Each parade has a different time, location, and theme. That's the ZULU parade (St.Charles to Canal St, I believe.) Back in the day I think there were around 24 parades for Mardi Gras. When I moved there for work in 1981, I had never even heard of Mardi Gras!! Thanks for the trip back in time.
My son got me firestick that enables me to watch on my large TV. Only thing I don't like is that I can't leave thumbs up or comment. Want to tell you that you took us to Mardi Gras tonight. So COLORFUL and fab as you always film. Thanks for taking your fam and me along...as always, Mary P.
I went to Mardi Gras in 1976 when I was 12. I remember going up to the Queen of the parade and raised my hand, and she threw me the best big orange color glass beads, that was the best one. Also they used to give out these different colored metal coins, which were cool.
Thanks for coming to New Orleans. I’m glad you enjoyed. My father was King Zulu in 1988 Arthur Vigne! He passed in 2019. He was the oldest living king in the club🥰
Wow that was crazy! You can take Jah to the BARKUS PARADE! We lived in St.Louis at the time. It is for animals. I had my 12lb Chihuahua Maya Rose in a sparkly dog sweater with matching gold beads. Her posse of Pit Bulls were all decked out too. We had so much fun! Maya got a lot of pets and being told how pretty a puppy she was. If you ever get the chance take Jah!
I am so jealous!!! I’ve lived in Houston for 39 years and my husband just refuses to go, one of these days I’m going to find a friend who wants to go🎉Ty for taking me it may be the closest I get Jordan😎your getting a lot of goodies for you and Jah, have fun🐾
Thanks for passing a bit of time with us here for Mardi Gras Day! Great video of the Zulu parade. I was "down the Avenue" around MLK for this parade. Super great to have this back!
Hi Jordan, WOW, that parade was fantastic. So much time and effort has gone into those floats. Great to see people enjoying themselves and things getting back to normal. You definitely looked the hippy with all your beads ha, ha. Lovely to see the Jahster as always. Great vlog Jordan.
They definitely put in a ton of time and sweat. It takes a huge group of dedicated folks all year to create them. It still amazes me how they do it even tho I'm from here.
I've Never been to one but I Definitely want to see one now! The excitement was palpable! Such Fun!! I surely liked the painted coconuts! Nice of you to share with the lady for her little girl All the Beads! ALL the Floats and the time involved! Mind boggling
That was awesome Jordan! I'm glad you got to experience mardi Gras! We went there 10 years ago, and enjoyed ourselves. The St Louis cemetery, museums, Cajun Cuisine, beignets -so good!
Grew up in Louisiana 41 years, oh how I miss Mardi Gras. My Hometown of Shreveport had 3 big parades and it was a lot easier and less stressful than going to N'awlins
Awesome Vlog Jordon, grow up in New Orleans brought back lots of good memory. Have not been back since Katrin . I will enjoyed the Vlog. keep up the good work been following you from the very first video.
Wow this was worth the wait so many happy people 💛 📿beads lots of them Mardi Grah was fun even I was yelling grab it Jordan. Thanks for the fun New Orleans so 😊 happy.
Jordan, this was absolutely fantastic!!! You prompted me to make reservations for next year. But, if I have to stand next to a guy yelling HEY the whole time, I'm stuffing a coconut in his mouth!! Yikes, give it a rest! Hopefully we'll see you next year. Be safe 🕊️
I've marched in a few parades. It's hard enough just to walk it. But playing an instrument with the amount of energy and enthusiasm is incredible. I'm glad Mardi Gras is back!
That was very interesting! I really don't understand what's going on, why they throw the necklaces, and why they are dressed up as they are. I think an evening on Google & RUclips may help me understand! Thanks Jordan for another awesome vlog!!! 🌼
What an awesome video Jordan loved it all the different floats, thank you for sharing your first Mardi Gras because this was my first also i really enjoyed it and Jordan you got a lot beads you were in a good spot. I enjoy your videos you share with us and i love what you do and it was great seeing jah in this video.
Yes that last float is a tradition to throw back beads and try to ring the pipes on the organ thing LOL and it's insane how much trash is left after Mardi Gras. They have the street sweepers go through and clean it. Then they bring it to a huge landfill area. The pile from all of that is about the size of a school gymnasium if it was filled. It is insane how much garbage is left after the parades.
The beads that are thrown back are donated to the NOLA ARC. This provides employment for differently abled people who sort, package, and resell the recycled beads at a heavy discount to benefit the Association and pay the workers. It's a cool thing to contribute to for sure!
Loved this, Jordan. This is the first I've ever seen of the Mardi Gras festivities. Sounds like everyone had a blast. Did I hear correctly that this is just one of several parades that they have? If so, are any of them at night with illuminated floats? That would be something to see. Well done--thanks for helping make my day.
WooHooooo!! I was hoping you vlogged this. I met so many people during the pandemic, who live there !! They were all going live. Now we get to see your view!! Yay!!!!!!
I’m from here. I haven’t been to mardi gras in new orleans in a long time as I moved to Morgan city… but it gives me chills watching this back. My home is amazing
FREAKING AWESOME JORDAN, WENT TO NEW ORLEANS ONCE, 2 WEEKS AFTER THE MARDI GRAS. TOO MANY PEOPLE FOR ME, BUT LOOKS FUN 👌 LOVE THE HISTORIC DISTRICT THERE. SAFE TRAVELS AS ALWAYS. 🙏 💕 ❤️
I'm glad to see you've come to my neck of the woods. :) I hope you had a chance to experience Bourbon street at midnight. They line the street with police on horseback and literally push people off the street like a plow. LoL it a "ok, go T.F. home, Mardi Gras is over!" LoL.
I've always wanted to go to Mardi Gras. It looks like so much fun. And you looks like you were having such a fabulous time. You sure walked away with a Treasure Trove of beads, etc. Thanks for taking us there
Lots of excitement Catch those beads 🥳 Would be better at night! With lights! You got a try the alligator, crocodile or possum on a stick. Then try the chicken. Fantastic Would love to see one of the floats from Mardi Gras at the Rose parade! Then watch the crowd goes wild
oh my gosh I've never been to a Mardi Gras. this one is so facinating. love the Marines, enjoyed all the band and the girls ! each float gorgeous and so vibrant with colors !!!!! the costumes beautiful !!!! you mean there was more then just one , wow. glad you had a fun time. I know I did just watching. got a kick from the person always saying " hey, hey, hey " lol. good day Jordan and Jah !!!!
This was a really special Vlog. We couldn't help thinking about when you visited Venice, another great city that annually celebrates in style. Although your Venice Vlogs were terrific, they were overshadowed by the arrival of covid. It was a scary time. But the return of Mardi Gras to New Orleans makes it seem like things are returning to normal. So we just wanted to say that , throughout the pandemic, 'Daze with Jordan' made life a lot brighter and happier than it otherwise would have been, and for this our family thank you very much. Love to Jah.
Hey I see me! I was on Float 13! You can really see me at the 16:44 mark with on the lower level of the float with the big gold chain bead on. It was an amazing experience that I vlogged myself! Shoot I think I saw you recording and threw something your way haha
Yay for getting a coconut! Those dancers at the beginning were really working it. The dude next to you was getting on my nerves. Hopefully you ignored him?!
Beautiful, colorful, and full of life! Wish I were there!

If I watch until the end, hope that utube gives you credit for thumbs up.

Positively splendid Jordan! 💛💜💚🥳
So WONDERFUL to see something NORMAL again after covid!!!
My first Mardi Gras too. I loved watching but the crowd would cause a panic attack. Thanks Jordan. :)
This looks like a lot of fun but I was getting anxiety just seeing all the people that were there.
Oh, I’m so glad you had fun. I’m here and it was so great to see everyone happy and relaxed. We sure needed it.
