The number 144,000 occurs only twice in Scripture-both times in the book of Revelation, and in significant contexts. We find it first between the sixth and the seventh seals, prior to the Second Coming envisaged as the day of wrath, which is the demise of those who have opposed God (Rev. 7:4). The second occurrence in Revelation 14 is prior to the message of the three angels and the second coming of Christ. Consequently, it does make sense to suppose that the number designates an end-time entity-God’s people during the last phase of world history.
The issue is this: Are the 144,000 a special subgroup of God’s people, or is this number a symbolic representation of the totality of God’s people? Lurking beneath these questions are the concepts of the accessibility of sealing and salvation after the number 144,000 is reached, and the deeper issue of the arbitrariness of God’s decrees or even the moral nature of His character.

Every church has it's bad members and the SDA church is no exception but that does not make the whole church is bad. The 144,000 are not only mentioned in Revelation 7 and 14, but also in Zephaniah 3 (3:13 to be exact) . Two witnesses, John and the prophet Zephaniah. Jesus had a perfect character and the 144,000 must be a reflection of Christ’s character as seen in first Peter2:22 and Isaiah 53:9 also referenced in Revelation 14:5. They must be a reflection of the character of Christ.

I've had a supernatural experience and it's still going on to this day. I was on a pier in Panama city beach Fl and I noticed a reflection on the water following my shadow on the water. It is written that the 144 thousand will be only those of the last generation who will remain alive until the return of the Lord Jesus, because they being sons of light will put in darkness the sons of darkness who for now are wiser than the sons of light (Luke 16:8).
&So is clearly that Bible study is our only chance to remain alive until the return of the Lord, because only by being more enlightened than the AI robots will we be useful to God in the final armageddon that will end the armageddon started in heaven against the Sanctuary.

It is clear that the AI super-intelligence will use the same phototheology of the Bible but for the purpose of ecumenism trying to twist the verses putting them in that perfect order which AI will see as necessary for the ecumenical union of all religions.
And so is clear that we will not have any chance to overcome against the sons of darkness who will use the AI super-intelligence when we will not be able to see all what will be twisted by AI and to see even the mis-ordering of verses desired by the ecumenical philosopher AI.
Armageddon has divided the heaven into two groups of fighters and therefore armageddon will be ended between two groups of fighters seen in the verses as:
Romans 3:4 By no means! On the contrary, let God be FOUND true and ALL MEN be found LIARS, as it is written: "That you may be FOUND righteous in your words and come out victorious when you are judged. (in Rev 14:7).
Revelation 14:7 He was saying with a loud voice: "Fear God and give Him glory, for the HOUR of His judgment has come, and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the fountains of waters!"
Unfortunately only few Christians can see the two groups of fighters in these two verses because only few study the Sanctuary to understand Hebrews chapter 3 and chapter 4 to be seen as saints in Colos 1:26 receiving God’s MYSTERY called CHRIST(Colos 2:2).
The number 144 thousands will be a literally number of soldiers as God’s sons of light ending successfully the final Armageddon started in heaven against the Sanctuary.
They will be forever living inside the New Jerusalem city and all other saved people will be living on the new earth around the New Jerusalem city.
Just as the 12 disciples of Jesus was chosen having the character of the 12 tribal of Israel in the same way we will be sealed in Rev 7:1-8 having the character of the 12 tribes of Israel and the character of the 12 disciples of Jesus so that in Rev 14:1 all together we will have the character of our God the Father revealed inside the Sanctuary being fulfilled by our Model Jesus as Christ being the Sanctuary given so that we will be sanctuaries in 1Cor 6:19 1Cor 3:16 for our final test in 2Thes 2:3,4 Rev 13:15 Rev 12:17 being identified in Rev 14:12 Colos 1:26 receiving God’s MYSTERY which is CHRIST(Colos 2:2).

When we are truly a child of God, we won't tear down a brother or sister who believes diffrent than you do, or use cruel labels as many do, this only tells the world that you are not right with God yet yourself !!!

The numbers in revelation are literal: literal 7 last plagues, literal 3 angles messages, literal 1000 years in heaven, literal 144000. The reason people don't want to believe that it's literal is because they are fearful that with such a small number they won't be in that number... Fact is, it's literal.

@ DocBMT - I don't think one can "strive " to be in this group. God has chosen them, not man. They are the first fruits who are and will be trained up in His Torah and commandments and Feast days and Sabbath. They are being taught in the wilderness and they will be teachers to the masses at the time that God has set aside. A day is coming when many Christians (and even Jews) will fall to their knees realizing the error of false doctrine taught in the churches (and synagogues). When that happens, there will be the beginning of restoration of all things.

Those who died in faith of the 3 angel message keeping the Sabbath, will have part in the special resurrection, but they will not pass through the time of trouble. They are resurrected during the 7th plague, the great earthquake.

There is no need to allegorise the 144,000 (who are only described in chapters 7 and 14 of Revelation). They are simply going to be the first humans to be resurrected in their glorified bodies (first fruits after Jesus Christ) who has just opened the 1st six seals and is about to begin His glorious return to usher in the Day of the Lord and direct God's wrath with the angelic host "hagios" of heaven (NOT the risen saints). The 144,000 are redeemed from the earth and then sealed (Rev. ch14), and only then will the rest of the righteous dead be raised imperishable, followed by the remaining living saints, all recipients of glorified bodies, as described in I Thessalonians, ch 4, v15 and I Corinthians, ch 15, v51-53.
From the detailed descriptions regarding the 144,000 supplied in Rev. ch7 and ch14 , these criteria could only be satisfied by the innocent Jewish baby boys under 2 years old who were slaughtered in Exodus, ch 1 and also those in Mathew, ch 2. Those massacres involved male babies from all of the tribes cited in Revelation, ch 7.
Also, please note that there is just no scripture to even suggest that these 144,000 who become sealed ever witness to those who remain on the earth. That assignment is currently ours as followers of Jesus Christ, and is ultimately accomplished over a period of 1260 days (or 3.5 Hebraic years) by the two witnesses described in Rev. ch11, and also by the messages of the three angels in Rev. ch14, which will precede the wrath of the Lamb (Rev. ch 6, v16-17).

Could it be that the 144,000 are the children of Israel who where cut off when Christ was born Math 2:13-17? Isaiah 53:1-8 Who shall declare His generation? Jeremiah31:15-16 Thy children shall come again from the land of their enemy .... thy children shall come again to their own border. They share the same traits as Christ(First Fruits) Rev.4-5, Isaiah53:8-9. In Ezekiel 37:1-14 is a great army brought back to life in their own land and share the four winds in Rev. 7:1. Cut off as children, redeemed from men, then brought back in their own land as an army and appear at the last half of Jacobs Trouble just like the Two Witnesses. Then are translated to Christ at Mt. Sion Rev.14 singing a song no one else can sing, could that be them? Makes since to me.

The Modern Day Gift of Tongues is Not Biblical.
Acts 2:1-6 (Day of the Pentecost)
The apostles who after being inspired and blessed by the Holy Spirit were speaking in foreign language. Those foreigners in the audience were amaze that those Galilee men were speaking not in their own tongue but in all different languages of each of those foreigners in the audience.

Both verses identifies that tongues simply means diversity of languages.
The Word of God belongs to every men in this world. The Gospel had to be preached to all the ends of the earth before the The Son of God returns.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,” “baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matthew 28:19, 20, R. V.
The early church had to preach and teach the Word of God to all men whether Jews or Gentiles. Therefore they had to have good communication in any language barrier they face. Wherever the foreign lands they visited and preached God’s Words, they spoke in its native tongues and if need arises an interpretor from within would then made it clear to the foreign audience otherwise the Holy Spirit were with the apostles and they were fluent.
The presence of The Holy Spirit in the apostles made them to do miracles and wonders. “In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17, 18.
“The apostles and their associates were unlettered men, yet through the outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost, their speech, whether in their own or a foreign language, became pure, simple, and accurate, both in word and in accent.” (DA EGW)
Speaking in Tongues is Not for Everyone.
In 1 Corinthians 2:28 notice that it states “some” and not all in the church who will receive the gift of speaking in tongue. Teaching people that it is confirmation of receiving The Holy Spirit and actual conversion is actually a very dangerous heresy. Which may lead people to think they have received the supposed gift of The Holy Spirit however it only makes them vulnerable to false security and false salvation.
Today True Pastors of God, in developing (remote/urban) countries speak in their native tongues, common tongues and in English tongues or language. This is the gift of tongue and not mumbling bubbling confusion as such thought by brother Joe.
Moreover the gift of tongue is Not a test for salvation or having The Holy Spirit. Charismatic speaking in tongue is rejected by language experts and has pagan origin. Also it shows sign of demonic possession and note that satan can counterfeit miracles of God (Exo 7:8-11). It is an abomination of the highest level because it is done in the name of Jesus.
Paul himself identifies these false preachers; “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:13-14
Most importantly it is a last day deception technique from dark forces and not of the Holy Spirit of God. Specifically it is a characteristic of the end time Babylon. Babylon comes from the word Babel which means confusion, as supported in Genesis 11:9. Thus whichever people or church that practices such abominable practice are drinking from the cup of Babylon (Revelation 17:4).
( Revelation 16:13 warned us about tongue deception.) “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.”
The above Bible text illustrates the frogs using tongue to catch their prey through such deceptive trap.

Steven Dragoo You have failed to study your Bible well. They are physical beings, as well as spiritual. We were too, prior to Adam’s fall. Use a concordance to find the verses. I cannot provide them to you now because I am on my iPad. You could call Pastor Bohr at Secrets Unsealed (see website) and ask him or his staff for the verses. He is a retired pastor now, and runs a teaching ministry. They will probably give you his email address so you can ask him the question directly. Everything God creates is physical, angels, sinless beings, humans, planets, stars, galaxies etc. Ever since sin entered humanity, God has placed blindness to us from seeing angels, fallen angels and other un-fallen beings as God knows best. Who are we to judge someone and call anyone a false prophet. The problem we have is that we don't read or understand scripture. Revelation is a symbolic book. There is a lot of Symbolic language in the book. Only the holy spirit can reveal the mysteries of the book.

Now getting back to the 144000 as being those who are alive at the second coming… I am convinced that this has not been studied sufficiently nor with an eye single to what the Bible actually teaches in view of the overwhelming evidence to this being the “living” not “alive” necessarily, but rather those who have entered into Christ and have thus crossed over from eternal death to eternal life, (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Daniel, SMA, Job, Abel, David, Paul, the apostles, the martyrs, etc… never to experience the second death for He is the God of the living since quite clearly one can be alive yet spiritually dead not so?

Zechariah 4 proves that ONLY through God's chosen men, His prophets, will be given the inspiration through the Holy Spirit of Truth for interpretation of scriptures. Did you know that the current interpretation of Revelation has only been around for 200 years? What was the interpretation before 200 years ago? If we look closely at Revelation 20 i.e. the “millennium” chapter we clearly see two Resurrections. Here is some of chapter

You see Hades had two compartments which the rich man and Lazarus shows in Luke 16. Jesus went to set the Old Testament captives free as Ephesians 4 says. No one knows if they are going to be one of the 144,000, that is presumptuous to say that, some people will be laid to sleep. The 144,000 will have the character of Jesus. Some people will accept the Mark of the beast.

Pastor Bohr's very excellent exegesis of the 144,000 in Revelation 7 &14 was extremely informative and right on target, that is, until his attempts to identify them as Christian believers in a book that concerns God dealing with His people Israel in this last book of the Bible: "the Jewish apocalypse" that has nothing to do with the Gentile Church.
