Thank you very much for your comment Maggie. I must admit, I don’t mind a bit of weeding. The Plot always looks great after it has been weeded! Kind regards Gary
Thanks Gary for all your advice. Funnily enough I was looking at my garlic today and its at the same stage as yours and I wasn't sure about harvesting (first time growing it) and now I know to leave it alone for a couple more weeks. I'm continuing to sow lettuce every few weeks and at last having some luck with peas after the slug attack. Thanks again for all your advice.
Thank you very much for the comment and the update Jenny. I will harvest my Garlic near the end of June so about the sane time you are thinking. Thanks again for the update and kind regards. Gary
Thanks Jules. I’ve literally just pressed send on a reply to your first comment with a link to that very video! Please ask as many questions as you want, I’m always happy to help. Kind regards. Gary
Next week we will be 100+ - Sunday through Friday. I'm working to protect my greens and tomatoes from that hot weather. It's typical for us to get 20+ days of 100 and over through our summer months; however, there's still lots we can grow in the heat. ( :
Hi Valorie. Wow that sounds hot and a real challenge. If you can provide some shading I’m sure that would help and water at the coolest time of the day that will also help to ensure your plants get as much water to the roots as possible. We have a few days of warm temperatures over here but nothing like you have explained. Whereabouts are you located? Kind regards. Gary
Where is the best place to buy the netting you have here? Also a question about strawberries - some have fruit, some have flowers…if I net just now I’m worried the flowers won’t get pollinated🤷🏻♀️Love your videos. Thank you ( Newbie allotmenteer )
Hi Jules and thank you very much for your comments and questions and I'm really pleased you are enjoying my videos. Like everything if you shop around you can usually pick up a bargain. I tend to buy my netting from online, typically from Amazon or eBay. There are always plenty of choices it just finding the most cost effective and best choice to suit your budget. Strawberries need bird netting because as you point the flowers need pollinating. Other veg will require much finer netting, such as your cabbages, cauliflowers etc. I have produced a video which shows which netting to use for which fruit and veg, so take a look at that and see if it helps: ruclips.net/video/EufeUuxn21A/видео.html I hope this answers your questions and kind regards. Gary
Hi Sandra and thank you for your question. You will notice that I use netting to protect my strawberries from birds so that is covered, however when the strawberries start fruiting I pick them every few days and this gives very little opportunity for them to be eaten. To be honest I lose a few but compared to how many I harvest it is negligible. Also, mulching can provide an environment for other insects and pests so I’ve never do it. I hope this answers your question. Kind regards. Gary
@sandra parker hi Sandra. I think that is the problem with strawberries, everything seems to like them. Some well secured netting might help keep the mice out. Kind regards. Gary
Thank you very much for your comment Steve and I’m pleased you enjoyed the video. Yes, I have a freezer full of orange, ginger and rhubarb crumbles. They are delicious! You’ve prompted me to make a video showing how I make them! Kind regards. Gary
