    Easy and cheap Install a Flat Roof with flashing on a door, railing post, wall, shingle roof, and bathroom vent. This detailed video shows everything there is to learn about installing your own flat roof.
    Steps on how to install a Peel and Stick Rubber Roof:
    The peel-and-stick method for installing a rubber roof involves using pre-adhesive backing on the rubber roofing material, eliminating the need to apply adhesive separately. Here are the general steps for installing a peel-and-stick rubber roof:
    Clean the roof surface: Ensure that the roof surface is clean, dry, and free of debris. This will ensure that the rubber roof adhesive adheres appropriately.
    Measure the roof: Measure the roof surface to determine the amount of peel-and-stick rubber roofing material you need. It's essential to order enough material to cover the entire roof surface, including any overhangs or edges.
    Cut the rubber roofing material: Use a utility knife to cut the rubber roofing material to the appropriate size and shape for your roof. Be sure to leave an extra inch or two of material around the edges for trimming and final adjustments.
    Remove the backing: Starting at one corner of the roof, peel off the backing from the rubber roofing material. Be sure to peel off only a tiny section of the backing at a time, and work in small sections to ensure the material is aligned correctly.
    Lay the rubber roofing material: Carefully lay it onto the roof surface, ensuring it's centered and straight. Press firmly on the material to ensure it adheres to the roof surface.
    Trim and adjust the edges: Use a utility knife to trim any excess material from the roof's edges. Be sure to leave a slight overhang of material around the edges, which you can trim later for a more precise fit.
    Repeat for remaining sections: Continue working in small sections, peeling off the backing and laying the rubber roofing material until you've covered the entire roof surface.
    Finish the edges: Once the entire roof is covered with rubber roofing material, trim any excess material from the edges and use a sealant to seal the edges and gaps around the roof penetrations, such as vents or chimneys.
    With these steps, you can successfully install a peel-and-stick rubber roof. However, if you're not confident in your DIY skills or your roof is particularly complex, it may be best to hire a professional roofing contractor to handle the installation.

    Isn't it better to install the rolls from the bottom of the roof first and then work your way up? This way rain will not flow into the sheet below. I also heard these self-adhesive roll roofing can peel. I've not seen any roll roofing has 30-year warranty.

    I have a question. My old house has many layers of roofing. Where the roof meets the wall, the many layers of roof sheeting are built up so much that they come up the walls directly below the drip edge of the camelback coping.
    What is the best approach to lay new roll roofing over the existing? Do i remove the old roofing where it meets the wall under the coping so the new layer attaches to the wall well behind the coping edge or do i install the roll roofing up the wall and over the coping?
    Thanks.

It is completely drained after a rain in about 2 hours, and completely dry after 4-6 hours. What peel and stick product will work on this? Most contractors that have looked at the roof have no clue. I want to strip it down, replace any bad plywood than use a peel and stick application only, (no fumes allowed). Any advice from anyone is much appreciated. Thanks

    This is great! I'm going to do my own roof. What's the minimum pitch on the roof? Why can't you make the roof totally flat? Can you do a torch down modified bitumen roof totally flat?

    • @FlatRoofDoctor
      @FlatRoofDoctor  Год назад +1

      Yes, Torch down on a completely flat roof. On the peel and stick, the seams are not as water tight as on a torch down, therefor if it is completely flat and water is pooling on the seams, it could leak

    • @wthomas5697
      @wthomas5697 Год назад +1

      @@FlatRoofDoctor Oh, okay, thanks. I do want the roof to be as water tight as possible so I guess torch down is the way to go. I'm thinking of using some of that tapered insulation stuff to make the roof drain in the direction of the roof drains I plan to install. I'm seeing those things aren't cheap. Three hundred bucks a pop for cast iron. I guess inflation really is getting out of hand.

  • @eastside0434
    @eastside0434 Год назад +1

    None of this material is for torchdown,it is self adhering, when you overlapped the seam 12" you should have heated the top of the overlap sheet and hit it it with the trowel to embed the granules into the hot membrane and it would bond much better,but that product is not really for using a torch so one must be careful with it.

    You can't make mistakes but you haven't done anything right. You don't need asphalt primer anything that has baked in paint is the same as being primered and asphalt primer if you were doing touch down witch your not this is peel and stick. You need elastico stick primer or blue skin primer not just on the metal but on the whole roof. First on all the plywood and again on the base sheet before putting down the cap sheet. And you have to stager you base from you cap not just 3 inch overlap. You need half the roll you're first peace of base should have been an 18 inch peace then the rest would be full sheets. The lap of the base should be in the center of your cap sheet. The base should have been cut an inch and a half back from the metal and the cap flush with the metal. Good thing you have been doing this for over 30 years gives me lots of work to redo all those rookie mistakes.

    hi Flat Roof Doctor, what is the name of store you use to order material ?? I need to order material to cover up flat roof total of 3,000 sq. ft. following your instructions from video, need the karnak for concrete edge, the 66 mode bit the 32 grade drooped edge metal 3x3 in. need the turbo poly seal for flashing the fleece, the base rolls and the top surface rolls , and if you think that I need more things for my project let me know , I am willing to follow your instructions and I promise I would not fail, I have trouble with this leaking of my roof since 2005 and I think I can do it according to your Videos, Thanks so Much in Advance
