Repaying Favors | New Mexico Elk Hunt (Amazon Episode)

- Опубликовано: 10 май 2020
- Randy Newberg is joined by his Uncle Mike Stickler on a New Mexico public land elk hunt. Randy remembers how much his uncles did for him growing up, so Randy decides to try and repay the favor by helping Mike get a bull elk.
After meeting up in New Mexico, they get a spike camp set up and set out to glass for the evening and do some scouting. The first evening they are able to glass up bulls, not far from the truck with the Leupold optics.
Hopefully they will be able to get within shooting distance of one first thing opening morning. This hunt falls in during the post-rut season which is usually the most difficult time to hunt mature bull elk. They have a couple days of scouting before the season opens and take advantage of getting to know the area, and hope that the hunting pressure won't mess up their plans once the hunt starts.

How can people not like this????.... total mystery to me ! ..... the we live in has become such a sad place with the media and politics and all......Randy and crew, thanks for sharing this with us.We need more of this kind of stuff not less.
A turd in a punch bowl. That's the Best thing I've heard on a hunting trip in a long long time. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Love this video my Dad and uncles have all passed! Cherish the good times!!!
Put a BIG OL SMILE ON MY FACE. KoDos
Family trips are the best!
Thank you Randy & Uncle Mike for showing us that -Home-Grown Family Hunts really are the,,, "Heart Beats of America" !!
Our pleasure!
Even if you don't like hunting there are lots to learn from this episode. Family, patience and appreciation just to name a few.
Randy Newberg, the Gentleman Hunter.
Randy this is one of my favorite videos you’ve done. It’s easy to see how close you’re relationship is with your Uncle. What goes around comes around and it’s just as special to him. You both made more memories together. And Big Hank might just be there for you next year!
Glad you enjoyed it
I recently lost my uncle who introduced me to hunting when I was 19. I live for hunting now because it reminds me of him and those good times. Thank you for this video. Hit home to me.
Randy... I really appreciate and love this video. As I'm watching this, I'm thinking about my Uncle Mark. My mom's brother. It's always been him, my dad and I hunting. Before this Covid-19 was an issue, I won an auction for a drop camp elk hunt at a RMEF banquet and I'm taking him... And my dad. We set it up for next year, mid September archery hunt up in the Flat Tops in CO. I can't wait to go. Can't wait to see their faces when we hear a bull screaming. Thank you Randy for everything you do and congratulations to your "Exotic" Uncle Mike. LOL!! 🤣🤣
That right there is what it is all about. Thank you for putting things back in perspective and reminding us of the truly important things in life.
I feeling exotic 🤣 love this episode.
Randy , your " uncle hunts " are absolutely choice !
They're a separate category apart from the lack luster clips that feature the youngsters .
None the less , Newberg footage is special to say the least...keep them coming .
I think this episode is one of the best!
Thank you for watching.
Your just a good human .
Randy you do have some great Uncles. We all miss occasionally and, Uncle Mike handled it well. Thanks for sharing this special hunt.
You are a good man @Randy Newberg. Not many sons and nephews do this for their Dad's and uncles.
I always enjoy watching videos where you bring an old friend or family member hunting. Those are truly treasured memories you will enjoy.
Glad you enjoy them.
That first shot was a kick in the gut. Had that happen to me last year on a big whitetail. About 280yd hunting on a powerline.
Super cool video. Thanks Randy & crew
Glad you enjoyed it
This was great. His excitement at killing a smaller bull is just pure. Joy. Thanks for sharing.
Great hunt Uncle Mike, by the way you are in great shape to be hunting in those hills. Congratulations. Thanks for sharing Randy!

Great hunt, great memories made, good times in camp. It's all there. Congrats to Uncle Mike.
Yes it was.
Enjoyed it as much as watching it the first time, especially after him realizing he completely missed that first shot. Then the second bull and thinking he missed the first shot again. Great videography Marcus.

Nope. Not this trip.
Congrats! Nice bull! Where did you get that bull in Unit 16?
Another great video Randy! Question? What brand of tent did you put your Uncle in and what brand of folding sitting pad do you use? Thanks!
That is a Hilleberg Nallo 2 GT tent, and the sitting pad is a Thermarest: bit.ly/2WmKoez
Randy Newberg, Hunter thank you sir!
I like the game bags they use - anyone know what they are?
Did you guys skull cap uncle mikes bull?
Randy you ever moose hunted with a bow
one uncle shoots the wrong bullntje other just misses
Randy what grain bullet would YOU run in a 270 to hunt elk ???
150 grain Nosler Partition in my .270 took my first five elk.
Randy Newberg, Hunter what grain would you use in a 300 win mag I was thinking about american whitetail 180grain
Nope you guys aren’t related at all. Nope nope nope. Lol. Good video.
I'd love to know what mag his scope was on when he lost the first bull. Big game I never use more than a 1x4. And almost never go higher than 3x and always have it at 2x. Imo people over scope to their great detriment for big game. Lower field of view, more perceived wobble, lower light collection, buying optic quality you don't need, problems with close shots because no low mag setting, slower follow up shots because of small field of view, extra weight on the gun, less eye relief, and on and on. I actually think a 1x3 is best for 90pct if big game situations.
One training habit I have ingrained is that after first shit I set dope to minimum mag immediately for follow up.
Mike has transition lens eyeglasses that go from single focus to bifocal. What we learned was when he got in the prone position, it changed the view through his glasses where it was harder to focus through the transition lenses. Not a good place to discover that problem. Never considered it when he was doing his sight in at 100 yards from the sitting position.
@@Fresh_Tracks That is really useful information! Interesting.
Nice video randy it would mean a lot if I u could reply to me
Thanks for watching Justin.
U should go to Newfoundland Canada moose hunting and woodland caribou hunting
