- Dropping a hitter today as we #bottlepop #Blantons Straight from the Barrel and taste that up against #Stagg Jr batch 14. This was a really fun taste comparison. #NeatNation knows that I love me some Buffalo Trace products, so this was definitely a treat to throw down. I hope you enjoy the journey! Thank you for opening up that bottle for us, I know it wasn’t easy but we appreciate it.
Would love to see and EHTaylor barrel proof VS stagg Jr in the future as well
I would definitely do this if I had an EHTBP.
@@DrewPWhiskey Good man! If had one I’d send some your way. If I ever acquire one, I’ll make sure you get some to make that comparison happen… I missed it by 20 min at my local store a couple months ago when they got it. I could never spend $600 on a bottle.
My brother just came home from France with a bottle of straight from the barrel. It is certainly spicy. We tried it straight and also with an ice cube. The ice SANK!
I’ve literally been waiting for someone to do this comparison… Damn good man! I like your style
Thanks Jake - Glad you dig.
Drew, excellent video. I am curious to know which bourbons were as good or better that were on the shelf and available because I would love to pick some of those ones up! 12:20
As much as I want to say there are, there just aren’t unfortunately. I’ve tried to find substitutes and can’t.
I don't know what they taste like but there are alot of $125-150 bottles at my local shop that have made everyone's 2021 list.
@@jackthepickledhound what bottles? I see Remus V and bookers 3-21 on everyone’s but what else have you picked up on? Coy hill maybe
@@rebellaxbro Bardstown #6. I could only afford the Fusion at $62.
Calumet Farm has some well aged bottles at $120 but not high proof.
I think you're right. It's looking like prices are over $250. Crazy. The Coy Hill is in the showcase for $500, right next to a 23 year Pappy for $5,500. Yes 5 grand. So it's all making Barrell Spirits look good at $89.
Thanks for the review! I'm having the straight from the barrel right now and I'm picking up the honey flavours that you mentioned. I reckon I prefer the Blantons over the Stagg Jr.
My Blantons took a couple months for the darker wood notes to come out. Like you said, it felt muted at first. Curious what happens to that bottle in a couple months.
BSFTB your tasting notes remind me off.... another warm place
4:32 LMFAO! Yep, I have done the same when getting some of my finest pours on my fingers!
Great video, nice comparison Drew!
Great video would love to compare these two have to find a Blantons sftb first haha
Great comparison ... you're in Milwaukee, as am I. Let's drink some whiskey
I'll be pleased when this expensive whiskey fad passes.
This isn't aging well... unfortunately... 🫠
Love living vicariously thru these videos of Whiskey I'll never be able to find
Agreed! Both are dream bottles for me, but unlikely. 😂 I am happy for Drew because he’s a down to earth guy. Some of the other whiskey tubers are annoying as hell.
I got a bottle yesterday not sure if I want to keep it never open it or try it out
i compared my bottle of stfb to stagg jr b13. i preferred the blanton's as it was better rounded overall. my sftb bottle had a big apricot nose and quintessential palate and finish. i have always found the stagg jr a little rough around the edges and i don't reach for it often.
I found a Stagg Jr for $49
Unofficial: what were the bottles you passed up today that you think are better than these two hyped bottles?
blend them!
! i can't believe you didn't!!
Yep blend them ,and let us know how it goes ,I blended my Blanton's sftb with a cognac turned out great .you gotta love experimenting with the art of blending.cheers for your video.cheers from Australia
Here in Australia SFTB cost me equivalent of $120USD. Love high proof & it quickly became my favourite bourbon & it opened up more now that I'm half way down the bottle. Stagg Jr is approx $220USD at my local store. It's rare & I'd love to try but....not sure if it's worth that.
Good video man! Great bottles. Thank you for cracking, the straight from the barrel.
" I wont clear the shelf, that's rude" Best thing I have heard in a video in a long time.
Let the stfb open up for 2-3 months. Thats all it needs.
Stagg Jr $120 in Kentucky ?
