Hi Brett. I followed the same process as you did with the note 10 to s20. I had a s9+ to a s20+. I chose not to take photos and videos as my s9+ was full and these were backed up to Samsung cloud and Google photos. Everything went fine but this morning photos are now in my gallery/pictures and I'm not sure why. Could it be because I pressed Samsung cloud to sync images (I wanted any new photos to upload). Can I safely delete them from my device? Thanks for the video.
Smart switch made getting a new [s20 ultra] phone easy. And I used it to move the data to my old phone [S9] from my other old phone [S7].
I used wifi because the old phone [S9] was sensing moisture [erroneously]
Good that you clarify that it is copying over not “transfer” which could mean it wipes the data from the source device. No other tutorials I’ve seen make that clear

Compared to your previous Smart switch video, this one is far more detailed and helpful re: the transfer process and far better at covering all of the steps & settings involved in the process. Especially on which options to select when transferring your accounts & data to your new samsung device, so that all of your U.I. preferences and customized settings will actually remain in effect on your new phone as well.👍

Hi Brett..I'm hoping u r my savior of privacy.. How to secure my data. Contacts, emails, msgs, voicemail, PHOTOS, texts from the snoops on same acct. Different phone numbers should have privacy. No matter same acct. It's personal, respect,privacy, safety. HOW TO SECURE WITH EASE. I'M NOT A SCHOLAR in understanding all this. Memory not best. Too much to do simplicity. All of the other Smart Switch videos I've seen only show how to move data from old Samsung phones. You've done a better job by showing how to transfer from non-Samsung devices too.

I am cautious about any transfer because a few years ago through using Smart Switch with a usb adaptor I lost all contacts from iphone 4s and many important iphone notes (over 300). not sure what went wrong there. I was following the instructions. but the mistake was not to backup iphone before (my PC laptop still does not see iphone's folders to manually backup).

Little advice, use the cord method. Much more efficient than wifi and saves hours.
The wireless method let's you transfer your data from your old device to your new device while the both devices are charging

I noticed you didn't mention the transfer of music files, I want to transfer my music among other things from my old Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to my new Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus. Also, my contacts are saved in my Google account and SIM Card, do I need to select Contacts when transferring the contents? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Hello Brett, thanks for the transfer instructions. I transferred my data from my Galaxy S5 Active; however, it does not appear that my 'Memo' data was transferred. I have 200+ data in my memo folder; tried using a copy '.Memo' to my PC which showed on 4 PDF file.
Where or how do I transfer these files on my my new Galaxy S10+? Could not find a '.Memo' folder on the S10+. Thanks in advance...

hey. nice vid. do the passwords for apps transfer as well? for example, twitter or ig, or do you have to log in again on the new phone?
Brett - when you start the new phone for the first time do you just ignore and bypass the Google restore prompts and go right to Smart Switch or do you do the Google stuff first? Hope that makes sense.

What is the difference between simply adding a Google Account, and Restoring a Google Account from Backup? In the latter, I can choose which backup file (which phone to restore from)? But if I just added a Google Account then I get the general synced data without customizations?
Similarly, how does Smart Switch differ from Restore from Samsung Account? I assume restoring would only be used if the phone was lost?

I already added my Google Account to my new phone, but now want to do Smart Switch to get my pics and videos in full quality, and because not all my contacts were on Google. Am I doing it in the wrong order? Should I delete the Google Account from the phone and begin with Smart Switch, adding back Google later? (either as part of Smart Switch, or independently)

Thanks - good job. My Note 9 had the Galaxy Store but it was in Chinese. I moved my sim card but still in Chinese. Had to open a Samsung Account to get it to change to English so I could download smart switch - coercive.
One question. Will it transfer photos in albums their in or it will put all of photos in one album?
I managed to get my info transferred but my old phone didn't support smart switch so i had to use other methods. I had a umidigi f1 which isn't compatible with smart switch . there may be other phones that don't either. I'll probably stay with samsung phones from now on lol. I just got the A71 and love it. just out of curiosity does gmail and youtube have sound notifications? i've has several phones and computers and none had sound notifications for those 2 apps.
Does it save passwords say my Netflix password, will it transfer when I use smart switch?

Hi Brett, I want to use Smartswitch to transfer and rename my photos and videos from all my other family’s apple devices. I recently purchased a Samsung Note 10+ and used Smartswitch to transfer the photos from my previous phone (iPhone). I’m so happy that it renamed them all with the date/time data in the file names, so I want to now try transferring the photos from all our iPads and iPhones so they are renamed also. Is this possible or can you only transfer photos from the one device only? Thanks Brett!

Finally a video that clarifies how to transfer data stored on an SD card. On my old S10 I mounted an SD card, on my new S24 there is no longer a slot for the SD card so I will have to tick the option to transfer data from the SD card to the new device. I imagine that, on the new device, the data coming from the SD card will occupy the central memory of the device and specific folders will be created or will the pre-existing folders be used? Great video and very helpful. One question - on my old phone many of my apps are on the SD card. The new phone does not have the ability to mount an SD card. Will the apps on the SD card be transferred using smartswitch? (Samsung S8 to Samsung S22 Ultra). Thanks.
I'm not positive on this one but I believe they should transfer with SmartSwitch if the app is available in the Play Store.
