They tune 2 steps down and then drop the 6th string another step to A#. So he is playing in Drop A# here. In Flames has used this tuning pretty much exclusively ever since Soundtrack to Your Escape. Prior to that, they wrote pretty much everything in C Standard tuning and didn't drop.
they used drop A# in "Reroute to remain" too. System for example. And drop G in "transparent"
And Drop A# tuning on “Ordinary Story”, “Colony”, “Pinball Map”, and a couple other songs, pre-STYE.
Drop A#? You're pretty much playing bass at that point
@@dud1m0us A#1 is basically like 1 semitone higher than the open A bass string, but since the scale lenght is much smaller and the strings thinner (the E string is about thick as the D string on the bass on the strings Bjorn uses) it's still much different, for instance baritone guitars are tuned to B standard. Usually bassists use a 5 string bass to compliment such dropped tunings so the frequencies go together well. Personally on a 25.5 scale guitar I wouldnt go bellow Drop A even with the thickest strings

It must be an internal struggle to be the main songwriter/guitar player for one of the biggest metal bands on the planet yet be so low on yourself. I personally like players who aren't classically trained in theory. They play what feels and sounds good, not what's supposed to sound good.
The other main guitarist/songwriter is even lower on himself. Jesper... he does 100% struggle. Bjorn is far more outgoing and generally "normal". More like a "healthy humble" person than a person who struggles...

Met him at the bar after a consert in Sweden. Really cool guy!
Met him and the whole band after a show here in Texas. He was very nice, and really wanted to know what the fans thought about the show and the new music. Can't express how nice he is. The rest of the band is just as nice, but since he is the one in the video here..... Go see them live!

Je pense que vous avez mal compris, il voulait dire qu'ils sont accordés en STANDARD C (puis mis en dropped A#) et non en drop C.

That said I don't think he should sit there telling people he can't play his own riffs, if he can't play them properly then what's the point?
He play some chug riffs upward, which is kinda weird,but who cares if it sounds good, but what he means is that his technique is not "right"
He keeps saying i am good but honestly im just a beginner. Just wanted to check out some mad ass riffs from my favorite ban. Nice lession tho, will try to prac this later

can anyone explain why Bjorn thinks his picking is 'awkward'? - Is he picking using his arm, not his wrist?
Idk, his technique looks fine to me! He's anchoring his fingers under the bridge pickup, pretty common, and using economy of motion to alternate up/down picks. He's got great technique!

the last riff im sure sounds like their usual tuning which is drop Bb but he said C? its a drop tuning but too low for C
He probably means that the whole guitar is tuned to C and they drop the top string down to B

That is not Drop C at all. I'm talking Drop D style tuning:
EADGBE -> DADGBE
so you can powerchord with one finger

BF#BEG#C#
and that is the only Drop B tuning for electric guitar there is. Look it up.
Technically not the only drop B. Theres also Drop B in standard variation.

Nope. Standard Les Paul scale, 24.75". They just tune down and hope to have intonation within the ballpark.

They do. But drop A# is just "drop D" tuning from C standard. So technically, he wasn't lying, but he could have clarified it better. In the old days In Flames played in C standard more often so hes probably just used to calling it "C" no matter which variation of it hes actually using at the time.
