The symptoms you're describing are radiculopathy and are usually from stenosis/ impingement of the radicular nerves not the cord itself..cord impingement would cause mylopathy and balance/walking problems. Did your MRI report show any foraminal stenosis at C7/T1 levels? If so perhaps a foramenotomy could be done instead...i would certainly ask. I've known a couple people who had lumbar spine laminectomies with mixed results but its a fairly common procedure. Cervical ones are less common and because of the many muscle attachments that control neck movement are riskier from what i've heard AKA "swan neck". A second opinion is a wise idea. Keep us posted ...😉
Cord impingement “could” cause myelopathy. Doesn’t mean it necessarily will if dealt with soon enough. I had three level fusion nine weeks ago. One of my symptoms was pressure on my spinal cord which was one of the main Reasons for my surgery. I also had numbness in my left hand and paralysis of my tricep muscles. That was due to pinched nerves in my c5 to c7 segments.
Yeah...been watching ur vids bc I’m scheduled for ACDF surgery in mid april!! C5 thru t1...so 3 levels!! Had radiculopathy on left side. Started 3 years ago and ended up doing PT and rounds of shots...ended up in ER for 7 hours 2 weeks ago after doing 1 pull-up..send severe nerve pain down left shoulder and shooting thru left hand!! I was in fucking tears..and I’m cool with pain normally!! have another shot on Thursday!! But Univ of MD ortho surgeon finally advises I need surgery? I’m 44 and pretty healthy..dr says I should recover well from surgery! Trying to get positive vibes from seeing others experiences!! Hope your on right path...being from Philly helps!! Lol...I grew up in Delco!!

There's a thing called endoscopic laminectomy. Much less invasive, achieves a similar objective. Might be an option. I hope it all goes well for you. It surely is a hard time. So hang on in there.
Lots of luck to you Kim. I’m on week nine after my three level surgery. I understand the need for research. The need for my surgery was sudden. No onset, no warnings.just woke up with symptoms. I get the fear and concern. I almost postponed mine as well. I’m a guitarist, and feared waiting. I had to get my hand back. So far so good. Semmes Murphy neuro/spine in Memphis Tn. are pretty great. If that’s of interest. Seek Dr. Foley, or Weaver. All the best to you.
@@KimWright Yes indeed. C4 to C7. Four months later I’m gigging again, and back at work. I’m still being very careful. If you care to hear my noise. Look up Brian Johnson Band on fb, or here. There’s recent performances. I doubted I would ever play again. More importantly, I do hope you’re recovering from your issues. Enjoy your post very much. Very informative to others.
Please find me on Facebook or some media through Facebook messenger so that we can talk. I had the ACDF surgery just like you same exact Levels as well. I was rushed to the hospital twice in one week
I had my surgery on January 26, 2021 and I have had a lot of complications after the surgery. My left leg will go completely numb but I can’t feel it and then my left arm will do the same exact thing and I was hospitalized twice now I went paralyzed from head to toe all I could do was hear what was going on around me but not see.My newest one was yesterday on Sunday I lost all control of my legs and was completely paralyzed from the waist down.
