If it weren't for all the church confusion, in this Last & Wickedest Generation it would be fairly easy for a Bible Studier to understand precisely who the 144,000 "WERE". *Revelation 7:4 says, "And I heard the number of them which WERE sealed: and there WERE sealed a hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel." The word: "WERE" is key here. John the Revelator is clearly looking back on the Number of First Fruits that Christ resurrected at His First Coming. *Matthew 27:52-53, "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many". The 144,000 consisted of Tribal Israelites. And since Tribal Israel no longer exists then no one should even be looking for an End Time 144,000 anyway. Further, Revelation 7:9-16 speaks of the next resurrection to take place, later on, "AFTER" (vs 9) the Resurrection of the 144,000. It is the End Time Harvest of the Great Multitude that will be resurrected at the Time of Christ's Second Coming. No were, in these verses (9-16), does John the Revelator use the word: "WERE" ...as he did when speaking about the 144,000. But, unlike the 144,000, John could not document the number/count of the Great Multitude because they consist of a resurrection that had not taken place yet. Thus, no man could number/count them, yet, as they could the 144,000 ...whom "WERE" already sealed & resurrected before John's Patmos Experience (around A.D.90).

It's funny how each time an SDA preacher is about to teach on the 144,000 they start out by giving all sorts of symbols and what they mean and those symbols are most times miles apart from the subject at hand. A natural reading of Rev 7 & 14 shows the identity and characteristics of the 144,000, a number by definition is detailed. In Rev.7:4 John said, "I heard the NUMBER of them that were sealed..." and the number is listed and not only that but how the math is worked out, verse 5-8 clearly and distinctly states that. Rev.14:3-5 tells us that the 144,000 are virgin males. Look at this big distinction now, Rev.7:9 -14 shows that after the 144,000 there were gentiles who could not be numbered, hm...so there is a specific number of people and a multitude that could not be numbered. GOD knows what he is doing, the 144,000 are Evangelists who will preach the gospel that will harvest the great multitude. Israel is never used as a synonym for the church in the new testament, Ephesians 3 and Galatians 3 speaks of the unification of Jew, gentile, slave, free, rich, poor which is correct but in end time prophecy there's a clear distinction between Israel and gentiles, the church will be raptured and GOD will now deal with Israel with whom He made a covenant. Remember the Jews rejected their Messiah so GOD still remembers His covenant with Israel and in the Great Tribulation there will be the purification of Israel as also the pouring out of judgement on all unbelievers. When it comes to the mark of the beast, in the original Greek text the word for, "mark" is a literal mark, but SDA says it is symbolic to the worshipping on the Sabbath. Just as the 12 disciples of Jesus was chosen having the character of the 12 tribal of Israel in the same way we will be sealed in Rev 7:1-8 having the character of the 12 tribes of Israel and the character of the 12 disciples of Jesus so that in Rev 14:1 all together we will have the character of our God the Father revealed inside the Sanctuary being fulfilled by our Model Jesus as Christ being the Sanctuary given so that we will be sanctuaries in 1Cor 6:19 1Cor 3:16 for our final test in 2Thes 2:3,4 Rev 13:15 Rev 12:17 being identified in Rev 14:12 Colos 1:26 receiving God’s MYSTERY which is CHRIST(Colos 2:2).

If it weren't for all the church confusion, in this Last & Wickedest Generation it would be fairly easy for a Bible Studier to understand precisely who the 144,000 "WERE".

The word: "WERE" is key here. John the Revelator is clearly looking back on the Number of First Fruits that Christ resurrected at His First Coming.
*Matthew 27:52-53, "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared
unto many".
The 144,000 consisted of Tribal Israelites. And since Tribal Israel no longer exists then no one should even be looking for an End Time 144,000 anyway. Further, Revelation 7:9-16 speaks of the next resurrection to take place, later on, "AFTER" (vs 9) the Resurrection of the 144,000. It is the End Time Harvest of the Great Multitude that will be resurrected at the Time of Christ's Second Coming. No were, in these verses (9-16), does John the Revelator use the word: "WERE" ...as he did when speaking about the 144,000. But, unlike the 144,000, John could not document the number/count of the Great Multitude because they consist of a resurrection that had not taken place yet. Thus, no man could number/count them, yet, as they could the 144,000 ...whom "WERE" already sealed & resurrected before John's Patmos Experience (around A.D.90).

It's funny how each time an SDA preacher is about to teach on the 144,000 they start out by giving all sorts of symbols and what they mean and those symbols are most times miles apart from the subject at hand. A natural reading of Rev 7 & 14 shows the identity and characteristics of the 144,000, a number by definition is detailed. In Rev.7:4 John said, "I heard the NUMBER of them that were sealed..." and the number is listed and not only that but how the math is worked out, verse 5-8 clearly and distinctly states that. SDA says the twelve tribes no longer exists, which SDA believer can prove that? I dare anyone. Is it that GOD doesn't know what He's talking about? Rev.14:3-5 tells us that the 144,000 are virgin males. Look at this big distinction now, Rev.7:9 -14 shows that after the 144,000 there were gentiles who could not be numbered, hm...so there is a specific number of people and a multitude that could not be numbered. GOD knows what he is doing, the 144,000 are Evangelists who will preach the gospel that will harvest the great multitude. Israel is never used as a synonym for the church in the new testament, Ephesians 3 and Galatians 3 speaks of the unification of Jew, gentile, slave, free, rich, poor which is correct but in end time prophecy there's a clear distinction between Israel and gentiles, the church will be raptured and GOD will now deal with Israel with whom He made a covenant. Remember the Jews rejected their Messiah so GOD still remembers His covenant with Israel and in the Great Tribulation there will be the purification of Israel as also the pouring out of judgement on all unbelievers.
When it comes to the mark of the beast, in the original Greek text the word for, "mark" is a literal mark, but SDA says it is symbolic to the worshipping on the Sabbath. In my country the SDA mounted a bill board at a very conspicuous location and on the billboard is says that enacted Sunday worship will be the mark of the beast.

The 144,000 are virgins who knew no women according to Rev 14:4 which shows that they are men . Rev 7:3-8 tells us that the 144,000 are from the twelve tribes of the children of Israel. What is so sad is that the founders/ successors (Charles Russle, Judge Rutherford...) of JW have mislead a group of people in to believing their personal doctrinal biases and flawed interpretation of scripture.
