    As Russell stated in his book/autobiography My Booky Wook. How Russell as a child would lure his mothers little dog up the stairs, the dog wasn’t allowed upstairs and the dog knew that, so would slowly climb the stairs following Russells commands. When the small dog reached the top of the stairs, it would be weary! Why? That’s when Russell would then kick the small dog down the flight of stairs. Then run after the dog, calling it names and reprimanding the dog for going upstairs. I’m a huge dog lover, I love my dog so much. I can’t imagine what that little dog went through. Plus he wrote that book as an adult, included this story, because he thinks it’s funny. It’s not. If you take delight in harming vulnerable animals (including his poor treatment of his gerbils, which resulted in two of them dying) Russell growing up to be a abuser of women isn’t surprising to me.

      Did he say he thought it was funny? Kids left alone can do things and not think it's cruel. Kids are cruel. They have to be taught otherwise. He was left alone alot as a child, then I'm his early teens taken to brothel's. I'm not saying what he did is right, not at all. He makes everything I to a joke. That's what comedians do. @@Mariet31People can change, but this particular type of behavior involving SA, as he is charged with, is extremely hard to treat. There is a low cure rate. In America, people with SA problems are not treated by family therapists. They end up seeing specialized therapists who only deal with criminals. They are forced after they have been through the court system and it is court ordered. They will not seek therapy on their own because of denial and because of disclosure laws. It has to be reported to authorities. I am skeptical of him changing.

    So, here's my issue with his response. He speaks (past and present) about how he use to be both an extreme opioid/drug/alcohol addict and sex addict. When people are on the world's most dangerous drugs, to the point of blacking out, how can one decry that all relationships were/are absolutely, unequivocally, consensual. How DOES he KNOW? You cannot... Especially with absolute certainty.
    **EDIT** : I didn't realize that Brand claims to have been sober since 2002. I STILL question why he felt the need to bring up his 20 year old addiction issues, in this proclamation video. If his addiction(s) have no bearing on the current accusations, why does he bring them up? An excuse? As a shield? I feel like he's essentially saying 'I use to be these things. I've been honest about that. Therefore I cannot be a person who commits such heinous crimes.'
    So, the addiction is relevant to Brand, at least. Why else bring them up?

While we always hope for the best, it is possible that we encounter the worst. There are people that have come forward to state he accepted rejections on advances, many cases he had babysitters and witnesses but this doesn't mean it always played out that way. Due to this being a legal situation I doubt he would want to admit there may have been a grey area where he was too intoxicated to process things correctly or that he was on his best behavior and didn't wear someone down in a way he thought charming at the time. Exposed palms, pointing fingers, extremely expressive hand gestures.... after watching his channel for a long time, I see these as nothing more than his normal, baseline body language. I see understandable defensiveness, some anger, his natural tendency to a little (imo unattractive) arrogance but also some nervousness. To me, the nervousness could either be read as guilt or simply him being scared about the enormity of his current situation. The video jump cuts aren't in his favour, I agree.
    I have never warmed to his personality, I'm not an avid fan but his documentation of the 'truth' has been nothing short of impeccable and weighing in my thoughts after following his videos and then seeing the documentary covering both the victims and the media's portrayal of this situation, I'm heavily leaning in Russell's favour.

With that being said...we need to hear out these alleged victims, and I'll be honest, I would not be surprised if he had engaged in this behavior he's being accused of. He is a self-professed sex addict, former drug addict, and fame addict, and an extremely powerful figure. How could he possibly know that every one of his myriad sexual encounters at the height of his fame and power was absolutely consensual? Surely that's for his partners to weigh in on as well! He might have coerced people without even being fully conscious of doing so. Making it into some kind of conspiracy is taking himself way too seriously, imho. I was waiting fir your analysis to watch this entire video, Brand makes me uncomfortable and always has. I have to give credit for his openness about his struggles with addiction. Also if someone says “no” over and over and over until that say yes, that’s not consent. Coercion doesn’t equal consent. You need consent for every sexual act, including in relationships. If it’s not an enthusiastic “yes” that’s not consent.
    I can’t stand conspiracy theorists especially in regard to Covid. I’m immunocompromised, disabled, and mostly home bound due to a terminal genetic illness so I’m still masking, getting boosters, and following the rise in cases. I first saw this video of Russell a couple of days ago and was surprised and not surprised . I remember when his career started off and he was not the type in the public eye to behave much. There seemed to be a line that he usually did not cross talking on stage about women and the drugs he used . This causes a blurred line in my ideas that although he would jokingly talk about women and drugs and he was open about both but when one ( Russell or anyone ) has drugs in their system they do not behave the way they usually would .
    Now maybe the women coming forward about Russell now are telling the truth and Russell is not in the same mindset he was while he was with these women to remember or even wants to remember that he treated a woman with disrespect as to take advantage of a situation .
    I do know in recent times that Russell is now a dad and becoming a dad changes everything about who someone is and although it is not and should not be a "get out of jail" card... it does make me reflect . All and all If he is guilty than he needs to serve his time just like any other famous man that has used their situation to take advantage over another person sexually or physically abusive . Russell Brand's body language and vocal tones seem similar to what I have seen before. He believes what he is saying which is not to say he acted appropriately with any of these women. Mr. Brand's past deficits in comprehending consent is documented in his 2007 and 2010 books. The animal abuse in his first book, even though he was not an adult, seems especially cruel and oddly clueless. These animals were weaker, smaller and had much less power than even the child version of Russell Brand. The women in Mr Brand's self-admitted promiscuous life, were probably weaker, most likely smaller and definitely had much less power than Mr. Brand. Mr. Brand is/was preparing a third book for publication, was on a publicity tour and recently announced he was 21 years sober. That no doubt got the media more focused on him, not his podcast. I hope that Brand and his lawyers try to settle this out of court. It would be kinder to the victims, and perhaps would even teach the 48 year old adult that is Brand the definition of and behavior relevant to consent.

    • @gargantuangouda605

      It does have something to do with it if he was a promiscuous drug addict because they're painting a picture of the kind of person who would do those horrendous things and you've been caught hook line and sinker. For example, you can't see one cut without thinking it's because he must have admitted to the crimes unintentionally and must have needed to cut it out... That's like the only reason for putting a cut in that exact place. OR maybe it's because he divulged information about the accussers and that's not appropriate. Or maybe it's because he farted after he said it. Or maybe it's because his lawyer wanted him to not say something in particular. But yeah, you're probably right... admitted to his crimes and had to snip it before he posted it. Definitely don't let the actor do a second take of a "scripted video" that's full of cuts that look kinda sketchy. We'll leave up the snipped one.

  • @raystrong6812
    @raystrong6812 9 месяцев назад +2

    "I'm a little bit suspicious that he isn't telling us everything." He does quite literally say that he doesn't want to get into it any further due to the serious nature of the accusations.
    Regarding his potential scripting and the deliberacy of his denials, he is most definitely and blatantly denying the accusations. As a skilled performer and communicator, I'm not prepared to equate deliberacy with insincerity in this case.
    Regarding his hand gestures, I'd be inclined to say that they're pretty consistent with the rest of the videos I've observed. Granted that as a performer he may have trained himself to be more deliberate with his gestures, the extent to which he uses them and the two hands varying between gesturing in and out of sync with each other, could this not be indicative of him being a natural "hand talker?"
    When he said it seems apparent to him and shifted to it feeling as if, that hesitation to me seemed natural in this context. He's often spoken about his own biases and his proclivity to be distrustful of government and media, as though he thought he had a responsibility to be upfront about this as he presents his opinions. The hesitation and the change in phrasing would seem to be consistent with that declared train of thought.
    Now I could be wrong in my take. I'm not a communications expert, and I am definitely biased whereas Brand's messaging appeals to me. I would only say to that, that you have demonstrated some level of bias at least in regard to his comedy routines contrasting with a modern resurgence of questioning what is and isn't acceptable to speak or joke about on stage. He comes across as being neurotic and sincere in my eye. If he's insincere, I would suggest that he's quite potentially sociopathic in order to maintain such a tightly knit and consistent facade. To quote Russell himself, however, "but that's just what I think."
