Mines a 10L80 as well. I really should've wrote that in the past tense. I couldn't get anywhere near that mileage. Mine was around 18-19 too. I still have the car, but it's been tuned and running E85 now. Averages around 14 but the fuel is $1.99. Mileage wasn't a big concern for me, but I was blown away when I saw his mpg.
I have a 2021 2ss convertible and i love it! They really are amazing cars i just wish GM put that pride and build quality into all their cars. Decided buy the CX-5 because the equinox is junk.
WOW! What an awesome car. I LOVE the sound of the engine. I love that it's a pure V8. I have no clue as to how they can engineer it to get 43 mpg. That's insane. I especially love how the owner is taking care of it. Good on ya, man! You rock! I'd love to take a ride in this. If you're ever in the Montgomery, AL area, please contact me. I'll take you to lunch for a ride in it. (You drive, of course.)
@@Brian-dh9lp They can get a muscle car get that kind of mpg but they can't get their half ton trucks with the 5.3 to do even half that. I have a base model GMC that's only a standard cab and only rear wheel drive. I'm getting an average of 16.1 mpg in the summer months, just under that in the winter with the stupid cylinder deactivation and on top of that, I'm a conservative driver and not hard on my vehicles.
it's always a sad day for someone i bet elon musks of the world will be able to buy Ferrari SUVs with V12 engine for a long time though, while everyone else is forced to use self-driving electric pods made by tesla
Until one day, they all receive orders form the cloud to drive the occupants to a concentration camp to be disposed of for the health of the "environment"... 😱
Bro y u gotta spit facts like that?? Shits annoying. All these rich folk will buy the actual interesting cars while shamelessly advertising products they aren't using, while the general public will have to mind numbingly use the self driving pods.
2 grand for pads and rotors all the way around? Calling cap on that. You can go get slotted and drilled rotors and carbon fiber pads for a little over $500 for the front and rear, and those are high performance brakes.
You own a Mustang as well as a Camaro? You're just the second person I've ever heard of that actually has 'em both. I'm the other, I always hear people tell me "aren't you supposed to pick one or the other"?😄
The reading of 41 MPG that the Camaro owner took a picture of is the "instantaneous" fuel economy. Practically ANY vehicle will display a high MPG estimate for a few seconds if you're completely off the accelerator.
ICE ICE BABY! Screw EV's & using the same name on a SUV, dumb GM for following Ford Mustang! Shameful to lose yet another classic sport sedan. DAMN the EPA for making these companies change their manufacturing to suit the green standard. Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR SCOTTY! Thanks for another YEAR of great videos! CHEERS my friend! Stay safe & enjoy!
I know, I don’t know why everyone shits on the Camaro, it’s actually better than a Mustang or a challenger for the money. The LT1 is a bargain for what you get. You need to spend significantly more to outdo an LT1.
I used to own a 67 Camaro, with 331ci engine, 411 gears, T4 speed tranny, Carrera seats w/no back seats and lowered body with moulded flared wheel wells. Color was black with silver top from the upper fenders up and candy apple and candy brandy stripes. She was a beauty but got stolen :(

I've never seen scotty get excited over a GM product he's usually the first one to cut them down.
Ik right you know the Camaro is good😂
My dream restoration car is still a 1968 Z28 with Hurst Mystery Shifter, Midnight Blue Metallic. I’d kill for one.

It really is a shame that this car will no longer be made. Thanks Scotty for a very well made and very funny video! You made my day with your craziness! Lol 😆
I’m from Italy and I own one of these, I love American cars, wish so bad to have born in US…
Believe me you’re much better off where you are.
Get citizenship here bro, love to have people here who actually want to be here.
That moment will take a decade to get it done. 😂👍
no most people charge their ev at home. and most don't drive hundreds of miles a day. so most will eventually have an ev. if they get the price down then it will become an avalanche. people will get used to 1/2hr to charge if doing it at a supercharger or they will only do 15 minutes till they get home. people without a house or ability to home charge may not buy an ev.
I concur, and NIO in China have already been doing it since about 2020.
Nothing like the roar of a Camaro V8, I had three!

Bought a new 1SS Back in 2018. I've taken it to the track at least once a month. 0 problems!
Holding on to my 18 2SS for sure now!!!
Had one of these, absolutely loved the thing. I averaged over 30mpg on flat highways up here in northeast OH. I could cruise at 80mph in 6th gear and the rpms would stay buried.
So glad I got me one. Never trading!
Scotty, you are the Mr Rogers of the automotive world. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood garage.
-> “Mustang” …😢
-> “Camaro” …😩

It's been a sales loser for a decade. The Fast and Furious crowd is a very tiny one. High insurance and high gas prices are bad mix.
@Jack Meeoff I'm stunned anybody would pay $80,000 for a Chevrolet anything? That is the price of a used home around here.
Suvs are more practical for the people who can afford them. Most the people looking at buying a camaro can't afford one especially a v8, for a lot of people the 4cyl or v6 just seems like a waste that's how I see it anyways.
@@Yophillips3272 actually the situation is that those who can afford them, are buying Dodge or Ford.
The 2014 Mustang GT/CS convertible gets about 24 mpg on the interstate if I keep my foot out of it. That’s amazing 41 mpg.
I got myself a black 2022 2SS 1le and I love it
I however did get manual (even with almost 0 previous experience) because I wouldn’t dare get a car like this in anything less. The a10 cool though don’t get me wrong and I will be rolling back on some hills. Pros and cons I guess
Love my 2017 50th Anniversary addition. One of 5000 made.....fantastic car.
Really? I have a 2017 Silver Ice RS 50th Anniversary on my steering wheel does that mean mine is one of 5000 made?

I’ve ridden in a 2019 corvette stingray with the same 6.2 v8 with 455 horsepower. 455 horses is a lot of power, you can’t even utilize it’s entire potential on the street. It’s crazy fast
my 2.9 v6 Porsche pushes out more HP… such a big engine and still not competitive…

I have to have one of these 1 day, 2015 RS is a great daily.

There's no replacement for displacement.... Happy New Year, Scotty!!
As the saying goes, “there’s no replacement for displacement”
I had a 2021 Camaro (my profile pic) sadly it got totaled from someone running a red light. But I’m happy I’m alive still
That was instant mpg, the average mpg will be lower, for me the best I've gotten was 35mpg average. 2019 2ss

This is instant MPG NOT average MPG on that freeway trip.
Lmfao thank you the owner of that car is tripping balls. There’s no way he gets 41mpg in that car.
@@Koghent One must manually calculate MPG to get a real answer. I would suppose if driven at 75 mph on the freeway for an entire tank, it would be around 25-28 mpg.
2022 LT1 same engine, auto trans, I get close to 20 mpg hwy & city. It is great to drive! Always fun.
I just bought a 2023 camaro LT1 and I love it. It’s a treat to drive.
You can never have enough power Scotty!
So Scotty. What is a more reliable V8? A Chevy or Dodge push rod V8 or ford overhead cam V8?
Im glad i got my 2022 2SS with the 1LE because they removed a lot of options for the 2023 models. Also, 40+ miles per gallon? Does he never encounter traffic?! Im over here in NYC and I get AT MOST...14 miles a gallon ON A GOOD day, which are rare, 90% of the time its 11 to 12 😬I only really get to enjoy the power late at night. When I do go on long trips my MPG raises A LOT and I barely make a dent in the gas.
As Hank Jr says, hell or nyc is the same to me😂
If the 2023 is less techy I’d be all over it.

I had a 1967 RS/SS with the 350 engine. It was always fun to drive, especially in straight lines.
Wish I still had it.
When I bought it it cost $650 which was a big sum of money. (1975) lol.
Can we talk more about that newspaper article that you flashed "humped to death by a pet camel"
That Camaro would be fun to drive, but I’d still rather have my 67 Camaro. And I have the rattles down to just one now.
I traded my 67 RS SS Camaro Vert for a 2013 ZL1 vert. The 13 is more fun, handles better, safer etc.
@@annathemaanderson4448 not to be offensive but u not very smart.
I find that cars that go to "road" tracks have better upkeep than normal cars because we have to have them tested everytime before going on the track... we change pads, rotors, tires, suspension, etc.. for upkeep
Nice cars I love my 1LE 👍🏽!!
41 mpg down hill with the wind. I've owned two gen 6 1LEs and they get about 25 to 27 on the highway which is still great !
Back then why people buy a new slower car when they can buy a 10 plus year older faster car
Scotty I do the 50% oil life change which turns out to be around 3500 miles and my oil test results are fantastic and my engine is in great shape
The writing was clear a couple of years ago when they stopped offering a manual transmission.
The only option left is the Mustang, so get one and hold onto it while you still can.
Transmission has nothing to do with it. It's been a sales loser for over a decade.
Happy New Year, Scotty! 🎉🎉🎉
I liked those IROC Camaros from the late 80s with the Corvette 350. I just wish Chevy had offered them with a manual transmission. Those things could take a beating and a lot of owners gave them just that. It got harder and harder to find them because so many people totaled them.
Cash for clunkers eliminated a shitload too.
I owed a few of those. High maintenance, not great cars. Haha that was the 80s though!

@@steveauston6020 that's not true.
Fun to drive around town. Long distance sucked, uncomfortable seats. Heavy doors that wore out the hinge pin bushings all the time. If you have a manual that could be why. The autos have AFM so you go into "v4" mode when driving "normal"
