At minute 11:22 of the video after you showed the data transfer results (which did not include the secure folder) you hit on "next" and got a message "unlock secure folder to finish transferring". What happened there? Earlier in the video it looked like secure folder was to be included in transfer? Can you explain?
I would love to see a "out of the box" process too so we know what to do from turning on the new phone to the final phase, cause i know when you first turn it on it asks you questions about setup and looks like you already did that on this phone
Yes I would like that too, as I am stuck and not sure what to do next. It says on the language to put in the sim, but that is contradictory a good video, but I definitely need the dummies guide to setup new phone and transfer. I do miss my son not being around to do this techie stuff for me.
I wonder if the ETA is actually for the file transfer plus copying over and applying your settings and home screen layout because it seems that setup part would probably take about a half hour which would be right on point with the ETA.
Unfortunately, using a cable for transfer is NOT an option for those with hundreds of gigabytes (especially over 700GB a of data--heavy on photos and videos). These phones will run down to zero battery during the file transfer. My experience has been that I have to use Samsung Switch to backup to my computer first and use Samsung Switch to restore from the computer to the new device. If anyone has a better solution, I would love to hear it. This can be an opportunity to edit your gallery and other media for duplicates or files that should be discarded anyway (but it can be a daunting task when you have not done this maintenance for years). It is also a challenge when the phone must be in use for those on call for work. Maybe being tied to a laptop over night is cumbersome but a necessary option. If you do not use the Samsung Switch program, do NOT copy files because the date metadata for photos and videos will all be updated to the date of transfer. The process without using Samsung Switch requires creating zip files and decompressing them on the new phones to retain original date of creation. A HUGE thing to check after your transfer to the new device is that the files in Gallery can still be sorted by date. 10:32 This is another reason that I so dearly miss having the external SD card. It made phone transfers so much easier.
I guess if your phone runs outta battery while transferring, might as well put it on a wireless charger at the same time while transferring using cable, phone may heat up but it should work 😅
@@flashboss4209 Ended up trying backup to restore from from pc. I also put both phones on chargers and ran Smart Switch over wifi. Running through computer backup worked well for one transfer. Let me start by saying thank you for all your videos. They are informative and easy to follow, especially for older viewers like me! I've pre-ordered my S24 Ultra after watching yours and many other videos. I'm trading in my S23 Ultra, which I love. I'm reading a lot of posts on Samsung members and the internet about how there is a problem with the screen and the sound coming out of the speakers. Have you noticed these issues also?
Same. i wish i did it earlier bc I wont get my phone till near the end of the month. However, my final payment on my S23 Ultra is next month lol Affirm is a godsend btw, I started my account with the S23 ultra purchase with interest, now i have like over 2k in spending power. I also bought a Neo QLED TV for gaming so I had to squeeze the S24 pre-order in for purchase
If you have an s23 ultra Id keep it. Not worth trading in for a 1 yr upgrade. Costly and the s23 will get a lot of the s24 features and does already have alot just s24 corrals them together a bit better so things arent so scattered. Theres people out there that upgrade every 3 yrs or whatever but at these prices 1 yr and not the best hardware upgrades Id wait....I am a samsung lover and want the s24 too but just not worth the upgrade. @@jbox8450 my primary motivation for upgrading is storage. I have 256 GB S23 Ultra. As it stands, the best move was simply preordering the S24 Ultra 1TB. At best, I'm seeing offers for an undamaged S23 Ultra second-hand costing around the same price that I'd be paying with the S24. To me, it just makes more sense to get the S24 Ultra, and pay it off in 8 weeks versus spending around the same amount on last year's(still very good) device when I don't really wanna pay that much money in one go right now.

Transferred from my S22U to S24U, wireless, around 300+GB. Transfers got interrupted for a few times. Had to redo. And Smart Switch isn't smart enough to recognize files already been transferred and would re-do the transfer of the whole fricking 300+GB. It was neverending. Then I had to do partial transfer over a few times to avoid being interrupted and incomplete transfer again. Bad experience. Actually I have had migrated from older Samsung to the next gen in the past for 3-4yrs and never had a complete transfer without problem.
My device comes in a few weeks, I currently have Pixel 7 Pro. Can I download Samsung Smart Switch on my Pixel and use these same steps to transfer everything over to my new Galaxy S24U? Or do you have to do something different? If it works for transferring iPhone it has to work for Pixel too yeah? If I have to manually re-download everything I guess that's what I'll do but if I can use this same method I would much prefer that.
I'm interested to see how much mine will take, it's going to be about 200GB for videos, 30GB for Photos and 17GB for Audio alone, so this will be interesting.
This is what I'm going to try, phone-to-phone since Galaxy phones since the Note 3 (Dec. 2013) have a USB 3.0 (5gbps) connections. It should have been commented in his videos to use a USB 3.0 to 3.2 gen2 cables for optimum transfer speed. Also going to try old phone-to-PC-to-new phone. Since I have a newer high speed PC, I believe backing up to PC then importing to a new device will be faster yet.
My phone asked if I wanted to convert the physical sim to an E-sim. It did right then so I no removing of the sim so easy. I also had to turn off the ATT VPN.
Probably due to storage speed. Note 9 had UFS 2.1 The S22U has 3.1 UFS 2.1 sequential write: 255 Mbps UFS 3.1 sequential write: 1200 Mbps Even better is your S24U has UFS 4.0, which has a sequential write of 2800 Mbps.
I've heard of horror stories using smart switch, including unknown settings causing battery drain on the old phone being transferred over to the new phone.
@@oldmangamerlive Transfer to a laptop/pc and then transfer manually back. It's a huge pain, but the settings are pristine. Another alternative is using a cloud backup.
A great addition to smart switch would be addition of "Predictive Text Cloud Sync" feature, which will enhance the UX by 30% for the initial 3-4 months of disturbed typing. FYR- ruclips.net/video/wSwFP4lMbMk/видео.html
im getting a new phone tomorrow, im going to get it done at the store. when they transfer my stuff from my old android to the new android, will they see the photos being transferred? i have a lot of hazbin hotel porn saved and I dont want the employees to see that lmfao
You will not have to customize none of that if you had a SD Card slot.. I was so ready to buy this phone. But no sd was a slap in the face. So I am sticking with my note 9 rocking 1.5 TB of total storage. Maybe they will get it right next phone.
Be careful with smart switch. It can leave your new device buggy. I did Note 20 > S22 Ultra and i had poor performance and battery drain. Factory reset and setting up without smart switch fixed it. Also from reddit it appears setting up the s24 ultra with smart switch has given some users bugs with the display. Im not saying its buggy for everyone but it's something to be aware of
@@oldmangamerlive I backup and restore what I can via Google and Samsung accounts - saved Wifi networks, bluetooth devices etc. I install and log in to apps manually. When it comes to files saved on the phones storage (photos, videos, downloads) personally I use adb as I have a development background. This probably isn't an option for most users as it requires some setup and familiarity with command prompt / terminal. If you google "adb file transfer ui" there are some tools people have made to make this more accessible, although I haven't used them myself. Worst case I'd manually copy the files to my computer from my old phone, then copy them from the computer to the new phone via a USB cable. For fast file transfer speeds you'll need a 'USB 3.1 Type C Gen 2' cable. The cable that comes with the phone is very slow.

UFS 3.1 sequential write: 1200 Mbps
Even better is your S24U has UFS 4.0, which has a sequential write of 2800 Mbps.
I've heard of horror stories using smart switch, including unknown settings causing battery drain on the old phone being transferred over to the new phone.
Well what do you use instead?
@@oldmangamerlive Transfer to a laptop/pc and then transfer manually back. It's a huge pain, but the settings are pristine. Another alternative is using a cloud backup.
ok thanks@@hermanwooster8944
Use a USB 3.0 cable, would be faster than any wireless connections
I transferred 500+ GB took me about 3 hours to do tireless
A great addition to smart switch would be addition of "Predictive Text Cloud Sync" feature, which will enhance the UX by 30% for the initial 3-4 months of disturbed typing. FYR- ruclips.net/video/wSwFP4lMbMk/видео.html
Had 186 gigs to transfer and it told me 16 hours wirelessly
Left side has more vivid colors
I thought you needed a new SIM card with a new phone
I had to transfer 260gb And the wireless was actually going faster than the wired
im getting a new phone tomorrow, im going to get it done at the store. when they transfer my stuff from my old android to the new android, will they see the photos being transferred? i have a lot of hazbin hotel porn saved and I dont want the employees to see that lmfao
You will not have to customize none of that if you had a SD Card slot.. I was so ready to buy this phone. But no sd was a slap in the face. So I am sticking with my note 9 rocking 1.5 TB of total storage. Maybe they will get it right next phone.
scam alert i am sorry to burst your bubble however its a scam !!!!!
Ye it’s a scam don’t trust him
Rumor is them secure folder California videos are Jimmy is Porno 🤣

The cable that comes with the phone is very slow.
can i have the s23 plz
Guessing crypto wallets won't copy over?
didn't think of that. Make sure you got your keys! I had to an insurance claim because my screen died. But luckily I had my keys on file.
Imalways use wireless much faster
