Really looking forward to the follow-ups. My flying wouldn’t show it, but I’ve been relentlessly dumping all my extra pennies (and limited spare time) into FPV since late 2015, starting with my OG Hubsan X4 107C or someshit - back when Steele was winning racing (!?!?) championships, digging through hundreds of RCGroups posts was the only way to find any useful info, and Charpu was still blowing our minds on the regular. And “dammit these kids just don’t know how good they’ve got it nowadays. Back in my time...” ...much love Rollins! Cheers!
Tommy is a local in my area. I remember 1st time flying with him back in 2014 when we would have bbq fpv meet ups. Cool to listen about the old times. Thanks for this series!
Hey Tommy, Us Old Guys That Still Own Their DEVO Deviation 8-Channel TXs w/Their Big Yellow Walkera Runner 250 Pro Advanced GPS Quadcopters Still LUV You Man! 🤣
Mike, after watching the whole thing I just wanna say of course thanks for the interview and also I love your current attitude, looks like you're doing great and are just completely here and aiming for a good place, you know.... Anyway, big hugs from your German-Internet-FPV friend. ;-P 🤗
Thank you :) It really went through a lot of changes but I like where it is now. I've been thinking about a studio tour, but then I realize that I'd have to deal with the pile of "stuff to deal with" in the corner...
Great video series concept. I’ll for sure be checking out the whole series, can’t wait man. Would like to hear more about Ummagawd’s transition to FPV. I felt like It was cut short, unless that’s on the next episode? Good stuff Man!
this is going to be a great watch thanks mike ive been into quads since 2014 so remember the stuff we had lol weve come a long way i flew los for 1 year before going to fpv i think it was the norm back then
👍🏻 Thanks from a Mavic 2 camera drone kinda guy… Someone who will never have the balls to take my new DJI FPV drone OUT of “Normal” or “Sport” modes. “Manual” (acro) mode will remain just a dream. 😥 Seriously..Thanks for your video interviews! 😀
Thanks man! I have one of the DJI FPV drones and it is a great drone to learn FPV on. You need (need need need) to do it. Step one: Fly the sim. For hours. Fly the sim. Step two: Go out to a big field, get up high and change into “Manual” mode. Keep it way up and get a feel for things. Step three: Practice with the pause button. This is a game changer. Step four: Switch back to another mode to land. That’s the hardest part with FPV (kind of) If you only do it once it will change how you think about these aircraft. It is worth it.
I’m going to enjoy this series. I got into FPV once Charpu had been posting on video for a little while. The QAV250 and the Blackout (do I have that right?) we’re the big thing. In fact that’s a QAV300 in my avatar. Longer armed baseplate available sometime after the qav250 came out so you wouldn’t have to use arm extensions to run 6 inch props.
Dude I hate how relaxed you are but it's mainly cuz I'm jealous and need to grow up. Your awesome. Tommy is hilarious, all fucked yo at Coachella trippin on a drone. That's kinda my story but my trip was during the 4th of July.
😂😂😂 I hear you. There are occasional moments where I squee in private. But what I’ve learned is that all these folks are just normal people. They do lots of cool stuff but they, like all of us, are disasters in their own way. 😊
@@MichaelRollins Maybe this is something one should dig into. When I see videos with the title of History of FPV, the first place my head goes to is Blackout and his frames, MultiWii, BaseFlight, etc. I came into FPV, in late 2016, (I just looked it up) spent over $1200 at get FPV, purchasing my first X9D, QAV250, HD3. During that build, I got a lot of references about the Blackout and how QAV frames were just Blackout clones. Those posts I felt were wrong, but it did have me go back and look into him and those frames. I guess the meaning to this long post, to do this History well. You need to talk with the only man I know was there from the VERY begging that is TBS Trappy. He might know where some of these guys are. Maybe Dominic Clifton aka Hydra , if he is still around, these two would know the start of FPV and mini drones.
Shortest Micheal Rollins interview ever. Just kidding, you did say there’s a part deuce. Can’t wait for it, this was just a short snippet of the rest of it. Micheal, you really know how to keep your audience in suspense. Bravo!!! 👏
Thanks man! There are 3 more. Trying something different this time. I’m going to let these come out one a week and see how it goes from a sustainability standpoint.
oh shit rollins back!
Don’t call it a comeback, Bot. I’ve been here for yeaaaaars! How are you, buddy?
Also Juz70! He's an awesome pilot since forever!

Hah! Well, Tommy is the real deal, I just like to listen to my own voice.

Thanks for watching! And yeah, an FPV cookout sounds like it'd be awesome.

Thanks man! Always good to hear from you! I hope you’re doing well 😊
You have some real historical light bulbs to give flavor as a carbon thread filament historian. Enjoyed this interview.
Haha thank you good sir!
Lighting it on point Michael
Thanks bud! Like your stuff, as well 😊
Your studio looks much much much better! Totally professional NOW!
Thank you :) It really went through a lot of changes but I like where it is now. I've been thinking about a studio tour, but then I realize that I'd have to deal with the pile of "stuff to deal with" in the corner...
This was awesome. Love Tommy and really looking forward to Part 2!
It's out! Go check it out :)
@@MichaelRollins Better yet, joined your Patreon and am watching the whole thing! Great work, fantastic interview.

The whole series is 1 long interview cut into 4 parts. That will be the format going forward. So, some of it will likely be covered later.
Oh yea Mr. Mike Rollins, this is a really great idea for a video series!!
Thanks man! It’s going to be a good one.
this is going to be a great watch thanks mike ive been into quads since 2014 so remember the stuff we had lol weve come a long way i flew los for 1 year before going to fpv i think it was the norm back then

Just make sure to switch back to normal before landing and you'll be fine. The panic button is there for a reason!

Yeah man. I’m enjoying this one 😊
love this!
And I love piratical men with beards and ear hoops.
oh yessss!
Enjoy!
my favorite person in fpv!!! 🤘
I’m so honored that I’m your favorite person in… oh, you mean Tommy. Got it. Yeah, he’s ok… 😂😂😂
It's a good combination
I built several t copters
How do they fly?
@@MichaelRollins lol don’t have anymore or them but they flew like a dinosaur 🦖
Ground control frames are bitchin, I have the flatcat 7 and it's solid
Good stuff for sure!

+1👍 short and sweet 💪
They all will be. Releasing 1hr+ episodes did me no good last time.
I thought blackout passed away in 2016? At least thats what was rumored. Julz is active on IG these days.
That would make sense. I’m honestly not sure. I’ll see if I can find Juz.
