I’ve always disliked mids because they are just aesthetically off. They also have the unnecessary Jumpman branding that makes it look goofy. The shape and panels don’t really look right, the swoosh is damn near touching the midsole. The quality on them is also typically horrible, would rather cop a pair of AF1s than a pair or AJ1 Mids. Hype beast just followed the wave without knowing the reason behind it, but AJ1 Mids and AJ1s from 2003-2010 have always been talked about negatively when compared to the original High look.

Mids were not even a thing so they had to make them that way, and that is why they had 9 holes instead of the standard 8 that kids have today. Mids fit most people better and probably looks better. I wish the mids had the same Leather quality as the highs. I’m not putting value in a shoe that Mike didn’t ever wear just because Hype says that’s what I should buy

In the summer i walk (no running) alot on european cobblestones, uneven lanes and concrete surfaces (Prague). I have underpronation (not over) and flat feet (unusual combination). So i think the shoes need to have adequate foot support with a max cushioned insoles and durable outsoles with probably some ridges and grooves for excellent grip (protection against uneven cobblestones). Im getting very mixed messages on what shoes to get. From Bondi L or 7 & NB 1080 to Stinson atr 6, Gaviota 3, Terrex free hiker and even Salomon X ULTRA 4. Please help me!! Which shoe do you suggest!!
The "OG" Jordan 1s was a MID!!!!!! Do research, it was a pe that was made for Jordan. You can argue that it really isn't considered a "mid" nowadays as far as the height....but the fact of the matter is that his game playing shoes were a Nike PE, mid top Chicago

I’m Not into all the crazy color ways on either but a traditional black toe mid is actually solid and fits the ankle better IMO. "Not game worn" isnt necessarily true. Over the course of the season, Nike had to make a lot of different shoes for Michael. All of them was not highs. Michael played in some mids. Go back and research some of those old pictures

I love mids. I have several colorways of jordan 1 highs and mids. I like the fact that you can rock a pair of mids and not worry about a scuff or whatnot. They feel nearly the same on foot. Scuff up a 500 dollar pair or j1 highs or scuff up a 120 dollar mids...

My first pair of Jordan 1s were the Chicago Mid Patent Leathers. I waited in line at the now closed down Nike Town in Honolulu back in November 2003 when I used to live right down the street from there... I had no idea that they were mids either and I was super stoked that the Jordan 1 was finally getting some love at that time. Thankfully, I was able to cop a pair that day, and they are still holding up after over 17 years! Crazy to see how the Jordan 1 is now one of the Main Eventers in the Jordan Brand.
and here I am wearing my Air Jordan 1 Ultra High BREDs (At the time was around $100). These were slept on for sure. Now they going for $195 and I can't find them locally at all. These are the only breds I can afford at the time

You missed one little detail to differentiate between high and low. If you look from the side, you’ll see that highs have 9 holes for the lacing and the lows have only 8 in consequence of the lower height logically. But as you said, they’re almost the same shoe and I think they look great .
it’s crazy to think “sneakerheads” these days will give more appreciation to really good fakes/UA sneakers than to real sneakers that happen to be mids that pay homage to OG pairs. let that sink in
I didn’t even know there was a difference when I started getting into AJ1’s nearly 20 years ago and for a while, a solid colorway on an AJ1 was all that mattered; and to an extent still today. Hype is stupid.
I seriously started collecting this past year and I got a pair of the Chicago mids and they're great looking. I use them to workout for leg day since they have decent ankle support. I have 2 pairs of highs now and just keep going back to wearing my mids. All in all the hate comes from people who are childish and thinks having a certain pair of shoes makes them somehow better than someone that doesn't have a pair. Its all material stuff at the end of the day. The way you treat someone will go way further than what you physically have. Who knows from one day to the next it could all be gone and all you're left with is a sorry attitude if you're negative about dumb stuff like hating someone that wears mids. It just makes us all look foolish because we're keeping Nike and Jordan and all other companies rich and putting more money into resellers pockets making it that much harder to cop the next pair of sneakers.

To be honest, I wear both. As if today April 2nd. I miss out on Georgetown high, I bought the Jordan mid armory navy color way for the look I am looking for. I can careless if the next person judge me. I still rock my canvas low shoes too.
I personally mostly buy mids. I just like the smaller proportions and how they look more streamlined compared to the highs. To me, the heal cup on the highs are ridiculously tall if you really look at them objectively. The mids are also more comfortable to wear imo.
If you are the type of person that cared about a AJ1 mid looking like a high an you dont mind doing a diy you can remove the jumpman stitching on heel an use leather putty to fill in holes an then repaint it. Then you can either buy tongue tags or remove from another shoe and sew them on. They might not be the right height but they wont look as bad..
My first AJ1 was the 2003 Patent Leather Chicago Mid. I see it like this hypebeast can't rock mids bc of pressure of their particular peers. A Sneakerhead can wear whatever shoe and change the culture and get comps from people who don't care about hype. Who has the most power people ???
Imo it's just that weird in between size that looks out of place. If it works for someone else that's cool tho. People shouldn't be knocked for wearing something that works for them.
I prefer the mids over the highs for a few reasons: • I prefer the mid cut, makes them less bulky • the shape is more consistent on the mids • soft/not so soft leather, don’t matter. I’m wearing the hell out of them • there are mids out there with decent leather (SE version) • why pay for Highs when they’re basically the same as mids? • hooping & working out, mids are a bit more optimal
same here, my first pair of jordan 1 was a pair of retro nouveau black that i picked up in hong kong on sale, i saw them and i liked them and they felt comfy so i bought them - only years later i realized they were mids... well guess what i like mids and i will get more pairs because the height is perfect for my feet and ankle and because they are easy to cop . wear what you want
I like the mids but sometimes it pisses me off one they’ll make a high with a cool color way and then change one thing on the mid which makes it look cheaper. Like when they take the original Chicago color way and make the toe black or something. The black and gym red color way on the mids is better than on the high though, the high has too much black

The mid quality leather really makes the shoe uncomfortable to me. I get that the leather isn't the greatest in the highs, but least it's soft enough to bend and mold
I couldn't get Air Jordan's back in 1985 in my size as a kid we could only get "Sky Jordan's" same colorways but said SKY instead of AIR...man did we catch heat for that. We got teased and ridiculed for not being old enough. When the new ones came out you better believe we got the smallest size in Men's Air Jordan's. Honestly the mids have gotten better the past few years. Removing the jumpman from the heel was so key and making so many Chicago based colorways was the real key 🔑 Buy what you like and don't care too much about what other people think of what you wear.
I bought my first pair the other week when I was shopping with my wife for shoes for my kids they are the mid Dias de los muertos. I’m 31 and I absolutely loved them and now I have the gym reds now and I have laser blues as well as the white shadows on the way. I honestly don’t know shoes or fashion I just really like the colors of the pairs I own.
You literally described my exact experience getting my first jordan! My first air jordan 1 I got last year, and it was the air jordan 1 mid chicago "black" toe. I know it isn't the high and not as cool, but honestly just stoked to have the shoe.
The problem with mids is that most coloways are trash except for when they’re a collab like the Melody Ehsani, or Maison Chateu ones, that’s another reason why they’re so hated.
I used to not care also bout the mid or high until i got a couple pairs of hi's & the quality is way better. Looks cleaner too. But ill still rock a mid. Jordan 1 is a icon look.

You forgot to mention the paint color on the eyelet area. Mids are usually the same color as the dominant color on shoe. Like those breds…the Mid version is red on the eyelets and the high is black.

i think it's because a pair of dunk is a little thicker than a low. it basically looks the same tho.
The dunk sb lows are def cushier but reg dunks and Jordan 1 lows are pretty similar feel imo

This is a perfect situation to learn how to stay true to yourself and get what you want! I am getting the black and red mids for sure. I love the price and look. Who gives a damn what someone else says about it? The next person will just tell you that you’re dumb for overpaying for the high. There is no winning when you chase other people’s approval. My first pair of Jordan 1s were the Chicago Mid Patent Leathers. I waited in line at the now closed down Nike Town in Honolulu back in November 2003 when I used to live right down the street from there... I had no idea that they were mids either and I was super stoked that the Jordan 1 was finally getting some love at that time. Thankfully, I was able to cop a pair that day, and they are still holding up after over 17 years! Crazy to see how the Jordan 1 is now one of the Main Eventers in the Jordan Brand.
and here I am wearing my Air Jordan 1 Ultra High BREDs (At the time was around $100). These were slept on for sure. Now they going for $195 and I can't find them locally at all. These are the only breds I can afford at the time

I think mids are more of a daily shoe, but highs are for special occasions, also the mids are getting pretty nice color ways now days, I just got the linens and there is no high or lows with the same color way,and this color way is sexy af
I remember getting the Jordan 1 mid UNC patent leather when I was in the 6th grade. Not many people knew the difference between mid and high at school but I didn’t care. I like how you said rock what you like and don’t let anyone’s opinion determine who you are. If you get a chance can you do a video on why people hate team Jordan shoes? For some reason a lot of people tend to knock on them cuz it’s not a retro.

You missed one little detail to differentiate between high and low. If you look from the side, you’ll see that highs have 9 holes for the lacing and the lows have only 8 in consequence of the lower height logically. But as you said, they’re almost the same shoe and I think they look great .

I didn’t even know there was a difference when I started getting into AJ1’s nearly 20 years ago and for a while, a solid colorway on an AJ1 was all that mattered; and to an extent still today. Hype is stupid.
I have both the Highs and the Mids. All I did was just paint the tab black and it’s pretty much the same shoe just mid.
I seriously started collecting this past year and I got a pair of the Chicago mids and they're great looking. I use them to workout for leg day since they have decent ankle support. I have 2 pairs of highs now and just keep going back to wearing my mids. All in all the hate comes from people who are childish and thinks having a certain pair of shoes makes them somehow better than someone that doesn't have a pair. Its all material stuff at the end of the day. The way you treat someone will go way further than what you physically have. Who knows from one day to the next it could all be gone and all you're left with is a sorry attitude if you're negative about dumb stuff like hating someone that wears mids. It just makes us all look foolish because we're keeping Nike and Jordan and all other companies rich and putting more money into resellers pockets making it that much harder to cop the next pair of sneakers.

To be honest, I wear both. As if today April 2nd. I miss out on Georgetown high, I bought the Jordan mid armory navy color way for the look I am looking for. I can careless if the next person judge me. I still rock my canvas low shoes too.
I personally mostly buy mids. I just like the smaller proportions and how they look more streamlined compared to the highs. To me, the heal cup on the highs are ridiculously tall if you really look at them objectively. The mids are also more comfortable to wear imo.

If you are the type of person that cared about a AJ1 mid looking like a high an you dont mind doing a diy you can remove the jumpman stitching on heel an use leather putty to fill in holes an then repaint it. Then you can either buy tongue tags or remove from another shoe and sew them on. They might not be the right height but they wont look as bad..
The shoe is dope regardless of mid or high, anybody saying different simply has no sense of their own style.

My first AJ1 was the 2003 Patent Leather Chicago Mid. I see it like this hypebeast can't rock mids bc of pressure of their particular peers. A Sneakerhead can wear whatever shoe and change the culture and get comps from people who don't care about hype. Who has the most power people ???
Imo it's just that weird in between size that looks out of place. If it works for someone else that's cool tho. People shouldn't be knocked for wearing something that works for them.
I prefer the mids over the highs for a few reasons:
• I prefer the mid cut, makes them less bulky
• the shape is more consistent on the mids
• soft/not so soft leather, don’t matter. I’m wearing the hell out of them
• there are mids out there with decent leather (SE version)
• why pay for Highs when they’re basically the same as mids?
• hooping & working out, mids are a bit more optimal

same here, my first pair of jordan 1 was a pair of retro nouveau black that i picked up in hong kong on sale, i saw them and i liked them and they felt comfy so i bought them - only years later i realized they were mids... well guess what i like mids and i will get more pairs because the height is perfect for my feet and ankle and because they are easy to cop . wear what you want

I like the mids but sometimes it pisses me off one they’ll make a high with a cool color way and then change one thing on the mid which makes it look cheaper. Like when they take the original Chicago color way and make the toe black or something. The black and gym red color way on the mids is better than on the high though, the high has too much black

Me personally I prefer mids and lows over highs, only reason I didn’t cop these is because of the unnecessary red patch on the eyelets like why not just keep it black?
The mid quality leather really makes the shoe uncomfortable to me. I get that the leather isn't the greatest in the highs, but least it's soft enough to bend and mold
I couldn't get Air Jordan's back in 1985 in my size as a kid we could only get "Sky Jordan's" same colorways but said SKY instead of AIR...man did we catch heat for that. We got teased and ridiculed for not being old enough. When the new ones came out you better believe we got the smallest size in Men's Air Jordan's. Unfortunately people will find a reason to make themselves feel better by putting others down. Push the peace and be the change. Honestly the mids have gotten better the past few years. Removing the jumpman from the heel was so key and making so many Chicago based colorways was the real key 🔑 Buy what you like and don't care too much about what other people think of what you wear.
I bought my first pair the other week when I was shopping with my wife for shoes for my kids they are the mid Dias de los muertos. I’m 31 and I absolutely loved them and now I have the gym reds now and I have laser blues as well as the white shadows on the way. I honestly don’t know shoes or fashion I just really like the colors of the pairs I own.

The problem with mids is that most coloways are trash except for when they’re a collab like the Melody Ehsani, or Maison Chateu ones, that’s another reason why they’re so hated.

You forgot to mention the paint color on the eyelet area. Mids are usually the same color as the dominant color on shoe. Like those breds…the Mid version is red on the eyelets and the high is black.
I would still rather rock a mid then a low 🤦🏽♂️😑
