I really like how Pony STRESSES how the littlest thing makes or breaks the piece. Drives home why a good traditional tattoo isn’t “easy” just because it’s simple.

Hi Pony! I’m a tattoo apprentice, currently practicing traditional tattooing, I have a question that bothers me a lot, which is can we dilute the colour ink for traditional tattoos? My master told me that I can’t dilute the colour inks for traditional tattoos but the colours come out very dark and dull. I think the diluted colours look a lot brighter. So could you please tell if it’s ok to dilute the colour inks for traditional tattoos? Thanks!

As an artist and lover of tattooing, traditional tattooing is the hardest IMHO. Unlike other disciplines, traditional work involves mastery of the fundamentals and your understanding of color.
It may look simple but try drawing a single clean line, tracing, then retracing it until it is done right. Now do that for 4 to 6 plus hours every day.
The first one is dope
Leaves - also when doing leaves with a flower or fruit, unless you're "saying" something specific, make sure the leaves are actually the ones you find on that plant.
I'd like to see you critique more color American Traditional tattoos, based on classic artists like Sailor Jerry ❤.

Well back in the old days when traditional was pretty much the only style, they actually paired all kinds of motives. Just look at old fotos. They had pin ups, ships, swallows, skulls, roses and all kinds of stuff just pieced together even if it didnt work together. Thats kind of what makes traditional for me. All tattoos are individual patches basically. So i guess just get what you like.

I dunno how you think a philtrum that connects up to just the left nostril is "natural looking"..... But, yeah, in actual anatomy the philtrum connects up to both sides of the MIDDLE of your nose, not to one nostril. This tattoo looks like somebody grabbed her face with both hands and twisted in opposite directions!!! Or smashed her nose totally flat!! LMAO!!
