- Mister Manticore's "The Ningen' is a chilling, mysterious, and intriguing new series that's caught the attention of many, differing from his popular series "The Monument Mythos", yet still keeping the same charm of all his films have. Today, I analyze the series and give my thoughts and theories in this more than one hour long video that you should sit back and relax for. I hope you enjoy!

MONUMENT MYTHOS SPOILERS:
Noticed some very interesting details in the latest main episode ALCATRAZ, ALWAYS. I made a comment on the video with my theories and I also thought it had some cool similarities/connections to Ningen, I'll just copy paste my comment from that video lol ( will unpin when debunked XD ):
If I'm understanding this right, did they just reveal that Tree and Serpent were the Monument Monster and Debate Demon from the future the whole time?
1.) The two entered the ship which appears to be sucked by a black hole
2.) The next scene shows a black hole literally named Cronus the God of Time
3.) We see two white squiggly figures in the black hole
4.) The scene of Tree and Serpent plays directly after we zoom into the black hole and see those two figures
I think that those two figures in the black hole are MM and DD, possibly shifting forms to become Tree and Serpent, the way Washington became the Horned Serpent, because possibly this isn't a normal black hole, its a portal to Wonderland, explaining why the two shifted after entering. Then maybe through some wibbly wobbly timey wimey Wonderland stuff, they travel back to the beginning of time and MONUMENTMYTHOLOGY happens, creating all of existence, creating a time loop.
But if that's true, MM and DD are made of Alcatraz matter, which presumably means that everything they make (a.k.a literally everything) is also Alcatraz matter. People of present day might not just know it, as I remember it being said that Alcatraz matter is indistinguishable from normal matter, maybe because there is no difference in them at all. Maybe its so indistinguishable that even Alcatraz itself doesn't know that its consuming and replacing its own matter, sort of like the Ouroboros, a snake infinitely eating its own tail.
Also, MM & DD and Tree & Serpent are very thematically similar, it would make sense for them to be the same beings.
Monument Monster = Tree because it bends its head very similar to a Special Tree
and Debate Demon = Serpent, as we know that serpents are symbolic of the devil in the bible.
I'll throw a last tinfoil hat theory in here and say that somehow the Ningen series will connect with this as it also deals with beings that try to consume/fuse with humanity (also Mister Manticore seems to be joining all of his series together for the finale as he sort of teased Trinity Desk/American Anatomy being canon again, so why not add Ningen to top it all off). My bet is that some form of Alcatraz matter antics is happening there.

Personally, when we see ‘god’ talk to Keizo, I see the weird amongus looking ningen. You see it later (I’m pretty sure) in the video and it looks similar if not identical in silhouette, to me this means the amongus one is able to speak and perhaps was trying to lure Keizo

Oh nah dw it definitely looks like an Amongus HAHAHA the sussy impostor could be the one talking to Keizo because they definitely use the same picture as in the beginning of the episode, but what makes me think this is "God" is because why would they brighten out the image later on if they showed it in 4k at the start of the video, unless it means its two different characters maybe? Also i personally dont get how the among us could look like "just a man" when its very far from it lmao, unless its that "godlike" figure from the logo? But those are just my thoughts and I could be wrong, the amongus could definitely be the same as the talking glowing ningen lol

I think that end scene is the idea of the Ningen's "help" and the time loop come full circle. We know that the fleshy cube in the Zubov is some sort of stage of the Ningen and the story depicted of the red people mirrors the creation of Adam and Eve. I think that humanity is being completely recreated by the Ningen from the ground up and restarting all of history, hence the time loop. If that new trinity episode Mr. Manticore made was related, it makes even more sense. The new Ningen humanity is similar to the old, but different. Not exactly a repeat of history but rather an echo, slightly different.
Ohhh, I like that theory of that scene kinda meaning a lot of things at once! I was also shocked to see the first line in CRITICALITY and went oh shit what if this is connected to my ningen theory lmao😆, happy someone else caught that too! It'd be mindblowing for Ningen to actually be the prequel to the Trinity Desk Project. A small theory I have is that the time spiral goes Ningen - Trinity Desk Project - Monument Mythos, where the Ningen Cycle just slightly changes things in history at first with the Trinity Desk Project, until massive changes in history happen in succeeding time loops that lead to Monument Mythos. I also think that the Ningen series may have showed us a "timeline constant", or an event, being the Ningen Cycle, that is bound to happen in all time loops as it begins and ends humanity repeatedly, again slightly changing little things with every cycle. Definitely a reach but it would be an interesting way to connect all the series together!
@@ILBOI_X It would be cool if the Ningen somehow ties into some of Mr. Manticore's other work like Cornerfolk did - even as a standalone it's one of my favorites. I'm glad to see someone covering it!

After going through the first video again by watching this, I realized that part of the theming here is strangely climate change.
"Hell is real, and its cold"
"What happens when it becomes warm"
The news broadcast mentions that the expedition Funatsu participated in is no longer possible due to two of the ice shelves disappearing.
The "mountain humans" may be more accruately interpreted to be ningens living on a broken glacier. This would explain why one of them wants to escape and become like the whales, due to the limited land they can travel.
This forces a chain reaction of rapid evolutions, parodying our own nature to constantly reinvent ourselves, not knowing it will be humanity's undoing.
It is likely that this is a cycle between all "humans" undergo. A desire to keep going beyond until like Icarus, we fly too close to the sun.
Its a story about civilizations that become too ambitious and always fall, and the horrors that may spawn from that ambition.
Very insightful! I love how the series really could have a deeper meaning, warning the people of today of what can happen if we take these ambitions of ours too far

I thought that maybe the Ningen series would delve into evolution, mainly whales. Basically whales used to be small dog sized mice things to becoming what they are now by adaptation. So I thought that the adaptation of the human turning into a whale was linked to that, and maybe the whale and human-whale would become a better being similar to how symbiosis works. And one last note I thought that the adaptation would have been jumpstarted by free will, so basically everything on earth evolved how it did because of its own willpower.
Omg I also thought the series would delve into evolution but a little bit differently. I thought it would be about how our theories of originating from monkeys were all wrong and that we really came from these ancient ningen creatures and thats basically it. Turned out to be way more confusing than I anticipated lmao. I agree with you tho on free will seeming to be the cause for these evolutions! If left alone, it seems humans and animals would function as they do in real life, but with the willpower to go beyond, all these transformations occur.

I think the mountain story is my favorite. human to whale to creature (which looks like a spaceship imo) what is beyond the depths of the ocean?...space. what is beyond space? a world (unexplored) the creature lands on the world and is discovered, the cylindrical nature of the story could be time travel or a parallel world (which is a MM staple at this point)

I really like your theory of the Ningen creature possibly coming from a parallel world! It could definitely be a possibility as the part where the human goes deeper into the ocean is left kind of vague and open ended, and it would make sense with Mister Manticore's previous use of parallel worlds. Cool theory!
Really great video, The Ningen is one of my favourite things Mister Manticore has ever made so it was really nice to have an analysis about it and it helped me understand some things about the series that I never really understood on my first watch. Overall great video and theories and it makes me wish that Mister Manticore makes more of this series once the current season of Monument Mythos is over because there’s still some potential to be done with it. So yeah great job!

The most unique analog horror I ever watch
Yess, there isn't any other like it imo
I have a smaller theory based on what we saw in the existing episodes.
It esencialy puts icarus 1 (the mountain skeleton) to be a stage 2 ningen (like icarus 2) and more specificaly a transition from stage 2 to stage 3 (the flying spine ningen).
As we can see the mountain skeleton not resemble the smaller stage 1 ningen, however i see more resemblance towards the stage 2 ningen, and in my theory as the stage 2 ningen want to become more evolved it goes on a mountain, there it almost dies, but not fully as the spine remains the last body part that is alive, then as the body decomposes and the bones get weathered the spine is strong enought to break off the body, relasing a stage 3 ningen.
Another thing is that i am interested in is what next video will use as a inspiration to tell the story, as in each episode we can see that the ningen have resulted in world stories to being made, the first episode shows us the ningen as real creatures, the second episode shows the story of icarus and the large japaneese skeleton yokai, and the third shows us the the story of eve and adam (which is further reinforced as in some versions eve is made from the rib of adam which is kind of shown in the episode.

I don't really think the "red humans" scene implied the creation of humanity or a "adam and eve" analague to the ningens. Instead, it likely represents what happened to the crew of professor zubov, with the red rectangle thing representing the "human factory" (like the shot of the giant fleshy pulsating mass in the camera footage). Since most of those camera shots involve around the theme or central creature or subject of each video, it's more likely that the camera shot of that flesh mass was intentionally put there to give us an idea on how to interpret those drawings.
I also think that those drawings represented the "creation" of ningen copies of the crew, ultimately the next stage of their evolution : humankind (or atleast a copy which is funny since that coincides with how God/ningens created humans in their own image).
And finally I think they also represent how hugo was "born" (again, a lot in the video alluded to that twist like keizo mentioning that he was ready to have a son right after the expedition and hugo basically ripping his head off while reading his fathers journal)

The image itself yeah lmao, but I think it might implying that white figure from the beginning still. Firstly cause why would they blur out/ hide the image of the two legged ningen when they saw it and revealed it to us in the beginning of that same episode? Also if that was the two legged ningen, I wouldn't get how Keizo would refer to it as "just a man" as it kinda looks far from one from the images we see. That's just what I think, but again I could be wrong 😆
This is a really great theory and headcanon, a lot of convincing evidence but I think you do have some stretches in the base of it. Not sure I'm fully bought in but I love seeing someone's analysis on this amazing set of videos ☺️

40:33 i think this can be backed up from the words, 'help' written on the soviet boat that came back. as if there asking for more people to come and be consumed so that the ningen can grow, because it has already been stated that the 'help' written on the boat was asking for aid
Ohh thats true! To my knowledge tho, the 'help' on the ship meant something along the lines of 'we will help you' instead of 'we need help' as explained by Hugo, possibly an attempt to lure more people in. But either way, you are right that 40:33 could be backed up by that as maybe a stage 2 used the ship as lure, consumed people to get to stage 3, then fused with the ship to become stage 4.
Personally, compared to all other universes and stuff Alex had made, the Ningen seems to be the most chill. While yes there are the horrible Ningens, a lot of them seem to be chill except for the one who attacked. And in the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't change much compared to the apocalypse that happened in the MM universe. The Soviets could have easily destroyed the ship and set fire on it to kill the monster inside. The Gen 4 humans seem to not be much of a threat as they genuinely seem to be normal people. At most, governments who knew about the Ningen's existence would quietly monitor and attempt to protect global shipping routes all the while studying the Ningens.
I really agree! It feels nice and refreshing to have more of a grounded story contained in a single region, rather than have the whole world/universe at stake.

Great theories! I haven’t seen anyone talk about this series before. I do have to mention that you kinda glossed over something I think might be important. In the first drawing sequence at the start of it, only one has the color red in its head. And the Ningen also has this red head. All of that denotes that this person was a stage five but the other people weren’t. But that could just mean that those people have not realized what they are and what they can do. As we saw that stage five come from stage four which has the same color as the stage five we saw before. Maybe the time loop in the first sequence, the stage one is trying to change the out come somehow to achieve stage two. And maybe the events we see is the success of changing the outcome? Honestly idk but all I’m trying to say is the the color red is important in this story

also something with Monument Mythos , Chtonaught A told the Angel to split itself till it can't no more and it's "ashes" landed in multiple universes , what if a few particles landed in the Ningen Universe ?
Cool theory! To my knowledge though, Angel's particles trickled through the fabric of time in its own universe instead of scatter into other universes, but that could still be possible as Cthonaut A was able to convey data across universes, making cross-universe travel possible!

If people are ningen, how would they know? And how are they just able to fuse with each other?
I guess they wouldn't know until their wish to go beyond transforms them into an animal/they find out about their true nature through historic documents like the cave paintings or deep research like the ones being conducted in Antarctica.
As for fusing, it appears that an animal/human-turned-animal has to again have the wish to go beyond and match with another animal/human-turned-animal with the same wish and combine to evolve to the next stage.
Without the wish to go beyond though, I think that all humans and animals will remain the same as they do in real life and act "naturally". But these are all just my theories and speculation :)

I really liked that one as well! but Mister Manticore often unlists/deletes a lot of his videos for unknown reasons/just not liking the videos themselves. Its a real shame it happens as I love all of his projects but ofc I respect that its his art and he can do whatever he wants with them.

@@WobblesandBean it's prophetic and hints at a cycle of repeating events. Long ago humans found the Ningen and painted their experience in a cavern. Years later the antarctic expedition happens and they find yet again a Ningen. It's like they want to be found and are actively luring humans using their own corpses.
