Wifi connectivity can be considered a benefit in some cases, but my thought is what if they're trying to lay the groundwork for subscription based plugins as the main focus of the new MPCs. This is speculation, but it seems there are a lot of businesses pushing towards that model.
Yup, I was tempted to include the Jura in this video for that reason but I felt it deserved it's own thing because I was HYPED to have a Juno in all my MPCs.
Thanks for good video and your opinions. I am shopping and I agree MPC One+ is a great intro into this genre. I like SeqTrak but I already have MOTIF.XF with 5,000 more sounds than SeqTrak.
ok this video got me exited about my MPCone...... just got mine and I hope to sample and/or sequence my other synth gear like my microfreak.... my monotribe.... my behringer 2600.... can't wait
Good video - organized and articulate - balanced perspective - good production values It would be good for someone who does not have an MPC. I just purchased an MPC X SE last week so I don't need this, but it is pretty cool. Question - how sturdy is the contruction? Is it good quality plastic? Does it feel solid?
on an official behringer release video they tell you they put the processor from the x in it and i watched a side by side it was loading a second or two faster than the one
Gotta say... I'm excited about the keyboard. I use it A LOT for Ableton, and it does help quite a bit. I've been hoping for an MPC One with wifi, as well.
If your using mpc one and need wifi, use a wifi ethernet dongle. If I'm not wrong, the sd slot could probably be routed internally to the ssd which if your going that route can be probably be upgraded in size.
With more RAM I would have bought an MPC One+. But with only 2 GB of RAM it's only a normal MPC One boxed in red without ethernet connection. I run into low memory ervery day using the plugins on my MPC One. So I must ask Akai: Why? It makes no sense. With only 2GB of Ram you can't sell Plugins in future.
I bought (and returned) two MPC Live MK 2 both with pad response problems. Tried every combination of pad settings but never fixed problem. Both units had most faults on lower left corner pads. Was I unlucky twice? It’s such a shame because aside from that I liked everything. BTW I have never had a problem with Maschine pads and PUSH 1 or 2 pads.
So what I've found on the MPCs is that if the surface they're on isn't super solid, then I get A LOT of pad response problems. Like double triggers and no triggers. If I put the MPC One on a raised platform that has some give, the pads suck. If my desk has a slight bow to it and the MPC has a slight wobble, pad problems. When I setup a new hardware jam and I notice the MPC wobbles slightly, I grab a microfiber cloth and put it under the wobbly side. Typically fixes it for me. But it's possible you had actual hardware defects.
Can you hook up two midi keyboards to it and assign them? Like midi 1 and midi 2 so you can play to different sounds at the same time? Looking for a live set up.
I can't believe these days, it's still about RAM and internal storage matters, being the 'big' difference between models; even in the 90's the AKAI S3000XL was extremely expensive to upgrade the MB's memory. While sampling is all about memory!!... See the joke? Can't believe it this is still the thing we should pay attention to. ~~~ here's my MPC One with only 4GB internal, read: 2GB free user space for plugins, instruments, Fabric XL etc. AKAI: just put in 128Gb or something !!!
My recommendation is to ONLY use known brands like SanDisk etc. Off brands are a gamble. And make sure you buy a card from a place that isn't selling fakes. Like BestBuy. Amazon works if it's sold directly from Amazon, but I wouldn't trust 3rd party sellers.
Two channels now. Just started this one to house all of our technical content. Our original channel will be more dedicated to our music performances and releases. We did it because the YT algorithm seemed to get confused more often than not. It'd be fine to have one channel if we did a review once in awhile, but we're making technical content weekly. So two channels 👍 ( Meems is the main editor btw )
I’ve owned the One and Live 2 and I say go Live 2. Has bigger pads, the portability and speaker are all awesome. The One is a much better lay out but I love the Live’s portability and not being tied to the wall.
Well, as someone who's been buying MPC units since 1991, I will say this, - it's certainly the ugliest MPC to date, - IMHO. And yes, I know Akai is Japanese for Red. - love to ALL, feel no hate
This is the most ridiculous and useless upgrade of a product I've ever seen. The MPC One is or was perfectly fine as is and sure didn't need to be painted red or have WiFi and Bluetooth added. Everything it needed, it didn't get, everything it got is basically useless. What is the point of that stupid thing exactly?
Just ordered mine, my first MPC I'm too excited. Thanks for the video
Good review. In some ways I'm glad it's not a massive change because it gives hope that my One will continue to be supported for some time to come.
Yeah I think you've got plenty of time with the OG One. Nothing crazy is changing by the looks of it anytime soon.
I just got mine today. Have to do some rearranging in my space before I crack it open. This will be inspiration
Another great review. A cool little box, and personally I love the red colour.
Thanks Marc!

Yeah I sincerely hope Akai stays away from a sub model. I love the workflow I currently have. A sub model could spoil that.
@@teftymusictech saving projects to cloud would be helpful
It's for those who don't have an MPC one. Those of us who had it for 3 years, our GAS meter is very low 🤣
Yup, I was tempted to include the Jura in this video for that reason but I felt it deserved it's own thing because I was HYPED to have a Juno in all my MPCs.
@@teftymusictech Jura in standalone is definitely a nice addition to the line up!
I have the MPC One but still had to get the RED one. I'm addicted. 😁
If they upgrade the memory to AT LEAST 4GB, add a battery and space for an internal nvme ssd I'd upgrade.
@@coldskoolbeatz Then why would the live exist

Oh shiiit! Just by looking at your intro I immediately wanted to buy this product!
Sub, Like, and Comment for you, my friend. THANK YOU for the NON-click-baity title that doesn't bury the headline 9mins into the video. You are a gem.
Thank you!
ok this video got me exited about my MPCone...... just got mine and I hope to sample and/or sequence my other synth gear like my microfreak.... my monotribe.... my behringer 2600.... can't wait
Congrats! MicroFreak and MPC is a killer combo.
Akai should probably upgrade the RAM, seeing as they want to keep releasing plugins for it.
They are saving that for the One ++

I use the step editor for drums quite a bit, but for anything melodic I can't imagine it
Almost a year later and no color revisions. Red only
Great review as ever ❤🔥Think I'll stick with my original MPC One for now. You may want to blur out the serial number here 5:03 and 7:42
Thanks!
If I get one it will be the ONE+… but that red color?! Ugh. I’m just going to buy a third party skin
Imma get a the mpc one + skin for my mpc one that is black
The mpc really needs to have midi clips functionality. It really the one thing that is missing that would put it in pair with ableton.

Or, you can tether your phone to get internet on the OG One.🤷🏾♂️
Thanks for this video. After One, it's Live 2's turn to evolve, isn't it? But when ?
Please make a video on how to move expansion packs from sd card to internal storage.
Who decided on that red colour, seriously 😂
People are pissed however if I was an akai person I would appreciate that they're not making the current models immediately out of date.
so non Akai plugins are a no go?
$399 by Christmas. I might consider. $299, maybe.
Thank you.
Thank You
You can hook up an IPad. I still don’t get the lack of a battery.
Does this plug in to the DAW or have it's own software like Maschine? Or is it standalone?
You can tether your WiFi connection with your phone on the OG Black MPC One with a USB cable. Lol
You can also crack the case open and install a battery
@@teftymusictech yea see! this MPC is for New Customers not people who've owned the last model lol. Ain't nothing really wrong with that. 😂
@teftymusictech Wow, didn't know that one.
I could listen to you talk forever. Hot knife, butter, etc.

they also changed the op amp used for the back lit push buttons i wonder if i runs hotter? since white is the hottest on the color spectrum.
Yup, I doubt it changes the temp. The power supply is down from 19v to 12v and 3.42a to 3a ... so some other internals have been adjusted.
Can I use this as a sequencer for my Hydrasynth?
Can you hook up two midi keyboards to it and assign them? Like midi 1 and midi 2 so you can play to different sounds at the same time? Looking for a live set up.
you can
@Akai I need one
I’m a beginner & I wanted to know is there a way that you can upload a beat to RUclips,TikTok or Instagram with the MPC?
Not at the moment. This could change in the future. But for now you still need a computer/tablet/phone to post things to socials.
It would be nice if they actually did something new. And better. New and better would be nice
Yet still NO instrument/sample streaming. If they upgrade nuthin' else, streaming is the one thing that would make this killa!
Yea not fonky enough for me to upgrade .. nice color and nice wifi to connect to splice
Hi Sir..Can i use SD card for sample library and plugins ?
Yes, it's recommended to load your content like samples and plugins on a dedicated SD Card.
What is the sample file format? Can I import stereo 24bit files via sd card?
Yes you can. 24bit will take up more sample memory, but it'll work just fine. I believe the MPCs default to 44.1khz in standalone mode.
I can't believe these days, it's still about RAM and internal storage matters, being the 'big' difference between models; even in the 90's the AKAI S3000XL was extremely expensive to upgrade the MB's memory. Do I will have all the new instruments for free, like Jura and other?😊
Only one free plugin coupon, so it could be the Jura.
I don't follow your channel very closely, but why the name change? What happened to Memes?

Its seems that one+ has a better CPU?
If it does, Akai did not say anything about it to me. So I'm pretty sure same CPU.
Bro, I know people ain't out here carrying ethernet cables when you can tether your cellphone to get internet for the One.🤔

This is not an upgrade at all. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth? Just a few gimmicky features that you do not need if you already have a One.
