I totally agree, I am a black cover lover as well, and I was really happy that Hobonichi had some more neutral and understated covers for their planners this year.
I went a little bit nuts with my Hobonichi purchases this year (I did an unboxing on my channel), but the main things I picked up were the navy Weeks Mega, the Black Gingham Weeks, the Black Gingham A6 HON, the regular Cousin and a few of the Day Free planners and other accessories. 2023 was my first year in the Hobonichi, so next year I am allowing myself a little more experimentation with my setup as I really enjoyed using their products.
So I love to planner switch-I love them all-so I set them up and switch whenever I want-so don’t feel like you need to apologize-stationary is fun and we love all the things🥰👍

Loved your choices. Oh, the siren call of the Hobo Weeks! I haven't caved for 2024....yet. However, I keep getting out my 2023 and looking at it (always dangerous - currently in a disbound bujo)!

I went all in on Hobonichi books for 2024. 😅 2023 was the year of switching up my TN (I had monthly and dot grid inserts) set up which was working fine from a to-do list perspective, but I felt like all it was accomplishing was getting things done. It felt like life was passing me by too quickly, so I was attracted to the idea of tying memories to dates throughout the year as a way to get me to pay attention to the little things and slow life down. I still use my TN as a glorified to-do list because I like the separation and it allows me to cross-reference things more easily. Most of my memory keeping, hobby/subject tracking, and long-form notes since I’m also in school, will happen in my Hobonichi books. I had to ignore my impulse to participate in other pre-orders because I’m also someone who would stock up on options if I could! It’s only Sept, but I feel content with my decision for 2024. I hope I still feel that way in Dec / Jan!
Ps. I had similar reservations around the glossy cover, but I was also seduced by the cats. I love it, and it’s turning into one of my favourite purchases this year! I can’t wait to use it 🥹
i feel similar about the dated dailies! they change my perspective a bit which i enjoy. sounds like you have a great system lined out

The Hobonichi prices on Amazon USA are high in the beginning, but they usually drop around like October or November

I got the same Weeks. It’s the only design in the new 2024 lineup (any size) that appealed to me. I also got a plain A6 Techo and a Weekly Calendar. I’ve used these three for several years and they work well.
I ended up with a Hobonichi Weeks in the Standard size for work and Sterling Ink Weeks for personal. With more than 365 notes pages and a weekly section, I feel like I am getting all the things I wanted from a Cousin in the size I wanted. If I get inspired by something I see, I have a few standard and passport TNs to play with for when the hopping mood strikes. I hope in 2024, you find what you love and enjoy the journey!
I'm excited to see how you use your Hobonichis! I got the botanical Weeks and an A6 Techo--same lineup I had and loved this year. I am VERY tempted by the starry cat Weeks you got, and there's a part of me that wants to be in an A5 for journaling in 2024. I'm trying to resist buying another Weeks and an A5 HON or Cousin, but I have a feeling I'll end up getting at least one before 2023 is over.
I always go back to the Hobonichi Cousin so I understand. This year I pre-ordered an A5 Sterling Ink Common Planner to try it out. But I know I can always go back to the Cousin if i need to!

After a year of jumping around and trying all the planners/systems, I found myself back in the Cousin + Weeks combo. 🤣 So I also ordered an A5 HON and the Sparklers Weeks! Weeks will be my EDC/on the go, and the HON will be my memory keeping/archive journal. I have a couple other things that I plan to use for topical planning/journaling, but I think of the HON as the book I plan to shelve at the end of the year!
OMG, I’m going through the same exact thing watching everyone opening their fun Hobonichi hauls. I caved and gave in and have two different sizes coming to me. I can’t wait to get them. I’m dying to start a new journal. I’m using an A6 this year and am very excited about it. I think I’m really going to like this size. I’ve been thinking about the pocket size for short trips but waiting on that one. I also ordered a Hemlock and Oak for my daily journal/scheduler/memory keeping book. That’s a new one this year also. I normally use Archer and Olive but am trying new companies this year. Can’t wait to get all my goodies. I’m sure I’m going to want to get right into them once they arrive. ☺️
Love your choices! I would love to see videos on your experimentation with your A5 Cousin weekly spreads and Weeks spreads. I use the Cousin as well and I ended up tucking in one of the A5 memo notebooks in the back for messy journaling, like brain dumps and morning pages. If there is something from that messy journaling that I need to reference, I made a note or brief summary in my daily pages. That way I have a record of what’s most important to look back on. Then I end up throwing away those memo notebooks after some time. But they are so thin and it gives me the feeling like I’m in one book. I don’t know that was helpful.

My Hobonichi haul was very small this year, you and I both picked the same Hon cover! I also got a regular Weeks in the yellow this year.
I’ve been in rings and hobonichi weeks, and fell out of love with rings as was getting bulky. I’ve gone into hobonichi weeks mega in the grey for 2024 and started using it now as I couldn’t wait. Although am being good with holding of for decorating it. But love it😊
Christmas in September 😂 I love all the unboxing videos on the Hobonichi’s this time of the year. Thanks for sharing yours. I have been a Hobonichi planner since 2018. New to me this year is the A5 Cousin Hon (pronounced “hawn”) with the cats all over it and the A5 Cousin Day-free. For my Weeks, I got the “Take A Look” one, with the single cat in a frame made of flowers and “Hope you have a wonderful day” on the bottom right hand side.

I'm holding strong😂😂. There is something about the Weeks Mega. I am currently back and forth between the Mega and the Spring Cousin. Now I'm contemplating a Weeks Mega for 2024 and an A6 Hon. But gosh, the Mega could be a contender for my only planner for 2024 AND I want the same designs that you chose! ❤
I got a Cousin for my work/productivity planner and a Weeks (the tiny dragon one 🐉❤) for a hobbies journal / habit tracker for 2024. I was super on the fence about the cover you got - the shiny material ultimately turned me off, but it was close! It is so cute.

I got the Navy Mega for work, as I got the Sneaker last year and it worked really well. I got the Yamazakura HON A5 too, and I got the Gingham Weeks for my personal. So almost the same as you.
I’ll be in a horizontal Sterling Ink TN for the bulk of my planning but I did get a weeks for a finance planner because I’m working towards very specific goals there that would do better isolated

I'm the same way but not just planners. Like if I don't really care for my body wash and get one I think I'll like better, I'll start using it immediately and if I do like it, then the old one is dead to me and I don't even care to finish it. So I can relate to the struggle and believe me, it was a struggle to finish out my bujo in my Moleskine notebook with their paper.
I got exactly the same weeks mega! Using cousin this year but will switch to weeks for work.

I, like you, thought I could be in the Bunny Weeks all year as my personal planner and quickly abandoned it for a passport TN bujo. Then I felt bad for not using my Bunny Weeks, so I started using it as my work planner. Then Hobonichi day came and I decided to try a Weeks Mega for next year, and now I really want to be in a Weeks for the rest of this year! So I bought a 2023 Weeks just last night 😶

that blue weeks mega is so beautiful - it's my front runner for 2024. I've been using a weeks mega for the first time this year and loving it [the form factor is just so good for me]. the cousin is sooooo tempting, but not quite enough space for my memory keeping needs, so I'll probably be sticking to my b5 bj in that regard. I love planner season, it's so fun to see what everyone's gravitating towards.
yes, there's something magical about new planner season. i'm trying to remind myself i still have a full quarter left of 2023 lol
My year has been experimenting, but it's very expensive... the weeks is what I am using for 2024 as EDC and a b6 slim grid notebook for everything else... try to avoid cross reference/duplicate info, so this last quarter I am very intentional and making sure it works.
I only bought an A6 Hobonichi Techo Avec. My Weeks is an April start and I am not ruling out getting another one.

This year I 'only' got 2 weeks planner from hobonichi ! I' m really hopping that 2024 gonna be my TN (and hobo weeks) year only ... 🤞 hopefully I wont regret it and buy a consin too lol

I also got the 'Another Night of Falling Star Sparklers' Weeks. I feel the same way about the glossy cover but the illustration was so cozy. I could not resist. I usually stick to a 3 planner/journal system every year. But I also have a box of slightly used notebooks for when I am itching for something different. I love that you are so excited to embrace the challenge of being in the HON. I am excited to see how you use it

I decided to get the Cats & Me Weeks (personal planner, all work planning is digital) and I am waiting until November so I can grab the A6 Original in English (memory keeping)! The One Piece A6 HON is tempting, but I would rather use one of my Hobonichi covers. The only cover I bought is the A6 Love It Panda one! I love the cream interior and the adorable illustrations!

I wanted the olive weeks but it sold out, so I got the gray weeks but that's all the Hobonichi I got.
I was set on using a TN next year but you just reminded me that Hobonichi has a One Piece collab coming out and now I'm conflicted 😂
I almost got the same HON as yours…so tempting and I may pick it up in the A6 English in November if I can come up with a good use for it! 😂 I ended up getting the A5 HON in black gingham. I really love it. It feels like paper, hence I see why they call it the paper series. I did purchase a black small drawer pouch and a black pocket pouch. I’m so surprised on the quality of the pouches they are really nice. The only bad thing about the black is attracts some of my dog’s hair! I’m going to try anti static spray unless someone else has a better suggestion.

I got the same starry Weeks and felt the same way about the glossy cover. 😣 I got a clear cover on cover to see if that might help how it feels. The design was just too cute to pass up! 🐱
Did the clear cover on cover help?
@@jessicar.6605 I think it helps a little because the cover on cover is not 100% transparent so it muted the look of the high gloss a little & I like that it also doesn’t feel as “slick”. I’ll have to see once I really use it more, but just in setting it up, so far so good.

What do you think about the cover material ? Do you like the hard or soft ?
I'm sure you've been asked this a 'jillian' times.. but that little ceramic(?) ghost that's always in your frame, can you please tell me if that has a specific/certain name of what it's called or how to search for one of those or where it's from, etc?? Also, I also keep seeing people unbox that beautiful shiny cat sparkler weeks one and want it soooo bad!!! But the pale blue/green minty shimmery weeks one is definitely on my wishlist!!!
