I was employed as a nuclear chemical operator at Hanford Atomic Works. I drove this exact same stretch of road, the bypass highway, more than any other road in my entire life and second place isn't remotely close. The comments section is wrong. There are two "bumper to bumper" traffic jams per day on this highway. Hanford reservation is the Tri-Cities largest employer, and the bypass highway is the only commute path. Every bit as bad as Seattle. Trust me, I had a girlfriend that lived in Seattle, and I made the 4.5-hour trip a couple times a month and I have seen my share of Seattle's I-5 traffic jams. Finally, it is very common to curse at all the stop lights and no, there isn't a faster alternative route. The Tri Cities is a semi-arid desert that typically surpasses 100 degrees for 30+ days a year. The spring pollen dries out and becomes airborne seasonally early and it feels like the allergen capital of the world. Add in some thick, seasonally blown in forest fire smoke and breathing becomes a chore. Not recommended for folks with asthma.
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing Definitely. We get over 300 days of sunshine, on average, every year. At one time we were in the top 5 as far as growth goes for the three immediate cities, plus the outlying areas. We are supposed to be getting an Amazon distribution center here as well, and the Colville Tribe is planning on putting a casino here, just north of Pasco, at the King City truck stop area. This area is full of history too. Lewis and Clark camped at what is now Pasco, on their way down the Columbia River to the ocean in 1805. The only thing I hate about the Tri-Cities is that it can get quite windy here, and we do get heat waves here during the summer.
The highlights of the video could have been the beautiful Columbia River and the successful businesses, vs. sitting at the red lights in traffic on the bypass.
I GREW UP IN THE TRI CITIES IT IS EASY TO DRIVE IF YOU KNOW THE AREA. MOST PEOPLE THAT LIVE HERE WAIT TELL SUMMER AND HEAD NORTH. BUT THE ROADS BEING CONFUSING IS TRUE. I LIKE RICHLAND OUT OF THE 3 THEN COMES PASCO.
I have no idea why the crime rate is so high. I was born in Richland in 1955 and haven’t been back in 50 years. I feel an urge to visit my hometown, but my research scared me when I saw how high the crime rate is.
I've lived here most of my life and we do have crime but I've heard other stats that say the opposite. I would of moved if crime was high. This area is great for someone whose got their head on straight. High paying government jobs in both high tech to agriculture. This area has by far the most food processing plants ect in the state with well paying jobs that never depend on Hanford jobs.
Nice thing living in tri-city is you rarely have traffic jam.
That would be awesome! Easy to get out of town and back to town :)
Definitely I moved to Seattle after living here and it was insane
Thanks for recording this, I visited tricities on 2021 and I was remembering this beatiful place. Grettings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
You are welcome :)
It’s a beautiful place
I agree :)

Thank you for verifying that, those lights were driving me crazy! For fun I will try the route through town next time :)
I live in Kennewick. Southridge area, south end of town.
Awesome, I really like that area, so much sunshine and warmth compared to western Washington. I imagine it will keep booming!

A casino would be fun, hopefully a campground is included? I like how centrally located the area is plus housing is more affordable :)

I wish I had not taken the bypass, going through town would have been much better. Next time :)
I stayed in Richland
My home Kennewick Washington
Nice, you live in a great area! I really like the tri-cities with the rivers and awesome views.

Cool, I will try and see the main business district next time.
Should have went through the towns from the very end. Still would have made decent time.
I wish I would have, I try not to listen to Google maps navigation anymore when in towns, I want to see them :)
Super high crime rate, in the worst 5% of all US cities. If you like living on the edge, this is the place for you.
Wow, serious, why so high?

This is false! I just looked up the crime statistics and they are much lower than most US cities!

I live in Pasco and your info is wrong!
