The Batman is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. Produced by DC Films and 6th & Idaho and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film is being directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. Set in his second year of fighting crime, the film sees Batman uncover corruption in Gotham City while facing a serial killer known as the Riddler.
Development began in 2014. Ben Affleck, who portrayed Batman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), planned to direct, produce, co-write, and star. His story, co-written with Geoff Johns and set in the DCEU, featured Batman facing Deathstroke. However, Affleck chose not to write or direct in 2017 due to his dissatisfaction with the script, and Reeves was hired to take over. He reworked Affleck's story to focus on a younger Batman, and sought to emphasize the detective side of the character to a greater extent than previous Batman films. Comics that inspired Reeves included "Year One" (1987), Batman: The Long Halloween (1996-1997), and "Ego" (2000).
Affleck left The Batman entirely in January 2019 due to personal problems and his lack of enjoyment in the role. The film's connections to the DCEU were removed and Pattinson was cast in May 2019 following an extensive auditioning process; further casting took place in late 2019. Principal photography lasted from January 2020 to February 2021 and took place in Chicago and throughout England; some scenes were shot using the StageCraft virtual production technology developed by cinematographer Greig Fraser. Production was suspended between March and September 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the film's release date being delayed twice from an original June 2021 date.
The Batman is scheduled for release in the United States on March 4, 2022. Two sequels are planned and two spin-off television series are in development for HBO Max.

It's hard to play joker. It's harder to play batman.
I’ve not seen many DC or Marvel. The odd one or two now and again. But always liked Batman. Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer, DeVitos penguin creeped me out. Love Batman 🖤

Also Mark, complete separate note but there's rumours that the studio test screenings last weekend of Blonde (the Ana De Armas Marilyn Monroe biopic) were truly abysmal. Like, horrific and the whole thing is barely watchable. Netflix were banking on giving it a 'for your consideration' awards run and instead, are now trying to offload it to another distributor.

The director of photography is also the same one from Rogue One, notice the hallway scene with Darth Vader is very similar to the shot of Batman getting shot in the dark. I love the parallel of the villains fearing Batman in the way that the galaxy feared Darth Vader.
Could be he had Star Wars on the brain having scored Rogue One? Both the composer (Michael Giacchino) & cinematographer (Greig Fraser) did both films so will be interesting to see if we get much comparison. (The cinematographer also did Dune.)

Have you seen the squid game? This drama deals with the same topic as Parasite, but shows it in a completely different way. I recommend to you.
The best Batman, is Kevin Conroy, Christian Bale is second. Robert Pattison's Batman looks incredible, the darkest, Dark Knight we've seen. Expectations are high let's hope it's as good as it seems.

The bat suit finally gets the respect it deserves in this one. Nolan gave us a good realistic backstory for the suit. Here we see bullets just bouncing off it. Fantastic stuff! Comic book panels have always been like movie storyboards to me. This trailer is pure comic book. Matt Reeves has taken Nolan's realism but retained the comic book look and feel. It looks very good. (It was his performance in Tenent that convinced me Robert Pattison had the right to play Bruce Wayne/Batman.)
The interrogation scene and the last shot stuck with me. Robert's back looks alright for somebody who refused to bulk up. Love the Sawalha family input.

Just remember this is technically Batman year 2 his not what we see years later which is the bulked up hero. This is speed, slick and aggression Batman I see why he really didn't want to look to big if you go back to the comics oh my god i forget the artist's name who did the drawings he made him look sleeker and more Bruce Lee body type

Paul Dano's Riddler has John Doe vibes from Se7en all over this...
I think they will take the gritty and real elements of joker and make the villains equivalent to serial killers and fuse that with the action pack Nolan universe. I get the jig saw like persona with a Jeffery dahmer look to the riddler. I’m digging this. The darker the better. I think they want the Jeffery dahmer look for the riddler to do what they did with the joker make you feel for the bad guy and his upbringing getting the short straw in society and treated badly but also frightened and hate because of what he does. Looking at the riddlers hair in a bowl cut and glasses I think this is the angle they want to go
