what if I want the first text to be masked but the second picture and so are not masked, should I create another tab for it? or will it display nothing(black) entirely because of the first mask tab

Anyway when I want to change background color from white to any other color or picture (that would have low opacity so It would be barely but still visible), the making composing child just doesn't work even if I make a group of those two texts. Any help? Thanks a lot.
My question is, can you mask a certain part of a video, and make it play to where movement is not cut off, but you can see it's above another picture/video as like it had transparency? There might be a term for this, but I keep searching for a particular effect, help?
