I am about to perform this clean out on my system. I have 8 lateral lines. Not looking forward to it as I have to dig the ends up. I don’t have vertical access pipes in place to reach in and unscrew the end of the pipe. I may put some in place this time for future cleanings.
He said all systems have this but they do not. Each state has their own requirements and this is not a common system.
After discovering the location of six lateral lines (no thanks to the septic company), I attempted to flush. However, there is only an off/on switch for my pumps. The pumps switch is always in the "on" positions. So: Do I turn the pump switch off for a few seconds and then back on? I did this and nothing came out of the pipe. Is this a good sign or did I do something wrong?
Crystal grow lab.. in septic tank ..
Heat whole geothermàl items?
My clean out does not have that
This is for pumped systems and is a common design in our area may not be in your area...Good chance your system is different.
I noticed that there is water in the bottom before the actual flushing is shown. :)
This is for a system with a sand filter I believe.
You are correct!
Not helpful at all
probably not for you because you have a dissimilar system, or you're just an idiot (my guess is the latter)
I don't understand this at all. Why are you flushing it? There a pump in it?
+Tom Renfro over time sludge and slime can build up in the 1" pipe, so this is something that only needs to be done every so often Annually is recommended, but I suspect that most systems survive with out it being done very often!
Hi Curtis, Thanks for answering back. I see what you are saying. It is a bit in general and matter of fact way.. Saying that, I have never heard of a pipe sticking out of the the ground for the purpose to clean out your lateral of your septic tank. How dose this help your laterals. Those are way under ground?
Tom
Tom, if I redid the video today I would do it different for sure. These pipes are at the end of each drain field line in this system a total of 6. By flushing it helps keep the small holes .25" in this case, clear. Still not something that needs done very often. To be clear this only applies to a pressure system, that is designed like this one, which is a common design in our area.
on a pressure system how long does the effluent can run during one cycle? is it possible to have a clogged field and not showing any wetness?
If your pump is running and drawing down the pump chamber I would suspect the pump first. It is always possible that the line is broke or plugged but less likely than a bad pump.
i opened one lateral and the flow was good, the pump was running for like 15-20 min. and the level barely dropped.
The only interesting part was the end, if we go through a drought the grass with our lateral lines ends up dying before the rest of the yard. It is worth doing something else with that area unless you have irrigation.
Thanks for watching kind of a boring subject for sure!
