I used to go to my best friends house regularly, lugging my giant desktop pc. We would play tf out of Diablo 2. The D2LOD then D2 Ancestral Recall. And I mean for hours. Get to his around 3:30, first day we get forced to bed around midnight, get back on at 1am play until around lunch, go do some touching of grass like riding quad bikes, making bows and shooting them list goes on, then more d2 until it's time for me to go home around 6pm Sunday. Then Dark Alliance came out on gamecube, played that completely, then Dark Alliance 2 came out same deal. We did try other d2 overhauls. Another game we played a lot of was Battlefield 2, was a beast at flying he was a God on the gunner seat of either attack helo or transport, and final one ill list was Warcraft 3, mostly custom games, main one was the 40k TD, gem TD was another miss those days and those TD games
I remember pre expansion everyone played Whirlwind Barbarian with a rare Lance, Martel de Fer, or Bec-De-Corbin and an Ornate Plate (this was before elite items existed) The Martel de Fer was especially good because it was 3x2 instead of 4x2, so a rare could be rerolled in the cube with 6 Perfect Skulls (these were currency before runes). Rerolling with this recipe did not decrease the ilvl of the item as it does now (it was nerfed).
I'm not sure if I even used runewords whenever I played classic Diablo 2. It's not like the game has recipes you can find ingame. You have to look online; otherwise, you could never know they were in the game.
@ makes sense! But yeah I’m not sure what they expected with the runewords. Maybe they expected people to play around to discover the recipes. Or they just knew that recipes would be published online quickly enough. I feel like the original D2 manual had some cube recipes. Back in the days of manuals.
I was one of the players who played both pre-LoD and patch 1.07 since I didn’t connect to battlenet. I remember the game being so wildly frustrating before LoD and then HUGE quality upgrades with runes, characters and all that. What REALLY blows my mind, however, is that we are STILL playing the exact same game today, with a new coat of paint. Blizzard still has not figured out how to replicate, and iterate on this premise. Just goes to show you how great this game truly was/is and with the new D2 reimagined mod, it’s even better than ever.
I played Diablo 2 in the stress test before it was even fully released, when the only class you could play was Barbarian and the only gems were chipped rubies. (I think, I can't fully remember on that last one)
Blizzard can’t figure out *Itemization* is what made D2 last 24+ years. Diablo 4 is memberberries because it is a bland and boring copy without understanding the multiple currencies were tradable and could serve as upgrades (pgems to reroll GC, crafting gear with runes & gems, upping normal to exceptional or even to elite versions.)
From all of my D2 memories the one that stands out the most is still just the basic demo that came with PC Gamer or so, Barb in the Blood Moor. That was all. I remember putting that weapon in the offhand and that was it. They had me hook, line and sinker.
I remember the valley of haradrim was great for early farming. sure you only have to enter the specific temple to do the quest.... but you can also clean the whole valley and get some nice loot in the process
They stole it from Mousepad's maphack. Mousepads maphack had a lot of quality of life improvements besides just revealing the map that the devs eventually added a ton of as official updates
Loot filter is for lazy rushers who can't stop for a moment to look whats on the ground. What they should do is have an option to have short names for potions and scrolls that really clutter the screen. Also elitepacka drop way too many potions in general..
Valk Wings with FCR, Shae runes, early bugs… that nostalgia, bro. “I was there Gandalf” Okay, the MF ritual should have been known earlier. How much fun would this have been…
1.09, for me, was peak D2. Cows were amazing, uniques:runewords was in a great spot, and bnet had enough chaos to make interactions a total joy. Spent countless days worth of time on this game. But 1.10 caused so many issues with reworks, synergies, cow nerfs, a lot of my friend group lost interest after. We still play every now and then today, but nowhere near like we did in 1.09.
Truly, the most fun I’ve had playing D2 was D2R Ladder season 1. The nostalgia of my favorite childhood game with some refreshing changes like TZs, the ability to be a FOH paladin, The community was huge, and most importantly, I had real life friends and family to play with. Compared to the 1000s of hours I played back in the LOD days, I truly believe that was peak D2
its insane how much 1.10 actually changed the game. ruined pre patch chars with no reset to stats deleted tons of bugged items from the server while also creating the zod bug at the same time changed tons of items added tons of runewords that changed currency from 290s and sojs to runes and the most important corrected the spelling of berserker axe
Lost so many players from that patch. No more cows, bowzons, ts, orb, ww, all got nerfed. I still played but it def took an adjustment .... Before 1.10 will always be peak Diablo 2
One thing I really miss, was bartering to trade. Back when you'd offer a whole trade window of random stuff for a really good item. Before sojs got duped into oblivion and any good item cost 40 sojs, but even that was memorable. Oh and I miss Oculus rings a little bit.
The best D2 Era was the pre 09 rust storm patch when the ITH's and bugged items were everywhere. I honestly loved running dual ITH CB's With 6 sockets 5 4015s 1 eth rune on a frenzy barb. Bugged Arcane Valor with 4 sockets with Havoc Jewels, and the white ring and the occy ring. Yes it was busted, but it was so much fun. Honorable mention to the Bugged Tals and 7015 charms on a es Sorc with nearly 4k life and 7k mana and max DR
ITH runewords -- imagine a grief with 6 open sockets Example of an "ITH grief 240ias" -- Now imagine an ITH grief with all the sockets having 6x 40/15ias jewels Agreed. Best time I had playing D2- the OCCY rings was peak (rings with the Occulus orb stats)
@@test-rj2vl that’s the best way I can describe it, Coooley has old ass videos that cover exact details on how it was performed but as a player at the time that’s what I’d say it looked like, as if you cleared the slots but kept the rune word. As you can imagine dual wielding on a barb led to some fun results.
Hands down 1.09 was my favorite era in d2 before all the overpowered runewords were added to the game. The runewords changed the game completely and forever. Especially Enigma killed the exploration part of the game totally.
Found your channel a couple hours ago and I already finished your diablo 2 video playlist and am craving more. RUclips finally recommended me something worthwhile. 👌
The original version was tough as F and in the same time we had almost no knowledge regarding everything. My first character was a physical spearzon, I managed to bring her to Hell on single. I was 16 and we were not able to play the game online. (without arreat summit it was even thougher) This version bringed so much fun and challenge to me! In my opinion: 1st "original" 2nd and Actual D2R and Lod last version simultanously (20k+ hours minimum in D2 world)
D2 was wild when you were playing with a barb and then an ob knight in the chaos sanctuary hits you with iron maiden in mid swing and you off yourself.
It’s crazy because I remember all of this. Before LoD, 1.07, 1.08. When they introduced runewords. Then I didn’t play until 1.13c or something and came back to confusion.
Used to love static before the nerf, level 1 used to hit most of the screen and was just ridiculous. I hated that boss that was near the inner sanctum way point who would kill you while you were loading up. And very fast sorceress was just so much fun. I remember my first proper sorceress fondly and still have to use the same name. When you hit the mid 20s the power jump was noticeable. The fun of Teleport, static, run, orb, telekinesis up the loot, teleport etc etc
I started around 2002 and both 1.09 and the huge 1.10 update were fun, but getting some of that 1.07 flavor into d2r would be cool even if it's just for an event and the items are temporary and expire at midnight, I'd still search for them
When you were asking “what was the most OP sorceress skill?” I kept saying, “Charged bolt, charged bolt, charged bolt” Dude; Charged Bolt was stupid powerful.
@@Duocek Dude Static Field on classic is insane. It's not capped in Nightmare and Hell like it is in Expansion. You can bring Diablo down to like 1/5 life in just a few seconds. Monstrous.
@@ArchangelsBookClub Static damage also used to be affected by conviction because it is lightning based, meaning that sorcs used to be able to kill entire screens of enemies in 4-5 casts regardless of how many players were in game.
I love how you continue to create new and engaging content for Diablo 2, a game that is over 20 years old and most of us think we know everything about.
Coronets, tiaras and circlets were insane in 1.07 and a bit up. They were abundant and many times spawn with skills and other goodies. Not that they are bad now but are more rare to get out of monsters before they were very common. Anyway i like completely something different when once upon time you can spam as much hydras or orbs as you like (meteor or any skill does have delay now doesn’t had before) it was beauty. Of course hydras has at level 20 something like 50 dmg per fire bolt but have them full screen was something magical.
it's so weird, because i was like 5 when i remember watching my dad play diablo 2 for the first time and so many things seemed so much different for him than when i started to play it myself years later. I remember him killing the barbarians and putting multiple skill levels in, only to do it myself years later and only get one. I just chalked it up to remembering it as a kid incorrectly, but it really was different. Great video.
1.08 - late 1.09 was possibly one of the best time frames, and that was without people knowing all the calculations they know now fcr, ias, etc. once everything changed over currency wise from sojs to runes and bots started taking over and flooding the market on any of the good uniques in the game and runes the seasons were basically over after 1-2 weeks
I just played the 'warchest' version that had D2 + Lod + strategy guide but was probably obsolete by the time I got it. No internet meant I just was bumbling around with my assassin chopping things. Never did anything harder. Now I have a lvl 80+ frost arrow amazon and part way through Hell difficulty.
Need more nostalgia content if you have the time. It's always great! I want to see pictures or videos of colored ornate plates before they went vibrant. V1.08 or before. On a barb ofc.
That first play through experience I had of this game coming off the back of diablo 1 was so incredible. I mean if you ever wanted to see the most ridiculously spec'd necromancer you e ever seen in your life, mine was it. With points in ever skill and nothing specialized. However It was fun crashing games with my 60+ minions 🤣. I don't wish for them to turn back the clocks but I do wish they would listen to the fans of D2 and implement some of the legitimately great ideas that would bring people home. Great vid man. Thanks
life leech used to work in pvp , zeal battles were practically endless because dual leech rings, pretty sure baranars star was even semi viable for a time
I remember 1 or 2 days before offical LoD Launch 2 people of my guild already owned a LoD copy each and were able to log into the battlenet chatromms. I think they even were able to create an Assa and Druid but their avatars were not shown the correct skin for druid or assa. But if you moved over their avatar it said druid /assa :p
the "Other Multiplayer" lobbies full of hacked characters. People be in Rogue Encampment as a fetish and soon as you walk outside of town for a duel INSTA RIP with no attacks done. Shit was just...cool back then. Good Ole Hero Editor.
Probably 1.09 was my favorite, all the cruels XX of quickness or the quarks weapons. White/occy rings, Ith weapons, Btals. Shaft/Gaze/WF zons were an iconic look. If you had an Eaglehorn, you were broke.
1.09 was the best in a way. I played almost only SP, and back then, mostly S/S WW. Had a Doombringer and a cruel CB, and boy did my prized 90+ baba turn to shit with 1.10. Especially the a5 vipers were dreadful. But, got better gear later on, now my best char is a self-found Infini light sorc. Took an admirable amount of chest runs, that! Now, I think the increased difficulty was for the better, overall.
playing a trap assassin on US west when white rings were the norm was a pain. Kept getting called a hacker for name locking and casting traps and mindblast 3 screens away. Was so hard to find a decent pvp pub room too. Clan GI had some cool guys but the amount of wealth some players there had was insane kinda hard to match for someone who didn't bot 24/7, or at all. Had good memories with this game, even after all these years
Late v1.08 through entirety of v1.09 was legitimately the fucking GOAT era of all time for any Diablo game and I will die on that hill. EVERYBODY can get this smoke if they disagree.
Played POE but joined the Army and took D2out the box, failed some builds but got 3 lv90+ in HC offline. The "new/normal" D2 most people are used to online I skipped and joined ressurgence HC server. Love the old no patch stuff.
My favourite time as a PvP player was during the first ladder season of 1.10 but I played non ladder so we didnt have most of the really broken runewords. No grief no spirit no infinity no insight. Ebotd or insane rares were top melee weapons EDC was good too. I played a lot of 08 09 and 10 versions of D2. I had a cube full of insane rare rings and accidentally transmuted all of them into one. I had a few of the insane duped I assume 1.07 crafted skill amulets as perms in 1.10. I remember an assassin running cows died and got with inven stacked thus popped dropping all their gear on ground and I got one from that.
I bought D2 the first day it was launched here in Finland and I still remember the feeling when i first entered the Blood Moor. What a perfect game it was and still is. 💪
I swear I remember my friend made some runeword that doesn't exist with Shae Ral Tal Tal in a Poleaxe or something, and I was always wondering how he knew how to make that runeword, and he said confidently that, "It's like music. I just played the notes."
I remember the days when 3perfect skulls could buy you an SOJ. I miss the classic necro build it was silks armor and wormskull it gave a nice black evil and bluish shine to the necro and every necro had that setup. Good ol days. D2 rune works in LOD took a lot of the fun out of grinding uniques as rune words like greifs, fortitude breath of the dying, enigma just destroyed uniques. I renenber always using a full sigon set during early lvling. Also I remember that selling SOJs to the merchant over a several times would spawn uber diablo randomly and public alert was sent and you would try to figure out which server it is and start or join a game to face the diablo.
Right? I distinctly remember a badass rare sword for my barb that had at least cruel on it, if not fool as well. All I remember for certain is that it was called Death Mar Balrog Blade.
My d2 pvp sorc in 1.08 was max charged bolt and tstorm. One shotted most with tstorm while teleporting around but could also teleport right in front of a guy and shoot a lvl 40 charged bolt in the face
I member playing original D2 (withoute lod) and died 17 times to Hephasto Armorer on nightmare because he spawned with: enhanced streangth, fire + fanaticism lol. First death was during the fight with him and other 16 was me trying to get the corpse. From the other hand Diablo himself I killed first time no problem lmao. Hell difficulty... was sth else man, I coulndt get to blood raven and ofcourse I was playing the barbarian. Best times of my life ;))
I think 1.09 was best version we had, yeah kinda sucks we didn't have synergies, but with 1.09 we got new runewords but they still haven't taken over the game like now, and there were few other changes that made the game better. I don't recall when immunities on Hell were introduced, pretty sure that wasn't a thing in D2 vanilla, think that came with LOD 1.07 Also, lot of people who never played Diablo 2 on release don't know emember that it was actually tough game. Skill trees were different, we had no charms or jewels, no perma-merc (they did not transfer between chapters, couldn't carry equipment and if they die, they died permanently), no mana at vendors making spellcasters lot harder to play, no elite version of items and with that no elite uniques and sets, and sets were completely different. Lot of uniques also had different stats. Oh and Druid absolutely sucked, he was like poor man's version of Necromancer (who was better because he had Summon Resist), his elemental skills were trash and only viable option was to play werewolf\bear form. He's miles better now and actually viable because his elemental skills got physical damage and zoo got buffed (for starter you can actually have bear and wolves at the same time). There was also something with unique, but I could be wrong here, think only one unique could drop in the game but they had no stat requirement, just level. However I might be mistaken about them, so don't quote me on this. Also I remember how PISSED people were when D2 was announced and Blizz said that each character will be unique and have their own skill tree. People were legit pissed because they loved spellbook system of Diablo 1. "It will ruin the game!" people cried.
This was a great nostalgic video for me man. I played d2 for 20 years or so. The good ole 1.07 days 08 days. and the zonfire hero editor on open bnet doin mock pi builds. wish it was still around. patch 08 was the best.
Originally the idea was that a Zod rune would grant +1 to all skills. Also the rouge used to change skills based on plus skills items. She could even get Diablo lighting hose.
I played a lot of D2 1.09 Fury Within. You had new tipes of gems, they highest rune was Sky Rune +1 all skills, Secret Diablo the Elder and...omg the frozen giants who could kill you off the map when they were stomping the ground. I also played the Rising Sun mode, but Fury Within was sooo damn good.
its wild how close to perfect diablo 2 is. i swear to god, with just a few tweaks like the powerful crafting in this video. remove level difference from attack rating and instead make each lvl give you like +2 to base mele damage. and swap a high lvl rune modifier with teleport to open up new armor possibilities. nerf spirit so other shields become viable. fix some synergies. the possibilities become crazy...
1.00-1.03, half of skills not working, game was much harder, uniques and sets was poor and hard to find, no runes, weak gems, Seis stealing items, 640x480. But it was super fun playing it,specially on LAN. It was super cool after a lot of time in D1. thx Cooley.
wow man. This was amazing trip down the memory lane with a huge surprises. Back then the internet wasnt such accessible so many of us didn§t have a clue about any of this. Thanks man, I enjoyed this very much!

@@93Beefcake there's never been more viable builds. Up until 1.10 you could have an orb/nova sorc, titan zon, gf ww barb or wf zon.
@@93Beefcake just no to splash. its not a remake . play d4 instead.. theres enough splash bullshit.
I liked version 1.00 1.03 where "Greater Mummy" (Unraveller etc..) could speak. Good immersion right there.
I remember pre expansion everyone played Whirlwind Barbarian with a rare Lance, Martel de Fer, or Bec-De-Corbin and an Ornate Plate (this was before elite items existed)
The Martel de Fer was especially good because it was 3x2 instead of 4x2, so a rare could be rerolled in the cube with 6 Perfect Skulls (these were currency before runes). Rerolling with this recipe did not decrease the ilvl of the item as it does now (it was nerfed).
or you would see bonesnap and steeldriver used a lot too
Yup, wish we still had these ww hit checks in d2r
Also remember mace class implicit was 150% increased to undead, not the current 50%
i used bloodletters till 08 and got duel grandfathers.
there were also magic cruel col sword we crafted with chipped gems
I LOVED the monster and item tints in 1.07. They were more gradient and realistic imo instead of the aggressive colours you got in later versions.
I'm not sure if I even used runewords whenever I played classic Diablo 2. It's not like the game has recipes you can find ingame. You have to look online; otherwise, you could never know they were in the game.
There were no runes in classic Diablo 2. Or am I misunderstanding your comment?
@@kapitan27 Even in LOD? It's been so long, I don't remember.
@ They were introduced in LOD. But I’ve always understood “classic” to mean non-LOD. The original before the expansion came out. Maybe I’m wrong.
@@kapitan27 It probably does, but I meant pre-resurrection.
Azurewrath Crystal Sword was my first ever unique in D2. Even remember where I got it. Arcane Sanctuary. I'll likely never forget that.
One of my favorite relic items, great to dual wield early on.
Making runes in orange text was a very subtle yet great change they did too. And any day now they'll add a full loot filter..
It could be any moment..
They stole it from Mousepad's maphack. Mousepads maphack had a lot of quality of life improvements besides just revealing the map that the devs eventually added a ton of as official updates
Aaaany time now, don't worry next season
Loot filter is for lazy rushers who can't stop for a moment to look whats on the ground.
What they should do is have an option to have short names for potions and scrolls that really clutter the screen.
Also elitepacka drop way too many potions in general..
@@akse loot filter is MMO tier stuff that stole the charm from ARPGs.
Valk Wings with FCR, Shae runes, early bugs… that nostalgia, bro.
“I was there Gandalf”
Okay, the MF ritual should have been known earlier. How much fun would this have been…
Surprising they were able to keep it secret for so long lol
1.09, for me, was peak D2. Cows were amazing, uniques:runewords was in a great spot, and bnet had enough chaos to make interactions a total joy. Spent countless days worth of time on this game. But 1.10 caused so many issues with reworks, synergies, cow nerfs, a lot of my friend group lost interest after.
We still play every now and then today, but nowhere near like we did in 1.09.
My favorite version of D2 was 1.09 because the Guided ArrrowZon was freaking broken and OP as hell. I played a lot of Bnet back then.
Charged Boltress was my favorite starter lightning build
Truly, the most fun I’ve had playing D2 was D2R Ladder season 1. The nostalgia of my favorite childhood game with some refreshing changes like TZs, the ability to be a FOH paladin, The community was huge, and most importantly, I had real life friends and family to play with. Compared to the 1000s of hours I played back in the LOD days, I truly believe that was peak D2
You circling Shako giving you 40% life unleashed a flood of memories lol you are a gifted content creator Cooley!
its insane how much 1.10 actually changed the game. ruined pre patch chars with no reset to stats deleted tons of bugged items from the server while also creating the zod bug at the same time changed tons of items added tons of runewords that changed currency from 290s and sojs to runes and the most important corrected the spelling of berserker axe
I mainly play Resurrection, but sometimes in the early stages of Classic Ladder, I get together with members and have some fun :)
What was special about ith? I only joined at 1.11 patch.
@@test-rj2vlkeeps the rune word but also let’s you put whatever you want into sockets.
@@nikkof5384 How did it work? Did it clear the rune word? Like tp + hel?
ITH runewords -- imagine a grief with 6 open sockets
Example of an "ITH grief 240ias" --
Now imagine an ITH grief with all the sockets having 6x 40/15ias jewels
Agreed.
1.08 and 1.09 were by far the best and funnest for pvp. Hell cows to get to 99 easily, bugged / duped items. It was sooo much fun
Hands down 1.09 was my favorite era in d2 before all the overpowered runewords were added to the game. The runewords changed the game completely and forever. Especially Enigma killed the exploration part of the game totally.
What a time to be a 13 year old with a PC.. thanks for taking me all the way back! Honestly loved every second of this.
Found your channel a couple hours ago and I already finished your diablo 2 video playlist and am craving more. RUclips finally recommended me something worthwhile. 👌
I need everyone to know that i correctly guessed charged bolt was the OP one
4:52 the ED looks bugged here. That number in that base should be more in the 1200 defense range.
It’s crazy because I remember all of this. Before LoD, 1.07, 1.08. When they introduced runewords. Then I didn’t play until 1.13c or something and came back to confusion.
i did not know diablo looked so good now, im still used to retro graphics from when i alst played it lol
Playing D2 patch 1.09 with my two neighbours was my golden era
Used to love static before the nerf, level 1 used to hit most of the screen and was just ridiculous.
I hated that boss that was near the inner sanctum way point who would kill you while you were loading up.
And very fast sorceress was just so much fun. I remember my first proper sorceress fondly and still have to use the same name. When you hit the mid 20s the power jump was noticeable. The fun of Teleport, static, run, orb, telekinesis up the loot, teleport etc etc
Excited for new pd2 season where I can actually craft those 3 socket armors, helmets and 6 socket weapons
I started around 2002 and both 1.09 and the huge 1.10 update were fun, but getting some of that 1.07 flavor into d2r would be cool even if it's just for an event and the items are temporary and expire at midnight, I'd still search for them
I remember the days with constant teleport thunderstorm sorc in duels. PvP was a MUCH bigger thing back then, it was THE end game.
the last patch before synergies 1.14b i think it was, that was the golden era d2. Every class was in the Hell 8 player cow levels destroying.
I got the battlechest around 2004 as a gift and i played D2 for up to 2012 or so. I would play that nonstop almost evrryday.
I recall the bug with Marrow Walks applying level 33 bone prison to skill tree - made for an extremely OP bone nec
When you were asking “what was the most OP sorceress skill?” I kept saying, “Charged bolt, charged bolt, charged bolt”
Dude; Charged Bolt was stupid powerful.
Static field, wtf % dmg to bosses at lvl 1
@@Duocek Dude Static Field on classic is insane. It's not capped in Nightmare and Hell like it is in Expansion. You can bring Diablo down to like 1/5 life in just a few seconds. Monstrous.
@@ArchangelsBookClub Static damage also used to be affected by conviction because it is lightning based, meaning that sorcs used to be able to kill entire screens of enemies in 4-5 casts regardless of how many players were in game.
I love how you continue to create new and engaging content for Diablo 2, a game that is over 20 years old and most of us think we know everything about.
I have version 1.00 on a original CD. I cannot imagine the kind of broken things you can do with that version of the game
I have never seen those runewords before, great content!!
1.08 with the Buriza do Kyanon (spelling off) and amazon's guided arrow was some of the most fun I've had
Never had i had to pause so much in a video to read all the stats
I just played the 'warchest' version that had D2 + Lod + strategy guide but was probably obsolete by the time I got it. No internet meant I just was bumbling around with my assassin chopping things. Never did anything harder. Now I have a lvl 80+ frost arrow amazon and part way through Hell difficulty.
I have 1.07 on CD. Gawd, the good ol days! fav version/mod - 1.09 - ZyEl mod
Need more nostalgia content if you have the time. It's always great! I want to see pictures or videos of colored ornate plates before they went vibrant. V1.08 or before. On a barb ofc.
I would absolutely love to see more content about earlier patches
love that nostalgic music you add in there. i remember those days of D2... that excitement when expansion came out was unreal
I remember when meteor could be spammed. And did not have a long cool down. Shit was fire.
Yes and every baal run people were spamming in the chat "pls no meteor or game will ceash" haha
I remember people spamming Frozen Orb and causing the game running at 1 FPS
Man playing Diablo 2 LOD back in like 2001-2003 was some of the best gaming days of my life.
This is awesome I played since d1 and just got the devilution hellfire mod loving people still online playing D1 it warms my heart
i played D2 for about a whole decade when i was a kid/teenager. this brings back so many memories
I still miss that look, Btals smiter str bugged wep sheild... the animation without the shield/wep always made me rock solid..
Had good memories with this game, even after all these years
You asked me what is my most fav Diablo Version?
Diablo 4. It ends my unholy love for Blizzard once and for all.
Late v1.08 through entirety of v1.09 was legitimately the fucking GOAT era of all time for any Diablo game and I will die on that hill. EVERYBODY can get this smoke if they disagree.
Just before synergies were added, it was the purest form of the game
Played POE but joined the Army and took D2out the box, failed some builds but got 3 lv90+ in HC offline. The "new/normal" D2 most people are used to online I skipped and joined ressurgence HC server. Love the old no patch stuff.
Pre-nerf Valyrie Wing was rampant early ladder seasons and was worthy so much.
I miss my wizardspike gloves 😂
I bought D2 the first day it was launched here in Finland and I still remember the feeling when i first entered the Blood Moor. What a perfect game it was and still is. 💪
I swear I remember my friend made some runeword that doesn't exist with Shae Ral Tal Tal in a Poleaxe or something, and I was always wondering how he knew how to make that runeword, and he said confidently that, "It's like music. I just played the notes."
like ye played classic song's courses ? That would be cool.
i spent a lot of time in lod during 1.08/1.09, i had a lot of fun pre-synergies, i felt synergies restricted what was viable for many classes.
1.08 barbarian with fury Balrog blade destroyed.
Right? I distinctly remember a badass rare sword for my barb that had at least cruel on it, if not fool as well. All I remember for certain is that it was called Death Mar Balrog Blade.
I like these videos way more than the PvP stuff. I hope you keep making them!
I played Diablo 2 LOD back in the days, but only hard core.... life was hard..
Best times of my life ;))
How things have changed. I haven't thought about these changes in almost 20 years.
The Great Hauberk with 35 Def was made using Jamella's Editor.
I think 1.09 was best version we had, yeah kinda sucks we didn't have synergies, but with 1.09 we got new runewords but they still haven't taken over the game like now, and there were few other changes that made the game better. I don't recall when immunities on Hell were introduced, pretty sure that wasn't a thing in D2 vanilla, think that came with LOD 1.07
Also, lot of people who never played Diablo 2 on release don't know
emember that it was actually tough game.
"It will ruin the game!" people cried.
the crafted items look insanely fun. would be a sick alternative to runewords and uniques if they were adjusted a little
This was a great nostalgic video for me man.
Can you try one more bug: I remember that it was possible to imbue amulets and rings with charsi when they where crafted.
I remember buying bugged rings with like +28 skills to splitting arrows lol
its wild how close to perfect diablo 2 is. i swear to god, with just a few tweaks like the powerful crafting in this video. remove level difference from attack rating and instead make each lvl give you like +2 to base mele damage. and swap a high lvl rune modifier with teleport to open up new armor possibilities. nerf spirit so other shields become viable. fix some synergies. the possibilities become crazy...
