I'm glad I"m not the only one who comes back to TB's videos for some nostalgia. I literally grew up watching up him at my house, and I can still hear his sarcastic and cynical British voice!
@EarlyCuts6 There'll be 4 raids at launch in Cataclysm, Blackwing Descent, Bastion of Twilight, Throne of the Four Winds and the VoA-style Baradin Hold one. Firelands has been delayed, it may or may not make it in live. Size-wise.. uncertain, but at least 2 of those raids have 6 bosses. WoW Wiki keeps changing it's mind on the matter.
@heero854 Hmm, I've checked in the back and I found some more HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR that had been accidently mislabelled as DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Oh, on the topic of the second boss, Helix. You missed a mechanic of the boss fight as a result of the dissconect. His cry of "Oaf Smash!" just before you disconnected is an indication that the lumbering oaf is about to pick up the tank and smash him into a wall. A move that does a lot of spike damage, perhaps that is the kind of extra mechanic you need for that boss as it would require some quick healing to keep the tank alive once the boss returns to attacking normally.
I'm really looking forward to a video of Shadowfang Keep; it's always been a favourite of mine, both the layout and mob packs. A lot of cc, some easy packs to blast through and a need to keep an eye on line of sight (especially as a healer). I hope they manage to keep it all working as well in the new version. Great video as always, thanks.
@phazon55 if ive understood correctly, infernals dont dismiss the demon u had up before summoning it, and it will assist u 45sec before it disappears. check mmo-champion for details..
As a non vanilla player one good thing I can say about Naxx 2.0 is being able to actually experience it at all. Obviously without being able to make the comparison between the two instances I can't comment on it ruining the first one, however getting to play it at all I would say is a bonus for a large group of players.
@TheMightOfChina It's the Guardian of Ancient Kings. A pally cooldown that summons a little guardian angel to help you kill/heal/tank stuff depending on your spec.
As a long time hunter, I MISS kiting. This makes me rather excited for Cata. Some challenging heroics, having to be awake, and... god, needing some teamwork. This looks excellent. I'm tired of sleeping my way through ICC.
The Molten Slag have a fixate, you don't try to tank them with the vehicle, you just stun/dps it. The person with the fixate debuff kites the Slag away from the group while the person in the vehicle kills it.
@TotalHalibut I thought Cataclysm was supposed to get rid of the "tank dies in two hits" mechanic. You said that the oafs can take the tank to half health in one hit. With healing costing a ridiculous amount of mana, this seems to be brutal, and not what Blizz said they were going to do with this expansion.
I don't really feel like reading all of the posts to see if this has been said before, but when you say that horde haven't done Deadmines and vice versa for SFK (and I agree that some haven't if they're original toons w/ no alts), that's not really correct. Thanks to the dungeon finder tool, both factions end up doing RFK, SFK, Deadmines, and Stocks rather frequently. Only the quest lines remain faction specific.
The thing that caught my attention with the for lack of a better phase dungen that hasn't been observed yet, but yet, they dungen observer can get you in their w/o the run. So in other words, its not hard to get into it from eather side.
@HelPup Actually I lied, I didn't just cancel. I cancelled, bought another WoW box for like £5, created an RAF guild, levelled to 60 and did Molten Core. Anything to avoid going back into Naxxramus.
As I'm watching this video I remembered I haven't made a low level Alliance character that went through Elwynn or Westfall in years. The music made me nostalgia hardcore. Deadmines was the first instance I ever ran...and now I have to make a new Alliance toon to go through it again, for the music, the experience and just as a final harrah before Cata.
@TotalHalibut I love your beta videos and I have been watching them since the Cata beta came out. They provide me with all the information I need about the beta as well as make me laugh at times. However I was just wondering what type of videos do you do normally ( when there is no beta to be testing ). Thanks
@mikal14 [Sarcasm] Because that is the only buff Paladins can use anymore come Cataclsym.[Sarcasm] This has been covered at length, patch notes are your friend. Go read them.
@totalhalibut , there is a difference between hard mechanics, and near unlosable mechanics. I personally like the OCCASIONAL easy boss, not because its faceroll, but because they have kinda fun mechanics. For instance, the raid Kharazan (yes i know its a raid, but the principle is the same) The chess event was fairly hard to lose, but fun all the same. Do you not agree?
Would love to hear more about why you think Naxx 2.0 was bad. I'm a casual raider who only started a full-fledged WoW character after Wrath came out, so I don't know how the two versions compare. I tried looking at the old BluePlz archives but I can't seem to download anything. Maybe I should just subscribe?
So TotalBiscuit. I hear lots of your comments about Cataclysm. But what do you think of Cataclysm overall? Do you think it will be a good expansion? Better than WotLK or even TBC? Or have I forgotten about a certain comment from your side which answered this already?
This Westfall music really reminds me of some of the music from Guild Wars. Looks like a great instance though, good to see they didn't take the cop-out option and simply copy+pasta the instance and tune it up a bit.
TB now whilst your levelling up any alt with access to the LFG system you can now go to any dungeon so the access thing is a none subject anymore because its just a couple clicks of a mouse to get to any dungeon anywhere, level specific ofc.
Not to troll, but just to point out that in Wrath, as I have been painfully reminded recently - Alone in the Darkness (and I would argue also One Light on 10-man) cannot be out-geared (as of yet anyway). You're right though, most things in Wrath can be.
Another way to look at reusing the dungeon is as a progression of the story. going back to see what the result of us killing the Bosses was, instead of the odd sort of instance boss immortality, where it doesn't matter how many times you kill a boss they stay alive and the story there never moves forward. We did see them start to go in this direction with Wrath with the resurrection of Argul, but I like that they are taking it a step further and updating the instances.
@CroGameZone no, quite different. I haven't done a raid myself, but from what i know, they are essentially, raids are large group battles against much more challanging foes, that would be impossible for any player on their own. Dungeons are just 5 players going through a short instance, unlike raids, with just 5 players, they are not too challenging, so they added heroic dungeons, which are level 60+ dungeons that require more skill to complete.
Heroics are level 70, level 80, and level 85. Generally max level. Wouldn't do heroics til 85 though, usually the greens are equal or better than heroic gear from previous content. (tbc
Hey Biscuit, can you find a way to increase the volume in your videos? When my family is awake I have to turn my computer's volume to max and still have to use headphones to hear it.
They removed the Fire Elementals in the Foe Reaper 5000 fight, right? Got very confused when I saw this video first, and then had the fight myself, ran down and like: "Crap, where is it?!" Guess I need to read the Patch notes more often.
Wasn't buzzer blade on the goblin dude? Ogre was a neat 2 handed mace :D Looks like the second boss is brand new, so I suppose the first two boss' gear have been combined. Seems they are going are going for fun and nostalgia, which is exactly what a redo of old dungeons should be. With the LFG tool, horde have done Deadmines and Allies have done SFK, so its more of a nostalgia trip for everyone :D
Are those just placeholder models for the green/blue armor (i certainly hope/think so), or is blizzard really this damn lazy that they use the same models as in wotlk? Oh, and by the way, thanks for all the effort you putin this. It's much appreciated ;)
I ran this heroic earlier today. Did a raid, and the new dungeons, and thought hey, why not... The group sucked soo hard. I was the healer, barely lost any mana and kept everyone up to the end. We got to the gauntlet event and they ran through the fire, got hit by ice, and ran around crazily during the spider nightmare. I kept them up, but come on! How much worse could you be?
hey tb do you know if they are converting any tbc heroics to 85 dungeons? i think it would be great to let newer players experience heroic tbc because no one does them any more as they are useless now.
05:00 Buzzer Blade is actually the same as in live (My rogue has two Buzzer Blades) Also, the music is almost the same as Elwynn Forest's music in live.
@SkoobaSteve32 They said they were having everyone around the same HP. And that they were putting mass amounts of stamina on the gear. So yeah, everyones going to have lots of health, but enemies are going to hit ridiculously hard.
@KrazyK923 The original Naxx introduced a lot of mechanics that were recycled in BC and Wrath, but at the time they were new. Keep in mind you didn't test dungeons on the PTR then like now, add-ons were limited. The first guilds who stepped in to Naxx were more or less stepping in to the dark. Managing 40 people, gear heavy (As all end-game should be), and mostly new mechanics. My point was that there weren't many that were pure gear dependent and faceroll otherwise like you act.
Was this out before shattering and lvl 85, cause those items look like blues like Eternally Folded Blade and the shield from that skelly serpent boss...
I wouldn't have expected Blizz to completely revamp the terrains inside Deadmines, since even if this had been a real-life event, the people who would have come in wouldn't think to themselves "Everything has to change!", they'd adopt it for its previous purpose (a mine) and continue using it as such. Which they are.
Heroic BRD and RFC would be petty sweet, considering ragefire chasm has been changed a tad bit. Idk about BRD because I've never seen beta footage of it.
Man... Deadmines was my all time favorite instance back when i played WoW... also the first instance I ever went to.. (on a side note MC was my favorite raid... idk but for some reason these 2 were my fav... not sure if its bc of the content, or just bc they were my first ones...)
Really pleased to hear you're not against the idea of "fun" HCs. While I agree that it would be nice in general if bosses are harder it's also nice to have a mix between hard bosses, fun bosses and "easy" bosses. Although Hard fun bosses would obviously be best. And an instance just full of easy bosses is no good (vortex pinnacle) but just having one easier one in an instance (Stonecore) isn't bad in my opinion.
@Liquidace666 Is there an easy way to get used to moving while pressing the keybinds? Im just having trouble with it because I have to use a finger to do a certain keybind.
@TotalHalibut I completely agree, when I said it WAS a good introduction, I meant it - Naxx was a harbinger of a lot of the raids we would get in Wrath. Not Ulduar, though. I adored Ulduar. Such an awesome raid instance. I particularly like how they crafted the hard modes into the encounters, so you didn't have to select Heroic mode between bosses to fight them on harder difficulties. Very organic feeling. Naxx did suck. Not only for itself, but also for the attitude it fostered.
@Clovions so you are doubting I did naxx 1.0 why? Not that it matters but how do you call naxx shit? It's alot of fun. Interesting boss fights, even if at this point you overgear the entire raid ridiculously. But Naxx 2.0 came out almost 2 years ago at this point, what do u expect?
Your troll appears to be ice-skating when you move diagonally. Is this a one off issue that is effecting you at the time, or have Blizzard broken diagonal movement animations?
increase the speed of the fire wheel a little, and make the falling ice rain faster and more often than one at a time. Maybe that would make it a little difficult without having to add in new mechanics.
To respond to the people that are wondering what the gold mob is at 14:56, it's the paladin's new spell. Something about a guardian, I forget the name. For ret it does dmg, for prot it like..puts on a shield or soemthing(idc about prot^^) and for holy it heals the group.
You have to realize that this is not designed for your level. Normal-mode Deadmines will be the exact same thing but not as hard in terms of health, damage and maybe some abilities. Deadmines is mostly for level 10-20 characters.
@Jaakress In the new stuff maybe yes but in the current content you don't, it just throws up dungeons that are specific to your level. Like at lvl 30ish atm with my hunter i'm doing the SM dungeons but never been there on the character yet, never been to any of eastern kingoms on the charac yet.
@TheDean2110 nah it's a paladin skill; which, once active, stays on your side for a few seconds and gives you a bonus to whatever spec you're in. The bonuses should be found somewhere using google :3
@ezcobarez123 Weapons still have spellpower on them in Cata. This ws done in order to make them a major boost for caster DPS/HPS like the weapons are for melee classes. That, of course, requires quite a bit of SP and adding that intense amount of spellpower in pure intellect form would have made the manapools ridiculously large in very short time.
@Dalle89 Not all Goblins are part of the Horde now, you do realise this? Goblins are sorta like Trolls, they have various factions and sects, like the Sandfury Trolls, Whither-bark trolls etc. Only the Darkspear Trolls are part of the Horde, as with the Goblins, only the goblins of Kazan are part of the Horde. Other goblins are either Neutral or Hostile. Besides, not every race is part of a faction. You could argue 'Why are you killing humans as Alliance?' There just pirates or every race :P
I had the privilege of grouping with TB during the cataclysm beta on two occasions. RIP John
Man i miss this dude :(
I'm glad I"m not the only one who comes back to TB's videos for some nostalgia. I literally grew up watching up him at my house, and I can still hear his sarcastic and cynical British voice!
That is what I'm doing right now. Those days of wrath and cata wow were pretty awesome, I wish I could go back and experience it all again.
True TB is my 2nd favorite english teacher I wish he was around
I always come back to random totalbiscuit cataclysm guides just to hear his voice and his commentary. R.I.P
I bet TB would've loved to play classic wow if he had lived to summer 2019 :(
Dude, was my favorite childhood youtuber. I found him when i was 12 I'm now 22.

Cancer. He went because of cancer.

@CynderSide Yup. Grabbed one from Heroic ToT before I came to DM. Just one boss, not worth filming, they were just finishing things off there.
@seigaru830 What does that have to do with The Deadmines, or is this 'ask TotalBiscuit random irrelevant questions day?'
@Tyrish Not a clue, never made it into normal mode.
@Terramagu Yeah it does, Stockades has been revamped in a pretty major way.
Oh, on the topic of the second boss, Helix. You missed a mechanic of the boss fight as a result of the dissconect. @Xellros If this is the best they've got, I don't think I've got anything to worry about.

Not sure if it'll work but you should be able to use a Mechanical Repair Kit from Wrath to repair the cannons.
@TotalHalibut I thought Cataclysm was supposed to get rid of the "tank dies in two hits" mechanic. You said that the oafs can take the tank to half health in one hit. @Grug16 Last I checked I couldn't raid in Brood War.

@Frally123
AQ20 will become a 10man raid, but it's still level 60. Nothing else changed, just the raid size.
@shasato i think thats the new pally spell thing. the one where they get a temporary pet that helps them with w/e thier spec is.
@CHIPINATORs It is the paladins level 85 skill. It does different things depening on the paladins spec
So TotalBiscuit. I hear lots of your comments about Cataclysm. But what do you think of Cataclysm overall? Do you think it will be a good expansion? Better than WotLK or even TBC? Or have I forgotten about a certain comment from your side which answered this already?

Geez, I'm getting anxious watching all of your vids. I can't wait till it is finally released.
I saw it a few times in there... What on Azeroth is that bright, shining holy version of Demonology Warlock's Metamorphasis Demon form?
Not to troll, but just to point out that in Wrath, as I have been painfully reminded recently - Alone in the Darkness (and I would argue also One Light on 10-man) cannot be out-geared (as of yet anyway). You're right though, most things in Wrath can be.

Did anyone notice that blur of the environment around 7:45? Everything blurred except for the GUI. Is that a debuff or something?
@CroGameZone no, quite different. I haven't done a raid myself, but from what i know, they are essentially, raids are large group battles against much more challanging foes, that would be impossible for any player on their own.

@Thunterise Cataclysm is the best expansion they've ever made.
@TotalHalibut hey i love your vids.....i was wondering what is the first raid suposed to be and are they going to release it into the beta?
@ TotalHalibut
What do you use to make your videos? Planning on making some myself.
rip halibut, thank you and i wish the family well
TB you are my freaking hero !! that is all have a nice day and i hope cata brings back the good heroic and raiding like back in the days.

@swedishair The deadmines can be played at the normal level, just with the option for 85's to do a heroic version for themselves.
Wait, TB played on MY realm? I know those two: Wakez and Seryrn. They ninja-pulled in Uldum by accident and I got angry at them.
Just a question: Do you prefer Fire or Arcane? Because I've seen you use both in your videos.
hey tb do you know if they are converting any tbc heroics to 85 dungeons? i think it would be great to let newer players experience heroic tbc because no one does them any more as they are useless now.

what was the shiny golden angelish thing i saw at 2:44? A new spell for pallys/priests?
@KrazyK923
The original Naxx introduced a lot of mechanics that were recycled in BC and Wrath, but at the time they were new. Your troll appears to be ice-skating when you move diagonally. Is this a one off issue that is effecting you at the time, or have Blizzard broken diagonal movement animations?
That vehicle mechanic on the last boss where you have to hold off the elementals reminds me of the ghost thing from Gorefiend in BT.
at 14:56 there is a golden angel spell. Is that a player spell or a enemy spell? and if so what is it called?
Havent even started it but i know its goin to be good since its deadmines my favorite instance
wasn't foe reaper 5000 a rare mob outside of moonbrook?
Don't know for sure but wasn't Foe Reaper 5000 a rare that spawned in Westfall?
The name is kinda familiar to me
TB just one question... In the intro what is it your saying? Epic?
I didn't look to see if this has been asked yet or not but what that thing at 15:00 is in the pack. Looked like a Valk or something.
increase the speed of the fire wheel a little, and make the falling ice rain faster and more often than one at a time. Maybe that would make it a little difficult without having to add in new mechanics.
I see alot of the armor in these vids looks like quest gear from Wotlk, do you know if they are just place holders?
are the original versions of these classic dungeons available for low levels still?
@Cevain511
its the new paladin skill, ancient guardian or something, it boosts healing, defence or dps
@shanoamg07 Are you aware of the fact that you can bind F12 to your G keys on your G15 keyboard for example?
@TheDean2110
nah it's a paladin skill; which, once active, stays on your side for a few seconds and gives you a bonus to whatever spec you're in.
The bonuses should be found somewhere using google :3
How does it work with the new stats and all that? Is it better when you get used to it?
Literally just in time for my dinner, thanks for giving me something to watch while I eat :)
TB. Could you please explain me what the angel like thing (shown @ 14:56) is? =)
@ezcobarez123 Weapons still have spellpower on them in Cata. This ws done in order to make them a major boost for caster DPS/HPS like the weapons are for melee classes. That, of course, requires quite a bit of SP and adding that intense amount of spellpower in pure intellect form would have made the manapools ridiculously large in very short time.
hey mate what time it still needs to be upload? :D ps awsome vid as always :>
My guess is that the reaper vehicle is better used by a melee dps, likely it uses melee hit and that kind of jabber.
@legatotheone
having just done the instance no there are no spawning pats after the boss dies
