Alan Wake 1 Review

I had never played Alan Wake (and American Nightmare) before this review and didn't really know what to expect. I remember trying Control when it came out and it didn't click with me, but with all the hubub about Alan Wake 2 I wanted to see what the fuss was about. There is so much hype around this "remedyverse" thing that I thought look if I'm gonna understand Control and AW2, I'd have to first review Alan Wake 1.
Light to medium spoilers all throughout the review. Even if the game made that much sense in the first place, I don't go into enough detail to ruin anything. This goes for the DLC and American Nightmare as well.
The gameplay can be frusterating as hell and it's kinda repetetive but overall I was just so charmed by the character it didn't sour my experience too much. I've since started playing Control and while they've certainly stepped up since this game, I'm ecstatic to see what AW2 has to offer. (ps I really liked Alan Wake 2, but it did have problems - future video)
