That magnificent blue, that phenomenal bracelet and clasp, that to-die-for luminous dial; it is such a handsome tool watch!!! I hope one day it will join my MOTFM in a rotation. GREAT review!
They were the two I was looking at 4 years ago or so. Not natural competitors, but similar prices, I’m still thinking about them all these years later, still haven’t committed. The only thing I’ll say, is that I’ve seen the Pelagos go for as little as £1600, with the MOTFM going no lower than £2500 really. I still really want both, though.
The beauty in the rugged look of Pelagos with that titanium bracelet in that blue color is mesmerizing. Pictures and videos do not do justice, you gotta experience that watch in person.
I love the black version of the Pelagos, it was my grail when it came out, but I’ve been looking at other timepieces, now you’ve got me all moist over the Pelagos, Marc.....I want one for my Phist!
Just gone for a Pelagos in noir and love it's clean utilitarian lines, (comparatively) low weight, amazing bezel, dazzling lume and adjustable bracelet. Compared to the Omega it's quite low key (a couple of colleagues have SMPs) and I like that it has a conservative functional look. With 500m water resistance, auto He valve, titanium construction, 70 hour power reserve and excellent accuracy from the in house movement (it has not gained or dropped a second over the two weeks it's been on my wrist) it really is the definitive tool watch.
I have both watches, an older 2531.80 omega and the new co ax movement and also the pelagos with the new in house movement. Love all 3 but I think you get more bang per buck with the Tudor and LOVE the titanium bracelet its feather light and you mentioned the 70 hour power reserve, awesome
I loved the beautiful blue colour of the pelagos at the AD (you need to see that blue in person), but when back home , thinking about it I want the black as it’s more like a futuristic Rolex sub and that appeals to me , oh and the price
Great video!!! Thank you Marc I recently decided on the outgoing SMPc for my first an only luxury watch - over a Pelagos bc of the thickness, the titanium just was a bit much. Still really like both watches. In a perfect world I’d own both, unquestionably. This is quality content - thanks!
Wow--I COMPLETELY agree with you, Mark. The Pelagos is superior as a straight tool watch, but I like the Seamaster more for its combination of tool and style. The bezel on the Tudor is functionally better than the one on the Omega, but the scalloped bezel on the Seamaster is adequate and I like its dressier, more elegant look. This is certainly a case where one can own both watches--as you do--and find plenty of occasions to wear each of them.
Both are amazing but that Omega Seamaster is just so versatile as a dive/dress watch! I was in a dilemma between these watches as well. I ended up getting the Omega Seamaster 300m because I work in an office environment and needed a good looking watch! Gets plenty of compliments and a great conversation starter!
Sorry, but the Pelagos is an extremely well designed and engineered watch. I own a Rolex Batman and Hulk. Since i have have the Pelagos, i didnt wear them anymore 😅 I dont care about the value, but Tudor is the new BOSS
@@Mint-cb2vc Silly comment. I'm an Omega fan (two Seamsters) but Tudor is the better value for the money. It's more rugged, pure tool watch, better adjustable bracelet, 70 hour power reserve...all for less money. .

The Tudor has the authentic tool watch look. The satin titanium and matt dial/bezel looks very cool. The Omega looks a bit try-hard and blingy. I wouldn't wear either with a suit and I think only the Submariner can get away with that.
The Pelagos is certified chronometer too (COSC). Though the tolerances are tighter with METAS, in reality I've seen better accuracy with the Tudor MT in-house movements than the METAS coaxials. I have one tudor which runs +0.5 SPD and another at +1.2 SPD. Saying that, the Omega SMP has a 15,000 gauss anti-mag, which is technically insane (over 1,000,000 a/m), it's an overall better movement, but the Tudor in house are great movements too
@@8AP1 I think the point being made is that the Omega undergoes both certifications. My COSC+METAS certified AT is more accurate than my Rolex 114300 which is under +2 s/d straight from the factory. I got tired of the flashyness of the luxury watches (my last watch was a Chronomat) so I pulled the trigger with the blue Pelagos. Even on my 7 inch wrist it wears in full comfort and the readability is like nothing I had before. Titanium makes it light for such size of a watch and in the same time more scratch resistant than stainless steel.
Tudor...Titanium plus 70hrs reserve plus in house movement and bezel lume wins it for me. I also own the seamaster and submariner .Tudor is like a tough luxury watch with less polishing and less fancy than the submariner but as capable if not more than the sub or SM just my humble opinion
Like both but sometimes the blue on the pelagos is a little too blue. Combined with the matte everything it felt a little off in terms of colors. I passed on the pelagos and own the blue version of the 2018 smp.
Pelagos. Power reserve, lume, water resistance, price. However, They belong to different caregories. A comparison with the Omega PO would be most interesting
The value is a little stronger on the Tudor - with the rubber strap and the lower price. I'm all in on the Omega though. They KILLED it with the changes to that watch. It's really a nice watch and it can go from the beach to the boardroom
Both are 42mm which I love. The Pelagos is Titanium which kills it for me right away. I prefer SS above all other materials. For me, the Omega is by far the better looking watch. I like the Omega bracelet better. The wart doesn't at all bother me.
Depends what you want. The Omega has the better movement. Ignore the nonsense here, the double barrel movement keeps better rate stability over 2 days whereas the Tudor movement loses some accuracy after the first 24 hours. There's a always a tradeoff. Only an idiot would dive with an automatic watch on the tail end of a 70 hour power reserve so all these "the Tudor movement has the better power reserve" comments are silly. Get a watch winder or maybe wear it 😁 So what, basically. The Omega looks dressier and you might wear it with a suit. The dial is very legible and looks elegant. The bezel looks rich in the way a Rolex bezel does. The Tudor's bezel is matte & functional. The lumed markers are a nice surprise however. The Tudor's automatic HeV looks much cleaner, its lume is the best I've seen & it feels very comfortable due to the tapered bracelet and light weight. If you actually think you'll dive or scuba with your watch, probably pick the Tudor. If you want the best finishing, get the Omega. Both are great watches but they're quite different. The Tudor is a quality Swiss watch with a functional design for people who might actually use it. The Omega is a capable watch but its market is more likely desktop divers. The Omega will hold its value a bit better perhaps but neither will compare with a Rolex. Both are brilliant in their own right & good value for what they are.
As a owner of the black Pelagos 42 I think my answer is self explanatory. Pelagos always flies under the radar, doesn't give a F he's blingy, making it incredible easy to combo with different straps. I love how straight forward it is without unneeded bling. Makes for a more mature watch. That being said I wouldn't mind owning a SMP too but it's a bit too posh for me.

I own the SMP (2018) with the Blue dial, when looking for a couple of watches looked at it and the Pelagos, the Pelagos look flat and bland looking, winner SMP, but Tudor didn't lose out, I picked up a Black Bay Heritage (in-house movement) Burgandy Bezel as well. Both watches complement each other in my collection!
Going between the omega white dial 300 and the Tudor black bay 58 with the red aluminum bezel. I know the better watch is the omega but I do very much enjoy the style of the faux patina and vintage look of the bb58. But the white dial is mesmerizing aswell. Tough decisions
I try to love Omega and I will always recommend people check them out they are great watches. For me though I just don't like their looks. Id take the Tudor.
Another great video Marc, but I just don’t get the silver dial of the Omega? It looks wrong. Watches don’t normally have dials that overpower the hands and markers like the chrome dial does. I have the all blue version and I think it looks so much better than the chrome. The black is also gorgeous.
As I wear my SMPc (previous gen, 41mm, black lacquer dial) with a suit on a daily basis, my choice would be the dressier Omega, but the toolish Pelagos is awesome, too. Great timepieces!
Nice review. But in the final comparison there’s the qualifier ‘you can wear this to the beach or the boardroom or wedding’. When is this ever a real issue that you need to have one watch do both? Also, it’s a matter of attitude. Bond wore a Submariner with a tux in 1963; considered inappropriate for the time, it soon became iconic.
I had the Omega SMP and I flipped it (for. Submariner of course) but I still flipped it because it felt too heavy. I’m waiting on my Pelagos which will arrive very soon and I’m so thrilled about the lume on the bezel and the 70hrs power reserve. Although the Omega looks great on the rubber band... oh mannn maybe I’ll get it back one day who knows.
Overall, the pelagos is the winner because it is much less expensive, the movement is great, and it has the longer power reserve and has the best strap.
Both are too big and the Tudor is too thick, but I can't seem to get past the wart on the Omega. I wish they made a 40mm version of the Seamaster with no wart. Maybe there is in vintage. Good points you made Marc. good video for sure. Hope it will help people if they are having trouble deciding. Tudor does have a couple I like, blackbay in the 39mm and not as thick as the regular blackbay.
Like the design of the Pelagos much better than the Omega. If they would do a 40mm version of it, I would want one. Even better, in the combination of the lefty.
Late to the party here but I’ve owned both, it Pelagos is the better watch IMO. For some reason I wasn’t a fan of the omega bracelet, skeletonized hands, and bezel grip. Omega does have more polish which I know is a draw for many, the Tudor has a toolish look. At the end of the day they are both awesome watches with their own unique design signature, which is a win and rare with all the sub homages now days.

Going between the omega white dial 300 and the Tudor black bay 58 with the red aluminum bezel. I know the better watch is the omega but I do very much enjoy the style of the faux patina and vintage look of the bb58. But the white dial is mesmerizing aswell. Tough decisions
If we just have a steel Pelagos...
The grayish color of the titanium is not growing on me, but between the two, I'd pick the Pelagos.
Subz same, love everything about pelagos except that, it's a dealbreaker. Maybe the "coin edge" or whatever its called is a bit too fine too.
I like the Omega Aqua Terra GoodPlanet
Great video Marc, both watches are great pieces 👌🏾⌚⌚⌚⌚⌚👍🏾
Excellent video!
Tudor lume, and handset legibility overall.
I try to love Omega and I will always recommend people check them out they are great watches. For me though I just don't like their looks. Id take the Tudor.
Same
Spoken like a true watch enthusiast. Even though it’s not for you, you can appreciate what they offer and see why others might gravitate toward it.
Another great video Marc, but I just don’t get the silver dial of the Omega? It looks wrong. Watches don’t normally have dials that overpower the hands and markers like the chrome dial does. I have the all blue version and I think it looks so much better than the chrome. The black is also gorgeous.
Great review, loved it 👍
Both excellent watches. Thanks for the great video
As I wear my SMPc (previous gen, 41mm, black lacquer dial) with a suit on a daily basis, my choice would be the dressier Omega, but the toolish Pelagos is awesome, too. Great timepieces!
Interesting review Marc, thanks. Provides good comparison/contrast to my Planet Ocean. Cheers⌚✊
Is the dive extension on the Pelagos thinner because titanium is much stronger??
Probably
Did the sea master blow up cuz of the James Bond history in movies? Or even without the bond movies would it be so popular
I think a little of both, bond sure helped but it’s a solid good looking and speced watch
Omega smp is better on rubber strap
Excuse me, which one has good texture and strong night light? How much is the price? Thank you
Overall, the pelagos is the winner because it is much less expensive, the movement is great, and it has the longer power reserve and has the best strap.
I wont do grade 2 titanium for a watch anymore. I absolutely hate how easily it stratches. Grade 5 is the only way to do titanium.
Compare with Pelagos LHD. It's super comfortable because of the crown on the left side.
Pelagos all the way!
The Omega without a moment's hesitation.
What size wrist do u have. Mine is 7.75 inch and I worry these will be to small. The extra thickness on the pelagos is a concern
Tudor is my pick.. it’s a tool watch and Tudor made the better tool.
Do you still have the Omega SMP?
Even though I know it’s coming, I look forward to your wrist watch check paint splash graphic. Very original.
