Just watched this from start to finish! 1 word, "E P I C !" just blew my mind. 🤯 It was like watching a reality TV show teaching you how to get the story, BTS of a reality TV show. 😂 LOVED It. # Inspiring
This makes so much sense. Getting the SUPER early stuff. I feel like with my 6, 8 and sometimes even my 10 hour packages I’m rushed too much to get good interview and setups. This has changed my perspective quite a bit on what I offer personally. Thanks for taking me through your day man.
@@bleach_meds599 I’d say ditch the 6 and 8 hour packages altogether. It’s a full day regardless and it allows you to make a better product with more relaxed time :)
10 years from now that sound bite Jessica gave about Melissa being her daughter is going to mean so much more to her than cinematic b roll or slow motion dress shots. Justin is putting on a materclass on what wedding filmmaking should be like

i just got my sony fx30 (my first big boy camera haha!) and it is the first step towards my hopeful future as a wedding filmmaker like you, i love your videos keep it up!!
Amazing video! Not only did you make time to mic up and set up frame for interviews, but you made time to shoot a whole damn behind the scenes youtube video!
@@JustinPorterMedia yeah, all I shoot with is anamorphic lenses, so I'm for sure gonna cop the Cato set. Trying to pair them with a S5IIX and a Komodo X. I might even be a savage and speedboost them jawns onto my GH6. I live dangerously LMAO At any rate, this is a great video! Thank you for the insight. Great tips!
Hey, I’m curious-how did you mic the girl in the second interview at the beginning? I didn’t see any cables, even behind her! Did you use a lavalier and hide the recorder under her top? anyway awesome video!
Yo! Gem. Question - i think you mentioned at one point you continue to run audio to do a j-cut, but for the bridal shower moments, if the talents are mic'd up, are you relying on internet recording on them for audio + the tascam switch from camera to boom mic? At 14:40, you have Nikon + Rx, so I'm just curious how you make sure you don't miss audio!
@@lilsouschef yes. I can use the internal recording to cut audio. Even if the moment happens way later. You can hide it with the edit. At 14:40 I was on a missing specifically to get b roll. Hugs, smiles, etc. I had 3 people micd but I wasn’t hunting dialogue. This is why I said “what can be staged, get it later, what can’t be shoot it now. Hope this helps :)
