Oh my goodness I'm overwhelmed!!!! Thank you so much for the shoutout and I'm so happy to see those seeds working out for ya
Plant Flix definitely going to buy some seeds 😍😍
@@DavidMoralesPlants Aww thank you!
@@Plantflix Are you getting more SOH seeds? I couldn't find them on your site. But I do love the selection you have! Thank you for what you do, I commented below already about my terrible luck buying seeds online. And that was just ONE story. I am sorry to sat, it has happened more than once. (sigh) Last year I ordered Pilea Peperomoides and they sent me coffee beans!😂😂😂 I can laugh about it now.
@@pudgyplanter1130 I don't have SOH seeds at the moment, I've been getting lots of requests tho so I'm on the hunt for a grower now and I'll post updates if/when I do find some :) And aww thank you!! I got scammed myself which is what ultimately led me to starting this business so I definitely feel ya there!
We love you!!!!
Only 3 mins in - wondering if she figures out that the "inner tray" is actually a humidity dome/top to the whole thing XD
Omg 😂😂😂😂 NO! I was today years old when I realized that wow
You learn something new every day! 💜💙🤷🏼♀️😅😘
😆😂 thinking the same 😆😂👍its a mini greenhouse /growhouse 👍
Lol I came to make that exact comment.
I knew this but somehow did not clue in 😆😂
How cool that the you grew the SOH & Monstera from seed!!! That is so exciting!!!
😍😍😍
The reason the others didn't come up is because they wernt kept in a propagator with a lid on as the humidity has to be really high aswell as the temprature
What a fun video! I love planting seeds, but mine always seem to dry out and die. When I first moved to the Arizona desert I was so in love with the beautiful red yucca and the orange red bird of paradise that when I was at a store and saw they had them in the parking lot I swiped some of the seed pods. I cut soda bottles in half and inverted the top inside the bottom and put some string from the bottom to the top and made a self watering pot by filling the bottom up with water and it worked perfectly! And I didn't have to buy anything. I would love to see more videos like this, I love little crafty plant videos of things I can try to do too ✌️
I think if you would have put the clear cover on top you would have saved your humidity and your seeds and plants would have done much better. We have been growing all of our garden plants in the house for years. Starting in February with snow outside, to putting them outside in early June in Pennsylvania. Really satisfying. I do use artificial light and a heat mat.❤️✌🏻🌿🍃🌱
Same her! Starting mostly all my veggies for the garden from seeds but have yet to try houseplants from seeds. The clear cover is important for humidity for the seed in growing media to keep moist 😊 But now you know Becca De La Plant - love your videos ❤️😘
Very interesting! I had never considered starting houseplants from seed. I like this type of video where we see the "final" product of a project. I feel like we get left hanging otherwise and don't know whether or not to give something a try since we don't know if it was a success or not. This takes the guesswork out of it and I like that. Thanks for doing this and sharing!
Yes same here!! I love knowing how it all ends.
I bought my monstera seeds from her shop back when she was jnly on Etsy. Mine are huge now, and I lived growing them. :)
Yayy! I love hearing this, so happy those Monsteras are still doing well :)
Farmer Becca in da HOUSE!!!!! Good for you!!! Yes, I have grown things from seed, my Tomato plants, Kolrabi, Watermelon, I am growing Cactus from seed, that I literally just planted last week. Great video!! Happy Thursday!!
Hahaha yesss!! ☺️☺️❤️ good for you!
I started my monstera, pink polka dot, philodendron hope, and Japanese aralia seeds the same exact day from the same website ❤️ I do not have a grow light so I can see how much much better yours did from that! Great video!!
Wtf this is awesome. Thank you for your patience in making this video! I think I would have forgotten about filming or given up 😎 I will definitely be ordering some monstera deliciosa seeds this coming spring! This was really cool to watch!
Loved the video, idea, and seed shop suggestion for @Plant Flix. I will be going straight to the site from here, so thank you for this video! I just wish more research would have been done in preparation on how to do seed starting indoors and how to use the trays. I start so many of my outside garden plants from seeds and there is definitely a learning curve. If not done correctly, many seeds will not sprout and that is no fault of the seed seller, whom often unfairly get a bad review from unexperienced growers. I made some of the same mistakes in the beginning, so I do not fault Becca at all. I am just glad to see that in the end there was some success even for a beginner.
I loved this project style video. You should totally do more of these! Love the little monstera, how cute!
☺️❤️
Most of my plants came from seed, or propagations. All my vegetables I start from seed. I have fruit trees growing from seed. It's so rewarding to grow plants from seed. *The clear tray is the lid, it helps maintain moister in the top layer of soil.*
I got the philodendron selloum from plantflix and about half of them sprouted, I planted them in soil in a ziploc bag! One of them looks variegated too 😳
Oh my goodness you really lucked out! Send me a picture of the variegated one I'd love to see! I've had some people send me pictures of white Monstera babies but I haven't seen a Philodendron Selloum one yet!
Plant Flix omw to take a pic of it!
Early squad! We love our plant queen
☺️☺️❤️
Hahahaha, love that " early squad"
Great project! I’ve had good luck growing lotus and eucalyptus from seeds and both were fun to watch grow.
I see that Monstera grown from seed becoming a family heirloom that can be past down through the generations! Just think how big she will be 20-30 yrs time. She needs a name...
SO TRUE!
I figured I’d go ahead and comment this since I notice it literally every. single. time I watch your videos: you have the most iconic cheekbones I’ve ever seen 👌🏼
Oh my gosh!! Thank you so much 😍😍
My favourite plant to grow from seed is coleus. You can get the most amazing colours. It is an outdoor shade plant but I have seen a lot of people growing them from seed as indoor plants too.
I planted some clarinervium seeds that i harvested from my mother plant many months ago and have 6 tiny plants! It has been so fun to watch them grow. I was also very surprised to see them pop up and thrive so quickly. I have them in sphagnum moss on a heat mat with a dome. Highly recommend the dome so it keeps them from drying out too quickly.
Super interested in houseplant seeds!!! Thanks! I love starting plants from seeds but I’ve never done houseplant seeds.
Once settled back in the US, I think I will be tackling planting from seed! This is such a great reference video!
That’s great!! ☺️
This is the best video!! I've always been so scared to try seeds but after watching you do it I think I'm ready to try :)
Yes! I loved this video and this "type" of video. I love my hobby of plant collecting and it's important to me to learn as much as possible about my plants. This is how we learn! Trying new things. Experimenting. Growing. Reading. Listening. All of it! And I just think it's so much fun too! Thank you for the work you did to make this video fun and educational and thanks for the link. I have had some bad luck buying seeds online. Especially since Covid-19 happened my usual seed purveyors(Baker Creek & Burpees) had closed or sold out so I had to purchase from unknowns online and I when I thought I was buying Yucca, Foxglove, and Hollyhock seeds for my outside garden they in fact sold me a bunch of different types of tomato seeds! Ugh I was pissed! Anyway, another lesson learned. Thanks again sweetie! You are one of my all time favorite PlantTubers! xoxo
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! ☺️ thank you so much! also yes it’s so frustrating to get NOT the seeds you thought you were buying. Plant Flix is the best!
This video is perfect timing! I was literally just wondering yesterday if starting houseplants from seeds was possible! loved it
Awesome!! ☺️
How fun! Ugh totally agree with how much work growing veggies is! I attempted my first veggie garden this summer and OMG how exhausting!! I definitely have a new respect for people who have lush gardens sheesh! 😅
Omg soo much work 😂😱 I was not prepared
Great video.
I was overwhelmed with gnats in my house when I first starte planting seeds.
To avoid that pour boiling hot water in your soil.
It will kill the gnat eggs in the soil and prevent them from hatching in your house.
So you would say that the houseplant seed market is kind of....seedy? 😀😀
😂😂 absolutely lol
O yeah definitely a good challenge to grow from the seed. That is a whole different level
Truly!!!
Those monstera seedlings though!🌱 😍
😍😍
Okay holy moly, well now I’m browsing their website and will be buying monsters seeds!!! I just hope I have as much success as you did Becca. 😬
☺️☺️❤️
To make plant tags with paper I just used paper and toothpicks, and then attached them together and covered the paper with packing tape :)
Was really fun to watch
Many thanks for much needed plant content :)
Of course! ☺️
Very cool to see you start some from seed! Makes me wonder if I can do the same! Thank you for some inspiration!
You totally could!
I loved this video!!!
So glad!!
So interesting! Honestly it makes sense that the polka dot plants would struggle... They are drama lovers
They are 😒😂
my huge spider plant has had seed pods on it for a long time so I finally planted some and one of them just sprouted!! I'm very excited to grow a spider plant from seed, even though it puts out so many baby plants already. Also I loved the video as always!!
Omg that’s SO exciting!!!
Woohoo, a new video from our favourite plant mom ♥️🌱
Aww! ☺️❤️
This was sooooo interesting!!! The little monstera, I DIE 😍 so cute. What a fun experiment!!! I def want to try!!
This is the coolest I want to try! I started my veggies from seed with mixed results this year but never houseplants!
You totally should!!
I liked this, fun project and now I’m motivated to try!!
☺️❤️
So happy to see you on the United States of RUclips! #youtubeimpact
Aww yay! I was honored to be featured!
Loved this. You answered all my questions! Thank you
After planting the monstera seeds, how often did you water them?
Kinda off subject but wondering why you do not like polka dot plants? I'm on my 3rd one and tryong desperately to keep this one going, but wondered if you had same trouble too? Harli G grows them beautifully?! Just random question.... Loved the 2 plants that made it thru this experiment!! ♡
I got a sandwich container, filled it with sphagnum moss, and drosera seeds. I started with 50 seeds and most of them have sprouted. Of course, now I need to figure out what to do with all the plants, lol!!! They are so tiny now, I can't wait till they get bigger.
That’s amazing! Good for you 😁
Becca De La Plants: I not a fan of polka dot plants
Betsy Begonia: Gasps then faints to the floor lol
Is there an update on the monstera and string of hearts?
Great video! I bought a rare plant seedlings( Alocasia Frydek and philodendron mamei) with small baby leaves (the smallest ones seem to be yellowing though I give it high humidity (about 50 to 70 per cent) under full spectrum grow lights and water when partially dry; I fertilize only a little). What is wrong with the yellowing leaves? It sprouted a few new leaves for each plant but taking a long time to grow bigger. I bought it a few months ago around September to late October. What is the care for seedlings to ensure they grow with big leaves? I did not grow them from seeds but they were sold as babies with small leaves. Thanks for any tips.
Yay!! I’ve been waiting for this video :)
☺️☺️
I make plant tags by cutting up plastic milk jugs (after I wash them)
That’s a great idea!
Same 😊
Wow Becca! Thank you so much for doing this project. Amazing! Though...I'm still learning how to care for my plants and am barely learning how to propagate well..I'm not sure I'll do well with seeds! I can't wait to get better so I can learn more and try! I would LOVE to see more of your projects!
Hahaha yes seeds can be a bit stressful!!
Talk to me about the clarinervium pollinating!!! Mine just put out an inflorescence and i have no clue what to do!
I chopped off the inflo when I saw pollen on it & put it in the freezer! That was advice from someone I trust haha so when another inflorescence comes out, I’ll just “thaw” it out and rub them together at the right time and hope for the best lol.
Becca De La Plants ok! I will have to do that. So you cut it when you could see all the yellow dots on it I’m assuming that’s the pollen? (I sound so clueless, ha!)
I started cacti seeds! So much fun.
Love that!
Love starting seeds it's so much fun! 😄
Same!! ☺️
Lol the selloum got moved to thaumatophyllum. It is now thaumatophyllum bipanatiphitidum. I hope this is helpful love your videos so much😃
Ooooh nice!!
Someone else has probably told you but the monstera seeds have to be planted ASAP from receiving them and can't be stored as they die very quickly otherwise.
where did you buy the seedling tray?
Nice! Is it possible for us to get a status update now that it’s been almost a year? I’m curious to know how it progressed, specifically the monstera.
Ooh definitely! I have a photo going up on Instagram in a few days with the update :)
@@BeccaDeLaPlants yay! Can’t wait to see it!
@@BeccaDeLaPlants thanks!
I love my polka dot plant! Her name is Paloma, she’s red, and she’s adorable
Omggg where did you get the black plastic cells and also Would you know where to find secret Santa kit
I got them from the local nursery! And not sure about secret Santa kit..
Hello, thank you for your videos.Can I plant kalathea from seeds in October;
How can I do this without a greenhouse setup?
From North Dakota - yes I need a heat mat :)
🙌🏼
I would love to see such project
where you get the SOH seeds
A friend!
You mention growing vegetable from seed, hey its super easy getting started with those, just take the seeds from your favorite vegetables and plant them. Well I let mine dry out and my tomatoes are a couple of feet tall now and blooming. Maybe I'll even get some tomatoes. Also planted some green peppers.
Very true!
String of pearls takes forever to grow from seed!😭 i waited 2 months to see something sprout! Then i forgot abt it😭😂
Hello
I ordered few days ago Aglaonima seeds and I can’t plant them without any knowledge please could u help me how to inplante it
Best regards
wait wait wait do the monstera seeds come from the plants flower??? if so i am sooooo doing this like right now
If the flower gets fertilized then yes! Which if it’s indoors, it probably won’t get fertilized
Could your veggies have had too much humidity? I’m not sure they needed to go in a greenhouse
I wanna do this someday, def wanna hybridize my xmas cacti and epiphyllums d:🌵❤. Grew a lot of ornamental outside plants from seed and loved it❤. Seed starting is a good way to produce a lot of plants and make money potentially lol. But ofcourse some things germinate and grow faster than others. Also just having many mother plants for cuttings would be good but it's an alternative lol. Or do both 😉😎.
That would be sooo cool!!!
I tried to start mixed-cacti, lavendar, cilantro, and rosemary seeds and they all failed XD but my cacti sprouts took off like crazy
do you still have your monstera ?
Yes! I show it in a video coming out soon actually :)
@@BeccaDeLaPlants incredible! ♥️
Where did you get the string of hearts seeds?
Adam (Knot Dude) he had extras.
Damn 😢
Guys do you know any plant french youtubers? I want to learn French but I want plant videos hehe
I do not, but I’d love to know some recommendations if you find any!
Mon gang vert - ruclips.net/channel/UCYI96MyqoYYaxHZ-PLUMzYg
Becca De La Plants didn’t you do a collab with Marion Botanical ?
Marion Botanical, Une fleur parmi les fleurs, Philosodendron, Le petit jardin de Bob, Jungleeden on Instagram makes super interesting stories and answers to everyone, she recently made a few RUclips videos, la Greenista, Au fil des plantes, À fleur de pot podcast is SO GOOD, I highly highly recommend it, Désordre Végétal on Instagram is great as well...
Great recommendations! No I don’t think I collabed with them... but I do follow on Instagram :)
I think next season I will attempt to grow a few plants from seedlings 🤔
Yesss!
Can you grow “variegated“ string of hearts from seeds? Or only the non-variegated version.
Hmmm. Not exactly sure but I doubt it.
Unrelated: Where did you get your glasses? Gorgeous (and I want it! :) )
Frames... I meant frame 🤦🏾♀️ (the ones you're wearing while filming the last Q&A bit)
Warby Parker :) they’re they Haskell frames!
If you seed something like philodendron /anthurium etc the seeds need to be relativliy fresh for good growing success. But you can also soak them in gibberellic acid. It is a phytohormon which is needed to germinate.
Also, it is easier to grow in season in my opinion. Don't now why but even if the plant germinates the juvenil plant often struggles if its not in season. Even though it is a houseplant (my experience)
Oooh those are great tips! Thank you!
I would by the SOH seeds. I like their website. I’ve been trying to find a reputable site and got scammed earlier in the year. Thank you.
I think you were supposed to soak the sellom seeds.
Do you need some plant tags? I'd be happy to send some
That’s very kind of you!! I don’t have any seeds starting anymore but maybe next year :) thank you!!
PLEASE, PLEASE repost where you bought your seeds from!
its called Plantflix.com they also have a etsy account
I went to go buy from plantfix and I couldnt check out ):
Uh oh! Send them and email or DM on Instagram! They’re super responsive
I think you would have more success if you kept the humidity dome on. Plus the soil was wayyyyyyy too dry. The others didn’t have a chance to sprout if it stayed dry at any point. 😔 but good job on your monstera SOH’s.
Haha yes both true!
Got kind of a #Bettypage vibe goin' on.
🌿💚
Thanks! Haha
Is there a certain time you should grow these or does it not matter because its indoors?
13:25 answers that :)
@@BeccaDeLaPlants I just got there lol should have watched the whole thing 🤭
😂☺️
❤❤❤
Am i crazy? I think of plants as lazy bffs (plural)
Oh my God! Holes in the bottom of each cell! Whoda thunk invented dat? A really smart fella, like Einstein, I reckon! Wow! And an extra inner tray for added strength! Looks like it could double as a humidity dome too, if needed in a pinch! 🤔 What a dork (dorkette?)! And she doesn't even bother to edit out her faux pas, even though I'm sure many people besides me (sort of) have informed her of it!
