It's funny how, in the first movie, Sonic is watching "Speed" and he's fanboying over Keanu. And now, we come full circle with him voicing Shadow, which is perfect casting if you ask me.
I remembered that scene while Sonic was watching Speed as he saying those words: “Keanu, you’re my treasure.” And now, Keanu is voicing Shadow for the third Sonic movie. I’m hyped for that. 😊

I played the original Sonic Adventure...the one with Chaos.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3(the game) also turns 30 years old this year.
It was released in 1994.
I remember back in 2009 when nobody wanted anything to do with this franchise. Also 2008, 07, 06, etc. What's so specific about 2010? That's when the good games started getting made.

Shadow is gonna be an amazing villain in this film, and Keanu is the perfect casting choice.
According to an interview held with the writers about a year ago, Shadow is gonna be an emotionally damaged character driven by his anger and his rage. This is a kind of villain that Movie Sonic has *never* faced before.
Jim Carrey’s Eggman will probably be the one who wakes him up since that’s who wakes up Shadow in the games. The only major characters left to cast are Gerald Robotnik (Eggman’s grandfather and Shadow’s creator), Rouge the Bat (Shadow’s close ally), and Amy (Sonic’s self-proclaimed girlfriend.)
They will pick a well-known actress to be the voice of Rouge.
As for Amy Rose... I'm sure a lot of names were looked at, but it'll be cool if Alexa Bliss was the voice! 😂🤣
She's taking a break from WWE and is basically a humanized version of Amy Rose anyway.

Fun fact there were several other actors being considered for the voice role of Shadow the Hedgehog before the casting of Keanu Reeves, such as Robert Pattinson, Jared Leto, Henry Cavill, Jon Bernthal, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Alexander Skarsgård, Hayden Christensen, Diego Luna, Tom Hardy, Johnny Depp, Jamie Foxx and Nicolas Cage.

This is probably the best casting they have made. Keanu Reeves sounds like he could do a fantastic shadow.
My only casting I didn't care for was Idris Elba as Knuckles. Only because I imagine Knuckles to sound younger like in the games/TV seires.
People were questioning Heath Ledger when he was cast to play the Joker.
It's Funny because I remember most news articles saying that Shadow was gonna be played by Idris Elba. Then they ended up completely changing it around and now he's Knuckles

Jim Carrey is coming back as Dr. Robotnik(which is awesome)...and this leaves Amy Rose, Rouge,and Metal Sonic.
Hopefully they cast the voices for Amy and Rouge well too. Metal Sonic may just be a mute character, or have a "metallic" version of Ben Schwartz's voice.
Metal Sonic is basically one of the first videogame characters that's a parody of AI, lol.

What I find funny is since Keanu Reeves shadow at some point shadow uses guns if remembers the shadow video game. And now the John Wick reference makes more sense.
This casting reveal is another good result of Sega choosing a studio that does listen to the fans to be the one that would get contracted to produce these Sonic movies and any spin-off ones from that videogame franchise. I don't think that any other studio would have even considered to look at fan casting choices and take it seriously by thinking about those choices and agree on it if those fans are asking for the right person.
I hope this doesn't also mean that Shadow will be using guns in Sonic 3, I very much don't want him to be shown as the annoying edgeloard who he would be in that movie if he uses guns in it, and he was a better character before the stupid edgeloard mandates started to happen! So I hope that Paramount keeps this balanced by having Shadow be shown hating guns because one of them was used to kill Maria. He is the Ultimate Lifeform and he's powerful enough with his own interestingly unique Chaos abilites, so why would he need guns when he can already use: Chaos Blast, Chaos Spears, and Chaos control in battles! Those abilities are a lot better and more entertaining to be seen than gun shooting is.

There’s lots of variations of Shadow. Different voice actors, different ways he was represented. If they want the BEST variation of him, it should be based off of Adventure 2’s Shadow, which the movie is based on.

This is gonna work. I’m telling you. If you see the behind-the-scenes for Toy Story 4. it was sad that he took it more serious than his live action roles. or something like that. He would keep putting his own lines and redoing his lines to the point that the people behind the booth were extremely impressed. I think he was gonna kill it at this.
