You probably can't just run to
the store to get a pair of work
gloves,but remember they save
wear and tear on the hands!
Keep up the good work restoring
old things we appreciate it!😊
Awesome looking great...like new!!!
Thanks 👍
Pro tip Dan, use some wood ash add a little water to make a paste and you can clean the glass on your wood stove then wipe off 👍🏻🇨🇦
Great idea, thanks!
Wood ash and water will clean the glass 👍🏻
Thanks for the tip!
Toothpaste does a nice job too.
All you need to do to clean the glass is use white vinegar and ashes from the inside. Pour a little vinegar onto paper towels and dip into dry ashes then scrub glass with it. Use glass cleaner to clean up the glass.
This works fantastic and you’ll be amazed at how easy it is
Thanks for the tips! I’ll try it out!
Excited for the fixed stove. It’s great you have your own cabin. Stove looks good.
Thanks so am I!
Your parents should look into a hovercraft to and the air boat . They use that Alaska in a lot of places. Also, make sure there’s a damper on your little pot stove.
Will do thanks!
The stove was perfect and nice, it's fun to have a place for you near the family! Good work you did!see you next week !❤😊
Thanks! Yes it is!
Looks great! You take pride in your work. Looking forward to seeing future videos
Nice work Dan. You're cabin is becoming a home.
Thanks, it definitely feels like it!
You want a T connector outside so rain wont run into the stove
Just purchased one and will be adding it soon!
if its the side door to the workshop.. you need to get some barn type sliding doors.. to open up the place.
That’s a good idea!
You have done a fantastic job on that stove and I have loved your video and look forward to the next.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it!

Hi Dan. Wood stove chimney installation is no joke! If you following the existing pipe install ? It is NOT to code! WET certified a must! Do some more research fella Cheers.
2:45 Dan, you're certainly getting heavy lifting figured out! lol Loved seeing this video since I'm getting ready to rehab an old stove too!
Dan thank you really like your videos.really love the lake that would be so nice. I live in Texas. I am homebound can’t be out in public because of a compromised immune system and I just think that would be so awesome to live on a lake like you and your family do once again thank you so much for your great videos.

You did a great job, that stove looks awesome!
Thank you!
Wood ashes clean the glass very well.
Great advice thanks!
Dan great job on the stove looks very good
Thanks!
Stove looks great!
Thanks!
Stove polish is the best finish. First burns will be smelly but after that is great!!!
Good to know! Thanks!
They have a spray paint that’s heat proof and you can paint it pretty black some do them a powder blue and they look like new stoves 🎉
Great advice thanks!
God bless you keep up the good work
Thank! Will do, God bless!
When you finally have a fire and you have it hot, crush up news paper to wipe the glass on the unside. the soot and black burnt stuff should come off real easy.
Great advice thanks!
thank you for sharing Blessed Easter to you and family
Thanks! And to you too!
I'm no chimney expert but I think your pipes are backwards, making it easier for the smoke to escape as it goes up the chimney.
Dan have your folks got a sack barrow you can use for moving heavy stuff around. That stove looks a treat. You do things when you have the money & time. Are you going to do that window sometime? . Have a good one
Happy Easter
Thanks, to you as well!
you may need to put up a heat shield behind the stove
Will do, Thanks!
Wow!
Hola , no te preocupes es bien facil colocar la chimenea y colocar el plastico en la ventana con el sellador tambien , te saludo desde Uruguay
I’ll give it a try! Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
Dan, Too bad you couldn’t do a quick sandblast on it to just remove the surface
Yeah that would have made it just like new!
Simple woodstove glass cleaning hack.
Get some cooled down ashes from your wood stove make it into a thick paste with water scrub it into the glass thoroughly then wipe it clean. Might need to do a few more coats until it's nice and clean. ❤👍
Thanks for the info!
Measure the pipe diameter as well.
Will do!
And before you put in pipes to fit the stove how about putting doors on your cabinets behind the stove it will make your room look better
What was the black stuff you used on the stove?
It’s called stove paste not sure what the brand is, I’ll mention it in the next vid. 👍🏻
A tee pice of stove pipe go's out side for cleaning not a elbow
Your old pipes were installed backwards.
Thanks for pointing that out! I’ll make sure to fix that with the new pipes!
@@danvanstralen if you haven’t been told today. Your Awesome.
work shirtless?
Not in this cold! 😂
Great job on the stove, buddy. Another way a good glass cleaner is baking soda and vinegar. Sprinkle it on. Let the vinegar boil up on it and wipe it right off it works great for sinks and bathtub. Piping gets rid of the smell breaks down all the grease. when you take the pipe out make sure that the inner sleeve is still in good shape and that you have good insulation on the inner wall, yeah great video. Keep themcoming, it’s always a good thing too to take the pipe off about once a month if you burn a lot of fires get all that junk out it will last forever 😊 ok 👌🏼 🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out PS y’all also want to double check that pipe that’s going up to the top. You want it to go on the inside, not the outside of the elbow on the bottom. I hope that makes sense. Looks like it was flipped upside down. Just saying 😊
Great video. I restored my dad's pot belly stove. I'm not sure how to attach a picture to comments
Thanks! I’m not really sure how to do that either. 😂
Love your content for a young man getting started, how do I join your patreon?

Great video Dan
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice cinematography! Keep up the great work. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, will do!
We use oven cleaner for the glass in our pellet stove which was suggested by a friend. Works really well!
Great tip! Thanks!
Can't wait !
I don’t understand why you don’t burn the wood for heat rather than wasting it.
The wood pile behind the cabin Is many years old and mostly rotten, a lot of the pieces are green treated as well.
From West Chester, OH - great video Dan. I so enjoyed the education of the wood stove renovation - they last forever don’t they? P.S. Your scenic views and music were so comforting. I’ll be rewatching this one - it’s so well done!
I’m glad to hear it, thanks!
Thanks for the content. I’m going to work on cleaning up an old wood stove I have …I hadn’t thought about it until I saw this.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are the best for cleaning that glass in your wood stove!
Thanks for the tip!
Ifyouwantaneasy glass cleaner use someashfromthestove and wet it a bit on some newspaper. Works great
Great idea thanks!
3/31/24= Happy Easter from Chas.,SC Dan, Beautiful video of the snow coming down! You did a great job on your stove, looks good!
Thanks! Happy Easter!
Great job! Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Thanks! Will do!
Stove looks much better! Do you have to have brick for the stove to stand on or have behind it as protection?
Great job on the stove! It looks almost new. Very nice video!
Thank you very much!
You can use oven cleaner on the glass. It works great.
Great tip! Thanks!
Disregard "the glove advice!"
Great job cleaning up your wood stove Dan
Thanks 👍
@@danvanstralen you could’ve scraped the rust off using a wire wheel on a drill that could’ve been faster on all the flat surfaces on the stove and then use the brush that you were using in the video and all the nooks and crannies
That outside fire with you and your brother could very easily get into the Pineneedle bed below it, and into the roots below that and create a real problem. It’s a little concerning to watch.
Hey great video! One question for you. What winter coat is your dad wearing in beginning of video?
It’s a “Striker” floatation coat 🧥 👍🏻
