Note: This information should have been in Season 1 by the way. === The *Tengu* are a group of individuals residing in the Kusha Mountains that border the Jura Forest, the Harpy Queendom of Fulbrosia and the Sorcerous Dynasty of Thalion. Although they compose a relatively small population residing in the mountain range, they are worshipped as gods of the mountains. Given that they inhabit the intricate mountain range outside of the Forest of Jura not even the Sky Queen Frey or Emperor Elmesia would dare to disturb them. They established their village before on an inaccessible mountain summit. Although it was once believed that there could be no one capable of inhabiting that place, it seems that those of high ranking races aren't bothered so much by such environments. The Tengu are a group born from the power of a single individual, much like tempest wolves. They were created when Kaede, an Angel, incarnated in the body of an Okami. They resemble normal Beastfolk but have the notably angelic feature of a set of pure white wings. Rank: Special A - S === *Angels* are a race of naturally occurring spiritual lifeforms similar to elemental spirits and daemons. They are known to wage war on the Central Axis World for a singular week every 500 years in an event known as the Great Tenma War. === Kaede was originally an Angel that fell to the Central World and came to incarnate within the corpse of an Okami, becoming the progenitor of a brand new race called the Tengu. Sometime after obtaining a physical body, Kaede roamed the land and eventually encountered Byakuya Araki in the village of the Ogres, becoming his apprentice and learning the ways of the sword alongside his unnamed grandson who was younger than her. Byakuya grew old and passed away over the years, leaving his grandson who became a master of the sword that grew to surpass Kaede in technique. Smitten with him, Kaede confessed her feelings, and the two consummated their love over a night together. She left the village afterwards, unbeknownst to the ogre that she would carry his child. Kaede gave birth to the ogre's child after 300 years and named her Momiji, draining most of her remaining power in the process and leaving her weakened. Unable to continue in her duties as chief, Kaede passed on the role to her daughter who was the most powerful and capable of her children. === Moe (yes that’s her name) Kaname did a really good job on Momiji for such a new VA. === Note: The reason Kaede is surprised that Hakurou is alive is because Ogres normally only live as long as Humans but Hakurou lived three-four times that. This is why when Hakurou became a Kijin (who can live a thousand years) he was still an old man rather than be fully restored to his prime. === If Frey tried to conquer Thalion then Elmesia would slaughter her. I'm not sure even current Light Novel Frey would stand a chance against Elmesia. === I actually really love the very relatable guy talk in this episode from all the single men. === It actually makes sense for Momiji and Albis to fight over a man since both their species are types of Beastfolk. It even makes sense for them to practice polygamy since that is common in the animal kingdom. === We can also potentially add Hinata, Raphael (who you could say is literally his soulmate), the Spiritual Lifeform that inhabited Chloe and kissed Rimuru and even Chloe herself (once she's older since she has a crush on him) to Rimuru's potential harem. Shizue would also be a contender if she wasn't dead (RIP). Personally I like Rimuru/Hinata the most after Rimuru/Shizue. === I can’t wait for next week’s episode. Incarnated .. not rencarnated ... incarnate ie : to give bodily form and substance to smth ... angels are spiritual beings, like demons they dont have material bodies naturally ... they either need to create their own (this is inefficient and severly time limited as theyr mana continues to leak out) or have to fashion one from existing matter ... Like diablo was able to properly manifest thanks to the corpses of the fallen soldiers ... depending of how much is used and the powers of the demon it is often time limited
One thing I found interesting is that the word for this wolf species, "okami", *sounds* the same as the one for the "wise wolf" Holo from Spice and Wolf. (I can´t tell if the kanji are the same, so it might have a different meaning.)

In this aspect they were considered akin to angels in Christianity ... so a fitting vessel ...
ranga doesn't spawn them tf are you on about? they were a pack before rimuru killed ranga's father and they came under him and ranga later evolved. im pretty sure the point being made here is that rather than calling the tengu a "race", they are a group of unique individuals like ranga is unique from other wolves.
@@Vary180 yes, the original pack already existed and after Ranga's father died he became the leader, but that is how they work as a species, they can have offspring, but as a race they only exist and evolve because the original progenitor came into being, Ranga now being the leader is the reason all the wolves evolved, because he evolved, same for the tengu, the only angel that incarnated in a wolf was Kaede, and because she exists more Tengu came into being without needing more angels to incarnate from more wolves, simply because she exists and her power, the rest of them came into being, that's what makes both the Tengu and the Tempest Wolves "unique"

Here's some info skipped in this episode: - Byakuya Araki was from feudal Japan, and he arrived in the Ogre village 400 years before the beginning of the series. - Byakuya Araki is a Stray Otherworlder like Hinata, but unlike her whose aging stopped as part of the powers she got upon being isekai-ed, Byakuya Araki's body itself didn't get such a buff, but he did still live to be more than 100 years old, as he died around 300 years before the start of the series. - Byakuya Araki didn't simply marry an ogre woman. He saved the ogre village from a rampaging dragon, killing said dragon. He then started living with the ogres and shared his culture with them. THIS is why the Ogres have a Japanese style culture by the time Rimuru met them. (as for why the Tengu have it as well, it is never concretely explained, but I assume that Kaede, as their leader, is the one responsible for their culture being like that now.) - Byakuya Araki married an Ogre woman and had a half-human half-Ogre daughter, who in turn married another Ogre and had a quarter human 3 quarters Ogre son (Hakuro). (this bit is just clarification for the parents of Hakuro) - Ogres in this world have a lifespan about equal to that of humans. They don't normally live more than 100 years. And yet, Hakuro, as a quarter human 3 quarters Ogre, was more than 300 years old when he met Rimuru. Then, when he got named and became a Kijin, his lifespan extended and got physically younger yet was still very old even for a Kijin. It is not fully understood by the people in the series how he managed to live that long beyond the end of his natural lifespan. - Chronology-wise: 1- Kaede started training under Byakuya before his death, then stayed with Hakuro for a bit after Byakuya's death before leaving (while not aware yet that she was pregnant; once she became aware of it and chose to delay the birth of her child, she didn't expect Hakuro to live long enough to ever meet their child nor for them to be together long term). 2- Then, still around 300 years ago, but after Kaede left, a young Gazelle Dwargon met Hakuro and became his disciple. (about Kaede's age, she is currently a bit over 500 years old (she was a bit over 200 years old when she met Hakuro and Byakuya Araki)
Angels in general have none to little sense of self or ego. It was kinda glossed over a bit, but like spirits and demons, angels are just another type spiritual lifeform. Spiritual beings cannot stay long on the physical plane without a physical body to inhabit, so when they say that an angel incarnated, it means an angel implanted itself inside of a wolf, gaining a vessel and in the process becoming one being (Tengu). This is akin to the kids with their spirits, or Berretta and his doll body, which changed the greater demon into some type of metalloid "species". On a side note technically Alvis has the more important post as she is a top official of an allied nation, whereas the Tengu are a species that live in Rimuru's territory and fall under his rule as a demon lord. They were just being nice by giving the inhabitants of the forest any say in the matter. I understand that Momiji is a princess of sorts, but both Gabiru and his sister are in the same position. Could have just sent an ultimatum to bend the knee.
I have a thought about that line about Ranga and the angel incarnation. What it meant was that the angel chose the body of a very powerful wolf monster. It didn't incarnate into a ordinary grey wolf or something like that.

As I understand, Ranga just Ranga and nobody is an angel incarnate. Tengu and Direwolves each had their own powerful individual, possibly both angels, as their progenitor. I can be wrong but what i know from the lore is that alot of demi human races in the world came to be because spirital being were shoved into the bodies of different creatures. Diablo is a part of Rimuru's harem because he's too much of a glazer. I'm questioning Hakuro as a parent since he's ok with not only a grown man, but a groen man that he's close with possibly getting with his 15 years old daughter. Also you'd think that they wouldn't have a stigma about dating monsters that don't look human considering the fact that they're monsters too.

Beni is at most 20. He’s far too immature and unsure of himself to be a grown man, especially when ogres only have a lifespan 100 years, which makes his mental development in line with a human’s. Besides, Hakurou raised that boy. Who else is he going to trust with his daughter? Some rando she finds in the forest?
I don't care care what excuses y'all trying to give for Hakuro, it's still weird af and inexcusable in my eyes. They established their village before on an inaccessible mountain summit. Although it was once believed that there could be no one capable of inhabiting that place, it seems that those of high ranking races aren't bothered so much by such environments.
The Tengu are a group born from the power of a single individual, much like tempest wolves. They were created when Kaede, an Angel, incarnated in the body of an Okami. They resemble normal Beastfolk but have the notably angelic feature of a set of pure white wings.

Kaede was originally an Angel that fell to the Central World and came to incarnate within the corpse of an Okami, becoming the progenitor of a brand new race called the Tengu.
Sometime after obtaining a physical body, Kaede roamed the land and eventually encountered Byakuya Araki in the village of the Ogres, becoming his apprentice and learning the ways of the sword alongside his unnamed grandson who was younger than her. Byakuya grew old and passed away over the years, leaving his grandson who became a master of the sword that grew to surpass Kaede in technique. Smitten with him, Kaede confessed her feelings, and the two consummated their love over a night together. She left the village afterwards, unbeknownst to the ogre that she would carry his child.
Kaede gave birth to the ogre's child after 300 years and named her Momiji, draining most of her remaining power in the process and leaving her weakened. Unable to continue in her duties as chief, Kaede passed on the role to her daughter who was the most powerful and capable of her children.

Note: The reason Kaede is surprised that Hakurou is alive is because Ogres normally only live as long as Humans but Hakurou lived three-four times that. This is why when Hakurou became a Kijin (who can live a thousand years) he was still an old man rather than be fully restored to his prime.

We can also potentially add Hinata, Raphael (who you could say is literally his soulmate), the Spiritual Lifeform that inhabited Chloe and kissed Rimuru and even Chloe herself (once she's older since she has a crush on him) to Rimuru's potential harem. Shizue would also be a contender if she wasn't dead (RIP).
Personally I like Rimuru/Hinata the most after Rimuru/Shizue.

About how the Tengu work as a species, Kaede was formerly an Angel, which reincarnated from a fallen wolf (probably perished in battle), and much like the Star Wolf (Ranga) it's the progenitor of their race, which means, they spawn more of their own, Kaede spawned all the Tengu's the same way Ranga spawns all the shadow wolves. A bit convoluted but yeah

Like diablo was able to properly manifest thanks to the corpses of the fallen soldiers ... depending of how much is used and the powers of the demon it is often time limited
One thing I found interesting is that the word for this wolf species, "okami", *sounds* the same as the one for the "wise wolf" Holo from Spice and Wolf.

@@Vary180 yes, the original pack already existed and after Ranga's father died he became the leader, but that is how they work as a species, they can have offspring, but as a race they only exist and evolve because the original progenitor came into being, Ranga now being the leader is the reason all the wolves evolved, because he evolved, same for the tengu, the only angel that incarnated in a wolf was Kaede, and because she exists more Tengu came into being without needing more angels to incarnate from more wolves, simply because she exists and her power, the rest of them came into being, that's what makes both the Tengu and the Tempest Wolves "unique"

Here's some info skipped in this episode:
- Byakuya Araki was from feudal Japan, and he arrived in the Ogre village 400 years before the beginning of the series.
- Byakuya Araki is a Stray Otherworlder like Hinata, but unlike her whose aging stopped as part of the powers she got upon being isekai-ed, Byakuya Araki's body itself didn't get such a buff, but he did still live to be more than 100 years old, as he died around 300 years before the start of the series.
- Byakuya Araki didn't simply marry an ogre woman. He saved the ogre village from a rampaging dragon, killing said dragon. He then started living with the ogres and shared his culture with them. THIS is why the Ogres have a Japanese style culture by the time Rimuru met them.
(as for why the Tengu have it as well, it is never concretely explained, but I assume that Kaede, as their leader, is the one responsible for their culture being like that now.)
- Byakuya Araki married an Ogre woman and had a half-human half-Ogre daughter, who in turn married another Ogre and had a quarter human 3 quarters Ogre son (Hakuro). (this bit is just clarification for the parents of Hakuro)
- Ogres in this world have a lifespan about equal to that of humans. They don't normally live more than 100 years. And yet, Hakuro, as a quarter human 3 quarters Ogre, was more than 300 years old when he met Rimuru.
Then, when he got named and became a Kijin, his lifespan extended and got physically younger yet was still very old even for a Kijin. It is not fully understood by the people in the series how he managed to live that long beyond the end of his natural lifespan.
- Chronology-wise:
1- Kaede started training under Byakuya before his death, then stayed with Hakuro for a bit after Byakuya's death before leaving (while not aware yet that she was pregnant; once she became aware of it and chose to delay the birth of her child, she didn't expect Hakuro to live long enough to ever meet their child nor for them to be together long term).
2- Then, still around 300 years ago, but after Kaede left, a young Gazelle Dwargon met Hakuro and became his disciple.
(about Kaede's age, she is currently a bit over 500 years old (she was a bit over 200 years old when she met Hakuro and Byakuya Araki)

Angels in general have none to little sense of self or ego. It was kinda glossed over a bit, but like spirits and demons, angels are just another type spiritual lifeform. Spiritual beings cannot stay long on the physical plane without a physical body to inhabit, so when they say that an angel incarnated, it means an angel implanted itself inside of a wolf, gaining a vessel and in the process becoming one being (Tengu). This is akin to the kids with their spirits, or Berretta and his doll body, which changed the greater demon into some type of metalloid "species".
On a side note technically Alvis has the more important post as she is a top official of an allied nation, whereas the Tengu are a species that live in Rimuru's territory and fall under his rule as a demon lord. They were just being nice by giving the inhabitants of the forest any say in the matter. I understand that Momiji is a princess of sorts, but both Gabiru and his sister are in the same position. Could have just sent an ultimatum to bend the knee.
I have a thought about that line about Ranga and the angel incarnation. What it meant was that the angel chose the body of a very powerful wolf monster. It didn't incarnate into a ordinary grey wolf or something like that.

Diablo is a part of Rimuru's harem because he's too much of a glazer. I'm questioning Hakuro as a parent since he's ok with not only a grown man, but a groen man that he's close with possibly getting with his 15 years old daughter.
