Right where the lyrics are printed, the band lineup was posted: Barney on vocals, so-and-so on guitars, and then it read 'Mick Harris - drumming demon, and executor of swinging thumb-jumps and screaming gaia vocals'. If I remember correctly, I think it was on the HARMONY CORRUPTION album. If you listen to it, you can hear a lot of periodic, random screaming in the background. That's Mick, each time, screaming 'gai-aaaaaaaa'!
yeah i know its a scream and all that , i was just wondering if it meant somthing or was it just a punkish primal thing to do ? , hes solid for sure . ND has always been solid , thats why I admire them . I think Utopia Banished kicked ass ! It cut right to the bone . I only hear of ND when Inside the Torn Apart came out in the late 90s. the new drummer brought somthing else to the game just like dave groul did in Nirvana but if yougo back and listen to the roots of nirvana " chad channing " you can hear a far more primal player ! Its so interesting how primitive feel can create the most raw music that no accomplished drummer could ever achieve .
No One I'm afraid the relevance of swinging thumb-jumps and gaia is a question only Mick Harris can answer. I've no idea what it means, except the sounds are insane and delivered with GUSTO! I am not familiar with ND having a different drummer; will check it out. Lemme know a recommended album to start with, please. I saw ND perform at China Garden in Seattle 1996. A great time and a great opportunity to hear Barney speak normally. Surprisingly, his speaking voice sounded like a normal bloke, albeit one who chews glass or drinks Drano on occasion... raspy as hell. :-)
