The interior has actually aged REALLY well! In an era of touch screens and flat panels, that somewhat protruding dashboard of buttons and knobs is gorgeous! 😍
I have a BMW 650i e64 convertible 2008 that I got in 2019 right before pandemic for only $15k before fees at only 51,000 miles. I absolutely love this car. Heaviest car I’ve ever driven. Acceleration is out of this world. Feels amazing. Best used car I ever bought but keep in mind getting one of these are expensive to upkeep especially in NYC. I take care of it well but it really does turn heads
@shaserdeses - I have come across an 08 Coupe with 65K Miles. Was thinking of getting it just as a side summer/weekend car however hear horrible stuff about its V8. Are they really that awful? I would put apprx 6-8K miles per year.
The N62 engine mate bmw used made for it is actually a fantastic engine. It won international engine of the year in 2002. Keep in mind a v8 is gonna guzzle gas a lot. If ur not driving a lot then you’re fine. My only downside has really just been handing tires, tire pressure and damage that can happen to the rims over time. If you’re using it just for summer then it’s perfect!
So... I foolishly traded my beloved 2002 E39 M5 on a slightly used 2006 650i coupe, it even had a rare 6 speed manual. I liked the car except for the extremely harsh 1st gen run-flats. I took it to the track twice and would frequently meet a group of E63/E64s at the Tail of the Dragon. With the torquey V8 and ARS, it did quite well, even keeping up with M3s. We had folks from NJ, FL, MS, & IL, along with myself from NC! Some upped their 6's to M6s but I soon traded to a 2008 550i M Sport with 6sp auto and no runflat tires! I preferred the 550i room and comfort with minimal sacrifice in sportiness. We continued meeting at the TOD twice a year for 5 years when several moved on to other exploits. PS: I've driven 10 different BMWs at the Dragon over the years! SO nice to be relatively close to it.
I often dream of what it's like to have roads this empty during the day without being in the literal sticks. Please appreciate how blessed you are for this. I have to wait until 10pm earliest to be able to go the speed limit without constantly cutting lanes, EXCLUSIVELY passing on the right & being an outright jerk, which is many times the only way to make it to work on time.
I've had my 2008 650i cab 10 years now, it has done just shy of a 100K km (62K miles) and as time goes by I just love the car even more. Not sure how to explain it, but when I put the roof down and take my wife for a spin we both smile from ear to ear. It's in mint condition, always parked indoors. I've had no issues with the engine, only transmission. Get one while you can!
Thanks for doing this video! N62 is such a gem of an engine (if it was taken care of). Can’t emphasize the oil change interval importance on this engine enough. It has an awesome powerband, sounds almost exotic when you open it up, and it’s so smooth. Pushes these cars down the road really well. Even if an N62 was neglected and it’s leaking and/or burning oil, it’ll always just keep running. These don’t have all of the timing chain guide, injector, carbon buildup, HPFP, and rod bearing issues that the N63 has, especially the early one. Lastly, N62 still has a dipstick and a mechanical water pump, unlike most BMWs from that era and currently.
@@RyanRoadReaper You’re right. However, if the oil change intervals were sane (5-7k miles not BMW’s 15-20k interval), they can last a long time. I know 2 people with around 200k miles on original N62 valve stem seals, and they’re doing just fine. They did maintain the car religiously.
I love the interior and powertrains of these older BMWs, aswell as the styling. The exterior styling is very subjective, some people like it, some people don’t on this carI’m not the biggest fan of it, but it’s better than most of the new cars.

I have an ‘08 650i coupe and I adore it. It’s basically a Baby-Bentley. Always loved the looks, sure it’s got a couple of weird angles but it’s all part of the character. I have the tan/aluminium interior and it’s a stunning place to be. The rear seats are usable by an adult for short journeys and isofix as standard means it’s practical. The boot on the coupe is huge. Give the engine lots of TLC and it’ll be generally reliable. The power is plenty, the car is damn quick, and I say that as a motorcycle rider. Economy is surprisingly good for such a big V8.
Honestly im weirded out. This happened with the CT5 V blackwing too. Savagegeese posted on the same day and it was completely unplanned on a car that has been out for ages.
By far the biggest bargain on the market (not this one necessarily). So thank you to all the people that think they're so expensive to own, that the price has dropped 90% from new!
I'm on my second used e64. A one owner low mileage 650i. Love everything about it! Just had muffler delete and it now sounds like a WW2 Messerschmitt going down the runway when pushing it! 🚙💨 👍👌😎

Interesting that you and Jayemm posted a video about the same car within a few hours of each other. Stop driving prices up lol! But seriously, I’ve always liked the 650i but N62 reliability terrifies me.
OMG Ted!!! I thought I am the only one who looses his nerves when he hears that warning noise! :D #ptsd since my F10 with N53 Engine has some engine cold-start issues (VANOS Errors, Nox Sensor Errors, camshaft related stuff which is common with this engine..) I simply get the cold shiver when I hear the GONG telling me it has 3 °C :D Does anyone know a way to change the sound for non-errors to something different? The 650i is killer, love that vibe and the beige leather seats

I remember liking it a lot like 10 years ago or so back when I was not a car guy yet but just a boy interested in typical boys' stuff and I remember my dad being the complete opposite saying it's disgustingly ugly. But now I can't see myself ever having one. I think if I were to get a big, luxurious beemer from that period for whatever reason, I'd go with 5 series if anything.
As much as having the E64 650i would have been nice.. I decided to play safe and go with the N52 3L as the Exxon Valdez V8 put me off.. Also went for the coupe as I live in the UK…so convertibles don’t make sense here ☔️💁🏻♂️

@@jackdoe3889 the Dynamic Drive Pack which includes hydraulic anti-roll bars and a variable ratio steering rack may sharpen up the 6-series’ handling.
