I've been wanting something like this for so long, an early warning satellite system.
I built one years ago, I call it the TWATALITE!

Fr I got dreadnaught npc ships on my server it gets hectic if they get close to your base
To be fair, we could already do this, and we didn't need to pay for it in a DLC, it was just a pita to set up.
And considering that enemies spawn within your antenna's detection radius anyway, there really wasn't a point, unless you wanted to do remote mining ops. If you do that, make a series and I'll watch it.
Been thinking it would be fun to do a Splitsie-esque run of his latest style, except you can get advanced assemblers and miners if you can get to space (like they require RE elements only found on asteroids). If you could find a mod that gives you a scrap percentage based on grinder tier that would be good too, like a T3 grinder could get you a 50% recovery rate for power cells, with similar balances for computers, motors and displays, but grids, plates and the like get 100%

with there being a 100 m/s speed cap surely the attacking ship will be gone before the rockets get to it

Are we FINALLY getting the ability to *push button* *watch as the ship that's not connected auto takes off, deploys something, and lands on its own* remote command sending?
It was always a feature, so long as you had coding experience or could time things out properly.
@@williambrack1530 Well, yeah, but, as you mentioned, coding, time, and most importantly patience when things don't work. I'm talking more console friendly, non script requiring, way. Console players are missing out on the BIGGEST thing holding consoles back, scripts. Its funny, fallout mods can handle scripts on the Xbox X (F.T.F.N), why can't Space Engineers?
the point of automatons was so that you didnt have to press a button. signal update just feels like a step backwards.
@@kahwigulum you're not putting much thought into what this is able to do.
@@kahwigulum i think you haven't realised yet, but automatons gave you a 2.5km radius of detection, further if you had scouting drones but they'd have to first return to base to trigger anything (currently disregarding the existance of scripts)
but now, your little scouting drones, can now:
enable an antenna for 1s to send signal
disable antenna
enable non-radius beacon
and have the drones at your base home in on that beacon, and let the offensive ai engage the target from however many drones you need
you are in space, in an exploration / deep space mining vessel, and realise there is a neaby threat? send a stealth laser signal to your base, and have some AI gunships fly over to help and escort you out
this brings various things to the table of combat and utility
on a bigger vessel you can now press a single button, and have all your scouting / escort drones fly over and dock / turn off
ranged signal - information is the greatest weapon there is
Seeing that stage separation made me realize just how much i want like, a separator block or something, just a block that destroys itself
There's probably a mod for that. Separator or joiner block... together-er block... merge block? Nah last one too silly let's keep thinking
The Merge Block was made exactly for that but they're large enough and quirky enough that we really wanted alternatives.
@@Mallchad Exactly, you need at least 2 merge blocks to connect things and it also glues the 2 grids together if they're touching anywhere so you can't really make compact builds with it.
@@pavelsvacha you... absolutely can, the edges when disconnected might look weird, but you absolutely can make seamless merge block connections (from the outside) there are multiple armor shapes which don't connect to one another, the slopes for an example
The direction of these trailers has always been great but this one's my favorite!
I can already see the complex communication networks in front of my eyes.
An actual usage for spy probes? Hell yea!
Antenna Satellites... As a person who manually placed enough to use standard antennas to connect Mars to Earth-like, seeing the satellite gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. (I called it Radio Road, as it was a highway to control cargo drones going to and from a remote controlled mining station on Europa to feed my ice need... Main Base was on Earth-Like Moon)

This was the first thing I thought was needed and missing when I first played with antennas... I want this ASAP.
A great addition. All that remains regarding automation is a complete Programmable Block API capable of doing everything, and interacting with the other automation blocks as well. (Include jump drive jump command would be lovely)
I love how one of the engines on the rocket is not even firing in the second part of the launch lolol
Now it will be possible to sit on the base 100% of the time and use only drones)

There’s two things that would make this an amazing update.
1) I’d love for a way to view cameras through displays.
2) It would be nice if we had a pvp or a pve combat scenario that involved both ground and space.
There is a mod for live camera feed but it will absolutely drag down your game speed unless you're running it on a very high spec PC.
I can't see that being added officially because of the performance impact

Ever since warfare 2, I have dreamed of a signal system beyond the remote control. After automatons came out, it was my most desired feature
