@@freshskittles92 Yeah, I think this is the thing that I wish more games had, leveling skills, rather than skills just being an on off switch, they actually improve when you invest into them. Let alone the interconnectedness of the skills.
@@schlomoshekelstein908 Okay. My statement still holds true. After not seeing Diablo II for twenty years or so… This is how my then seven year old brain interrupted the graphics.
@@garrettjohnsen You're watching it on an LCD today, when it would have been on a CRT 20 years ago. The CRT would have naturally removed a lot of the jaggies and smoothed the graphics out
@@schlomoshekelstein908 I still use a CRT. I prefer them over modern LCDs for some odd reason. But yeah, my main point being is that when I look back at old games that were remastered, typically I filled in the graphical holes where the technology of the time couldn’t. For example, when I played the Tony Hawk remake… The way that game looked was how I remembered it looking originally. Of course you go back and play the original and realize the graphics were WAY different. Just the way a child’s brain accepts it as reality, I suppose. Not sure one style is better than the other, but everyone is entitled to their opinions.
It was pretty bad with the sheer amount of people but I was getting kinda irritated cant lie lol I feel like I have to know everything about the UI on the game I'm playing so seeing him not check the potion bar and leaving skill points for 4 levels was driving me insane
Is trying to talk about literal basic UI elements actually backseating though? I can see if chat says "get exactly this go exactly here" but saying "Here's how you put a fucking potion on your belt" or "here's how you change and hotkey skills" isn't backseating.
This is how you do a remaster, you dont just update the graphics and call it a day, you update the graphics in a way that still captures the original feel of the game whilst still looking better. 10/10 cant wait to play it
I want to agree with you.. I really do. Except that the remaster requires orders of magnitude more computing power than the original. The system requirements are just way too bloody much. I loved Diablo 2 and LoD. So much so that I did what others have said was impossible. (Torch farming with a Bowa.....) and I want to play the remaster. But it is just too system intensive.
@@CreamySenpai31 the original D2 could be played with a 100 MHz processor and half a meg of RAM. The remaster requires a 2.5ghz processor and 6 gigs of RAM. That is orders of magnitude more than the original. Now. Technology has made those higher requirements easily accessible, and common. I personally do not own a PC or a standard computer. I have a cell phone, a tablet and my laptop has a custom built OS that cannot be used for games. (I designed the OS and Kernal that way.) I have also picked up D2R, on my Switch. Which is vastly superior to any computer that existed in the year 2000. (Hell most cell phones are vastly more powerful computers than anything that was available in 2000....)
This game is just a fucking classic, the music, the ambience, the characters, everything about the OG game was perfect. I hope blizzard does a good job to bring this game a second wind in this new generation. I feel guilty for feeling the hype about this remaster but tbh I just can't hold my self man, this game is just a gem !!
The remaster looks incredible. The new graphics looks great and modern, while simultaneously keeping the old feel and style which is exactly what a remaster should aim to do. My main concern is the performance though, looks a little laggy and I fear its not too optimized, if I understand it correclty the original engine is still what is running underneath.
I think the music from this game is one of the best for an rpg that I have ever played. Everytime I hear the music, I am transported back into that wonderful game.
The craziest thing about this game is it still hasn't died. Go on and play, you'll find plenty of people on the ol d2 servers. Can't wait for this it's looking really good!!

I've spent more hours on this game than any other in existence. I miss my level 98 Lightning Javazon w/ Titan's and an inventory full of P290's.... She could shred anything that wasn't immune to BOTH poison and lightning. When a legendary dropped you actually felt like you had earned it. I played from vanilla D2, when the Hammerdin was GOD, and was logged in DAY 1 for the expansion. When update 1.10 came out, I farmed for weeks to build an Enigma chest piece for my hurricane druid. I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on this game.

I thought he did fine for his first time playing the game. Maybe just turn chat off and just have a dm open with his mods if sound is good and stuff.
No he's a fundamentally careless person whose mindset revolves around always just rushing forward and paying no attention to the game world because the basic "see enemy and kill". Most people figure out potions and skills within the first 10 minutes of playing the game even as 12 year olds. Its literally insane how he can not play anything other than WoW and it also says a lot about how there are no longer any RPG elements in WoW whatsoever, because when a WoW conditioned player tries to play any game in the RPG genre this is how it ends up. Same with Dark Souls.

The best day for me, was calling my Uncle and Aunt's landline, from our own. Asking if my cousin was home, and had time to play computer all day. We played on 1 pc, but it didn't matter. It was the greatest time.
Never thought I would hear Asmongold narrate D2.
“Greetings! 😃”
“Whaddup bitch?!”
Asmongold! To be honest, I've always kind of watched a limited amount of your vids, particularly your WoW vids. Diablo 2 was the first PC game I played when I was a little kid, and it was incredibly enjoyable watching you play this game, it brings me back to when I first played it. You get my sub for this one mate, keep up the great content, and thanks for being you.
It's killing me. He's complaining about having no AoE, and has at least 7 skill points just sitting there unused.
Trololololololololololol
My thoughts exactly, this was in many ways very painful to watch looool
watching someone learn how to play diablo 2 in 2021 on a remastered version is so cool. dual wielding hand axes is the most legendary concept ever, just as everyone's first trip to the den of evil. wait until you learn about the grandfather or stormshield (v1.09) or the v1.10+ runewords to really feel it
(complains about not having aoe ability) Has multiple skill points stacked up to learn aoe ability
this was sad, took him 3 hours to play 30 minutes of content lol because he starts as barb
In true streamer form.
@@freshskittles92 Yeah, I think this is the thing that I wish more games had, leveling skills, rather than skills just being an on off switch, they actually improve when you invest into them. Let alone the interconnectedness of the skills.
It’s funny... This is how I remember the game looking.
bullshit, the game was much darker and didn't have cartoonish green grass everywhere. this looks like garbage
I don't watch every Asmon stream but this is the most I've seen chat backseat game during a stream. Beats Dark Souls by a mile.
It was pretty bad with the sheer amount of people but I was getting kinda irritated cant lie lol
I feel like I have to know everything about the UI on the game I'm playing so seeing him not check the potion bar and leaving skill points for 4 levels was driving me insane
@@nobodyshome6792 really? Like what? I reckon any mid tier pc could play this game just perfectly
(I designed the OS and Kernal that way.)
I have also picked up D2R, on my Switch. Which is vastly superior to any computer that existed in the year 2000. (Hell most cell phones are vastly more powerful computers than anything that was available in 2000....)
"Can I go in here?" /goes to health shrine
TOO PRECIOUS, YOU'RE SO NEW. AW
Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to be new to D2 again?
@@mikeeberhardt9172 i envy him getting to experience this for the first time.
@@smorholm except hes not new and he troll jebaited you all. You really think he didnt play this game as a kid?
@@smorholm He's just trolling the chat. Asmon used to be a Diablo no-lifer. He said many times that his yt channel was originally Diablo content.
He literally said multiple times he played d2 back in the day and was d3 nolifer
my mans eye brows have a soul of there own lmao🤣
"That's not a leap, that's a hop" XDD 32:03
It is funny to see newbish playing the game for the first time, because they have to clue what things are :P
It's like you getting a flashback at the first time when you was newbish aswell :)
I was addicted to D2 back in 00
When the socketed leather armor drops and he casually says "don't need that", I died a little on the inside lmao. I use to think the same thing before I understood the runewords xD
Lol, I died a little too when he said that. Def the right choice for him though while learning, to pass on stealth.
06:06 "What is this blue thing over my head?" he says as I hear the charm drop on the floor and he runs off as if nothing happened, I wanted to cry so hard Hahahaha
Asmongold duelwield looked so happy. You look like the barbarian too!
Asmon is a fucking bald necro lmao
@@HoLoCraftMoDz He is not a necro, but his skeletal summon. No hair and weights like a feather.
I saw Asmongold in one of the chat room lobbies when the US servers were crapping out a gain last night. Diablo chat was cool as always even with the problems.
Cant wait, still play the old version from time to time, one of the best games to exist.
Did he continue to play? I can't find more vods
Nope

Watching asmond play this for the first time with no prior knowledge made me hurt
Someone had to say it! Talk about cringe… how did he never play this
I got instant goosebumps as soon i heard Decard Cains initial " Good day" .
I've played Diablo 2 in the past and watching a new player play this game is amazing it's so enjoyable to watch especially this man's reactions!
LOL! 'you have cleansed the den of evil.' - Akara 'you're welcome.' - Asmongold 'you've earned my trust.' - Akara 'thank you.' - Asmongold 'you may yet restore my faith in humanity.' - Akara 'that probably will not happen.' - Asmongold
I would never thought Asmongold has no ideas how to play D2... Amount of amazing loot he just missed. Damn.
This game took my middle school years. Best ARPG ever

The first few seconds, when i heard the background music, i knew i was home ;)
TBF, its only really competing with Starcraft remastered, since im sure no one really wants to acknowledge Reforged as a remaster of 3. Im just glad they didn't fuck up this one
Two out of Three ain't bad. WC3 though now that I consider it may be the most heinous. I can still play Diablo 2 and old BW if I want to.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. This is just the alpha after all, they have plenty of time to screw it up. Still hoping for the best though.
my heart broke a little when he said "WHO IS AKARA"
Dude! It's oddly great to watch someone play this game for the first time! One of my favorites when I was younger!! The looting! The pvp! Would be great! Keep on doing your thing dude😁!
approaches Health Shrine: "Can i go in here?" rotfl oh, my sides pls have mercy
Man, I remember when I discovered how OP those chipped gems are in weapons. Gave my merc a 3 socket bow with poison gems and she carried me so hard.
An XP shrine right next to the Forgotten Tower? A speed runners wet dream and he walks right by it lol
it hurts my soul that he throws things on the ground instead of selling them, and leaves stuff like charms and gems on the ground.
You dropped a charm back in a1 q1 just outside camp @ 6:11 you can hear the sound of a charm hit the ground when you kill the imp... you should go back and get it those are pretty valuable.
He's never played D2? It's def a game for him. Grinding for loot in randomly generated dungeons is too fun. Hours fly by.
Nah, there's no mounts.
Bro when you were fighting that epic mob you had me laughing hard as hell..These guys are fucking hard im getting stunned 😂😂
Ok i suffered a "berenstain effect", i thought Tristram was called Tristam
Edit: i am assumings by asmon expressions at the beginning of the video, he had never played diablo II before
MMMMMMH 😋, fresh meat!!!
Lol feel like it may be because back then we always just said trist. Good ol' days grinding trist runs
That's unique to you. I always thought it was Tristram.
Yo mr.elitist he stated multiple times that he played d2 before

after watching Asmon play I'm starting to question his fabled POE skills he talks about lol
@@freshskittles92 Maybe you struggled more with d2 because you... played it first
Did they recreate the lobby system? Wondering how the multiplayer will figure.
Watching asmongold play this reminds me of the first time i played it, clueless as fuck and had no idea about anything
I thought he did fine for his first time playing the game. Much as I don't like back seat gamers in chat, Asmon has a freaken brain hemorrhage every time he tries something new it's really freaken weird. He needs to relax sometimes.
'This game is easy'
You sweet summer child
Haha this was great watching someone play for the first time. I love it man. The whole time I was like, "spend your skill points so you can hit things better!" lolol
I was screaming through the screen “use your skill points bro!” Lmao

"i'll be buying the remaster because it will be way more compatible and faster/look better etc ofc, but i dont expect anything more than the original gameplay."
Indeed and neither should anyone, I really hope they change as little as possible, and the things they do change, like auto gold-pick up, can be toggled on/off so far, so they have already shown that they truly care about the OG playerbase that will absolutely tear them to shreds if they make it not feel like the original.
Never played yet but seems like he’s not using all his abilities and not putting them to right click and 1/2/3/4
DOOD this stream was amazing thanks for the good nostalgia. Seeing you play it for the first time was refreshing af.
✌
Well, finally a D2R stream that doesn't rush through the game and actually shows the stuff.
All the diablo 3 kids are gonna be like what? I have to edit my stats??!
Your defense drops to 0 everytime you run if you walk instead it doesn't, so its important to walk instead of running away when surrounded by groups of enemies at close range
As someone who didn't understand that they had social anxiety, this game was my safe space in middle school. There's something wholesome about watching someone play this game for the first time.
Except its not his first time and hes just pretending
Hope you're doing good now Znap.
I think literally every person on earth has social anxiety.
31:00 weapon mastery and attack rating, you can pretty much run the first act as bard with mace mastery and basic attack
I haven't really played that many games in my life, so witnessing Asmon play a game that he knows nothing about, and I know back to front, is a strange experience.
Edit - it's incredible how true to the original the game remains. The developers actually kept to their policy when they said 30% new, 70% original.
