Great advice, Gary!👍 Here's a good tip to new gardeners: ask for gifts you need or desire for the garden. I ask for gift cards or specific garden related items for my b-day, Mother's Day, and Christmas.👩🏾‍🌾

Good advice Gary,I wish someone would of told me this way back in the 90’s when my first year was a complete disaster, needless to say I gave up,only for my fire to be relighted by “no dig”,that was 3 years ago and things get better year on year, still making mistakes and still learning,Cheers Gary👍

Thank you very much for your comment Mark which is really appreciated. I don’t think anyone really knows what they are doing at the very beginning however as you point out, it is very much a learning process and we learn as we go! I’m really pleased you decided to give it another go! Kind regards. Gary

Very good advice Gary, I’m entering my 4th year of vegetable growing and I've got a little better each year by reading and watching videos like yours. I agree there’s not a lot money to be saved taking everything into consideration but the enjoyment I get and the flavour of fresh vegetables far outweighs any negatives. Thanks for posting 👍

Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. I agree, you can’t put a price on the enjoyment of growing your own veg plus the taste of fresh veg is like nothing you would get from buying your veg! Kind regards. Gary

I Think it is worth pointing out that even the most eperienced of us, still make mistakes. Also we will try new things, so will spend the time on research, on the internet, on RUclips, in books.

I started early this year, I think courgettes are the easiest to grow, I’ve spent more than I saved as I’ve had to buy loads of compost, but I will have my own for next year. Berries are expensive and I think easy to grow aswell, nothing like popping into the garden to pick some and wasting them straight away.
I’ve also found my mental health has improved significantly since starting. I wanted to become more sustainable, that was my main motivation for starting this journey. X

Hi Gary, brilliant vide\o. I have\ been gardening for over 50 years and I still found this video useful. No one, no matter how experienced, knows everything and there is always something to learn. Despite years of growing, I still can not grow radish, despite the fact they are supposed to be easy. They grow fine but the roots are never round and full. I multi sow in cells so maybe they are too squashed together? Although I have seen other people growing tht way and they look fine. I wait forf the roots to fill out, but all they do is go woody. I grow cherry belle and sparkler. Any tips? Thanks for a fabulous year of videos. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year 😃🎄🎄🎄

Thank you very much for your comment which is always appreciated and I’m pleased you enjoyed the video.
I would maybe try sowing your radish as thinly as possible and see if this helps. I normally harvest mine after about 7 to 8 weeks because as you point out, they can go woody very quickly.
Each year I seem to have one crop that I struggle with despite growing them fine for many years. Last year it was spring onions. I have no idea why they struggled. They were new seeds and I grew them exactly as I had over previous years. This is all part of the fun though and I will get another opportunity soon to try again! Kind regards. Gary
