Honestly that inside mesh pocket is the biggest selling point of this jacket that sets it apart from vast majority out there. I don't know how more companies don't have an interior pocket like this, it's a NO BRAINER for example if you you wanna listen to music on your phone w corded headphones and keep everything dry on the inside while it's raining.
Thinking of getting one of these for my daughter. Seems to have all the same features as my Patagonia Torrentshell 3L for a way better price with no drop off in quality, wow! Plus, I love REI too. Thanks for the vid!
I think for the price it's totally worth it! I'm super impressed at how water resistant this jacket is. And having the pit zips is a game changer. I looked at the Patagonia one but the price was just tough for me. I got one for my wife but in the "long" version.

Whoa 🌧️ Tons of features for a good price. That’s value 💪 Edited: REI please come overseas
This is a fine review and thank you, but you left out one hugely important aspect: breathability. Are you drenched with perspiration after the jacket has been worn or not?
I picked this jacket up and I gotta say that it may be okay for coolish weather but anything above 60 degrees and your arms will be sweat soaked. The pit zips worked great for your torso, but there is no airflow in the sleeves. Moreover, the material when damp, feels like plastic wrap on the skin.
Thanks for sharing that with me. I've only used it in cold(ish) weather. We don't get much rain in So Cal in the summer so no need here. I really like the pit zips for my climate. Appreciate hearing your experience with the jacket
I bought this jacket at the end of last summer. I really like it. I had no idea that you could pack it down in the inside pocket. Great review! Curious how you feel it would be in a heavy rain? Do you think it would wet out easily in a heavy rain? I purchased it to use in a lighter rain and it has been great so far in light rain.
I was pretty stoked on how it packs down too! I wore it all winter and had it some pretty bad rain to see what would happen. Never once did I get wet. The jacket got a little heavy after one storm but did great continuing to shed rain. Hope that helps!
You mentioned you wouldn’t take this backpacking. I was thinking of buying this for a weekend trip to WV. Do you have any recommendations for backpacking? Ideally one similar to this in features and price? The ability to pack it into itself seems ideal for me.
The more I've worn this jacket, I would take back that statement. I wore it all winter and it was amazing! I think I said that mostly because when I backpack it's in the Sierra and I don't normally hit rain. I think in WV it would be perfect! I just checked and it's $99 at REI right now-- alnk.to/faBbBkY. If you're looking for something lighter you could check out the OV Tushar Rain Jacket-- alnk.to/1XWm2aH. Hope that is helpful! Let me know if I can help.

I've been wearing the jacket all winter and love it! It's totally worth every penny.

So many features and such a great deal!

Great question! Sorry I missed that. The jacket is extremely breathable. I’ve been wearing it for months now and am not drenched

Do you think this would work as an outer shell in the winter over a down mid layer?
I do! I think this would be a great use for it! I'm super impressed at how dry it kept me.
how’s the sizing ??
I think it’s true to sizing. I’m a medium and this medium fits perfectly!
