Nothing beats the sound of a great running 250 2 stroke!!!!
I don't know why but out of all the 250s throughout the years the kx 250 has always sounded like an open bike i.e. 500 . It's got such a deep throaty sound!! I'm not sure because I've never compared the specs but I would be willing to bet that the compression ratio is substantially higher 5han the other big 3
1996 sure does bring back memories I can't believe time went so fast sometimes I feel like I was robbed of my youth but I guess that's just the way it is time flies by

The '90's.. when the color purple on dirt bikes was all the craze.
I have a wr 500 now it's a legit 504 cc. 16 44 gearing porting head mods 40 mm flat slide from kx. Terra flex USA tire. Pink shock spring tourqouise seat. None of OEM stuff is on bike but still have in boxes. Ride in Dez in so cal. Never walked or towed back.
Thats my bike ! I want it back ! Just kidding , you guys have to admit the 250 2 stroke is the perfect mix of power and precision handling. I absolutely love mine and stomp on all my friends that ride 450 4 strokes with me at the track. They can't match it.
Love this channel and all the badass bikes so much. Pains me to know I'll never get the chance to ride any of the bikes on this channel in the condition they're in. Always flawless.

My dad has a RM250 i think it's a 1978 model that his friend used to race back in the day & won some championships with the bike still has the racing numbers on it & runs like a champ

Sr.... you're the epitome of seniors. Lol. I miss living in the Berkshires/NE. Was a great place to grow up. That being said.... You need to pack up shop, family etc. and move out here to Colorado. Many, many places to "plant your flag" and open up shop. Then you can have actual places to ride. Literally millions of acres and thousands of miles for OHV fun. Not to mention... it's the best F'ing state. Ever. Twist a grip!

I love the 90's vibrant colors with the purple/green/pink on the kx's. I love Honda too but the kx's just have a special place in my heart. First bike I ever had was a 99' kx100, I still have the bike to this day. Planning on restoring it soon and ripping it around some.

Bought a 96 KX250 in 1998 as a leftover didn't like the purple but probably the most explosive bottom end Bang of a 250 motor ever not a bad top end either that thing had some power had a lot of fun with that bike

I left this video after to go rewatch that Race from 1996 !!! man good times back then! I was still on my Kx 80 at the time of that race, being in the living room watching it on tv with my Helmet on in the house lol ! what a Dork but what kid didn't do that haha

Glad you mentioned the museum is closed, I was gonna take a ride down this weekend.
I had a 98 kx 250, it was an amazing bike, i later bought a brand new 01 cr 250, also a fast bike, probably faster than the 98 kx but it had a top end motor and the kawi had a bottom end motor but was extremely fast and handled better than my honda in my opinion.

Had a 96’ kx250 brand new and then bought a 2003 kx250 brand new. I loved those bikes. The 96’ was quicker from the factory than my 03’. I’m not sure if it was the suspension setup or what but, the 96’ handled whoop sections and rhythm sections much better. Eventually the 03’ got an ohlins fully adjustable shock makeover with springs and all and after that it was lights out.

Yeah this motorcycle is a great idea for a responseable 17 year old... but I’m not sure if I wanna go back .. used to run a 1990 cr 250.... currently xr650l but never again with an explosive 2 cycle much too much for a 47 year old man but the kids will love it
would love to see this drag race some modern yz250's hell even the older ones.. a few 500's swap riders etc... would make a great video.. keep it up, love the videos!
Oh I guarantee you Sr on the pipe with a honda or kx would smoke all the modern 4 strokes today.
I own the 98 version running perfectly and it’s just as fast as ktm 350 in a straight line but a 450 ktm is just faster, if we want it to be true or not
I have a 98 kx 250 and a 2015 ktm 350 the kx is so much more fun to ride
I had a 96 new. The blue purple tanks always were a love hate relationship...but the 96 decals were pretty cool. I was 14 at the time. Prob should of kept me 96 along with my 97 cr125

Dude there's a guy in South Florida right now in Lehigh Acres selling this 96 KX250 all original just as good as mcnasties with all OEM Plastics and he's selling it for 2500 and now I think someone could definitely make money at that price in the really cool thing is the guy has a street legal title for it and has a light kit on the front and on the rear end amount for license plate and it's really cool that would be so awesome to ride that beast on the road it's still available so I know it's a bit far for you guys but you probably make some money on that one
