I love your videos. I've done several updates to my Rebel based on what you've done and your recommendations. Thanks so much for doing these vids. I do have a request, though. Could you include the actual "wrenching" in your videos? Watching how you actually do the work is invaluable for those of us that are novices.
I literally just ordered the same struts and 5100 rear shocks from a different vendor earlier today. Wish you had posted this video yesterday. I would have ordered through the same vendor you did and would have gotten the 5160s for only $50 more. 🤦🏻♂️ Anyways, great video as usual
Huh... I have never thought about using a ratchet strap. I just pull the caliper and hang it out of the way. Don't think I'll change my ways, but it's interesting to see the job done a different way.
Yup, I have heard horror stories of folks hyper extending the cv and causing all sorts of issues. The strap keeps things in check and I can lower it at my own pace.
Based on the various suspensions you have had on this Rebel …. Looking for an opinion. I too, like a minimal 3/4” rake and the minimal lift you accomplished. For a primarily street driven 2019 Rebel, rare if any hard dirt road, used to tow car trailer 2X/yr which suspension set up would you recommend. Suspension, upper control arms(if needed), shocks, tire and rim(offset). Looking to level my truck and maintain on road manners. I do not mind a little stiffer ride but I have that “family” thing to deal with as you did. LOL.
FYI currently running Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T in stock size (nice aggressive looking hybrid tire). Looking to get custom rims & tire combo once suspension is done.
The 6112 and 5160's are really hard to beat. They lift the truck nicely and maintain a beautiful ride. The cost is also tough to beat when you consider Fox or Kings. If I were to look at any other kit, it would be the Fox as I've heard the ride is great with that kit but again the price is a bit higher.
Thanks. So 6112/5160 lifts/levels and has better road ride than the 5100’s & Motofab kit for a truck that sees 99% on road? Perfect. I too like the slight 3/4” rake. Checked out the Carli kits….. seems well designed but their “commuter kit” for mostly on road is $2400. Yikes Guy in this thread stated he did same 6112/5160 setup as yours but swapped rear coils for the Carli HD Rebel versions. Carli says those are only needed if you keep 500# toolbox etc in bed at all times or may have Ram boxes that are filled. You mentioned Fox kits but I feel the 6112/5160 with new front springs will serve me well. One recommendation I can make regarding tires is the Mickey Thompson Baja A/T. (NOT the Baja M/T) Aggressive looking enough for a Rebel, quiet on road regarding noise and 3PMSF snow rated. Even in stock size looks like I have larger tires due to aggressive side biters. In the past I heard alot of positive comments on the Mickey Thompson Fun Country’s and their long tread life. These are the replacement tires using the same compound but quieter tread design for on Road use. Since I purchased mine, they now have a Baja Legend Exp hybrid tire that may even be better suited for the street.
Last question. Going with 6112/5160 combo after your response. Also will get the sway bar links you installed. Do you feel the rough country upper control arms will work? Saw you had problem with ball-end on fab-techs. Or should I just go with the core4x4. Looking to set up same as yours. In NY
Can you please tell me what size tires you have and what’s the measurement from the floor to the front fender with the 5100’s from your other video. Was it 1.8” plus the extra inch the rebel springs provide? I have a bighorn but thinking of going with rebel front couple and 5100’s but on the fence about tire size…34 or 35’s. Thanks and Great videos
Hey bud, I know you go over it in the video, but maybe I wasn't following carefully enough, so I have a question. Is your ride hide only achieved with the 1" rear spacer? Would you be able to achieve a similar 3/4" or smaller rake without the spacer by putting the front on a lower clip? Any estimation on how much ride hide you lose by using clip 6 or 7? Thanks if you get the chance to reply, I've watched your videos to death and am finally ready to install some parts on my '19 Rebel. Trying to decide if this more expensive system is the option for me, or if I want to achieve a more levelled look with the 5100s.
yup, if you don't raise the front as much, you can retain some of the rake without the need for a rear spacer. The bilstein instructions show your final heights for each position. I would hop into those and check the estimated final heights for your truck. There are different heights for trucks with and without the ORP springs.
On your rear 5160 shocks what was the torque spec for the top shaf nut and the bottom bolt nut ? Thank you for the info in advance , BTW sadden to see you go with a new truck good luck I will still follow you I been an avid follower thank you again.
Any idea how I could lower mine? I'm a new Ram Rebel 2022 owner and I need 2inch lower to reach my parking garage clearance. I know it would look dumb.. ☹️ but my truck got stolen recently so I need to do this.. please let me know if you have an idea how to lower a Ram rebel 5th gen. I've been told it's not possible.
You could replace your springs with non-ORP springs which will give you a 1" drop. You can also check out the MaxTrac website which sells lowering kits for these trucks.
This kit is much softer than the Fabtech kit. The Fabtech is a purpose built off road coilover over where as this bilsteins are much softer and slow speed bumper friendly.
I have the 6112s already just need to get some UCAs and figured the fabtech was a decent option with the whole kit since I still have OEM rear shocks, i can save a few pennies by picking up the rear shocks and some new UCAs. I saw one comment you posted about rough country, would they be the 3-3.5in ones?
The 5100 and 5160 says that the lift is 0-1" for rear shocks on the Rebel and Off-Road package 1500 trucks. How is the lift switched between 0 and 1 inch?
Hay how’s everything going I’m upgrading my suspension to the 6112 and the rear like you did I was on the forums and saw after market front axles do you think it’s necessary there supposedly heavy duty and slightly longer if you need the link let me know
I heard about those too, I am not currently running those longer CVs but if one of mine goes bad, I may pick up the extended ones as replacements from Trakmotive
The 6112 has a larger shock body meaning more oil volume which helps with cooling. This reduces damper fade. Its not something most of us will see in normal daily driving but when you are moving quickly off-road, things will heat up. The 6112 also better rebounding due to its valving so it can handle quite a bit more off road.
I'm assuming 35's on there. My main question is when do you wanna put mine on and how mich do you want. I can work oit staying at a hotel while you take your time with it.
Since the rebel is already lifted 1" and now we are adding 2 more inches, UCA's are very important. I tried the Rough Country UCAs before the Fabtech and both did great. Price-wise you cannot beat the RC aluminum forged UCAs.
I got the same set up. Ended up getting Carli rebel HD sprigs in the rear for a 1.25 inch rake

I will try to include that as I move forward
Great video and thanks for the discount coupon code. I just ordered mine yesterday after watching your video.

That looks pretty slick... I think I'll be going thay route.

Nice job!
I’ve been looking at the same kit. Looks great!

I you have the $$ the core 4x4’s are hard to beat, other wise the RC UCAs should be find

103 foot pounds!
Thanks for following the channel!
What size wheels and tires are you running with this set up?
285/65-20 tires on 20x9 wheels with O mm offset
did you ditch the 5100's for the 6112's just to have a beefier setup, or did the 5100's give you issues in the front?
6112s give you a full 2” lift on rebels where the 5100’s did not. Also a tad better ride on 6112’s especially at speed
Any idea how I could lower mine? I'm a new Ram Rebel 2022 owner and I need 2inch lower to reach my parking garage clearance. Yup the forged aluminum rc UCAs are nice
Thanks for all the help!
How are you liking these over the last few months vs what you have had thus far?
They are still my favorite suspension set up on this truck. The ride quality is amazing
Thoughts on the ride? I have the 6112's on clip 8 and find it a bit harsh. Going to drop it to 7 or 6 or switch to Fox
The ride is excellent in my opinion.
The 5100 and 5160 says that the lift is 0-1" for rear shocks on the Rebel and Off-Road package 1500 trucks. How is the lift switched between 0 and 1 inch?
You need to add a spacer, the shocks can accommodate an extra 1" of lift but you need a spacer to actually provide the lift.

What’s the difference when off roading between the factory bilsteins and the 6112?

Its not something most of us will see in normal daily driving but when you are moving quickly off-road, things will heat up. Are all the new kits with black stickers? website shows blue stickers still. Would rather have the black personally.
No idea
How would you compare the 5100s to the 6112s?
6112 were worth the upgrade. If you can swing it, go with 6112's. The ride is so much better
I'm assuming 35's on there. My main question is when do you wanna put mine on and how mich do you want. I can work oit staying at a hotel while you take your time with it.
Hah, sorry man, the only trucks I touch are my own! Find a mom and pop shop and they'll be able to knock it out easily.
Bill-stine sixty one twelve.
toMAto tomato
Did you lose any lift between the Fabtech and 6115?
Yup, went down 1” in the front
@@WaterFowler41 Good to know thanks for the insight man!
what size lift do you have front and rear. Also which clip perch did you use to achieve level
Perch 8 in the front for 2” of lift and a 1” spacer in the rear with factory springs
@@WaterFowler41 Im looking to accomplish a 2.5 in the front so not sure if these are gonna work for me?
Could you run this set up with the factory UCA, or do you still need an aftermarket one, and if so which aftermarket UCA would you recommend?
Since the rebel is already lifted 1" and now we are adding 2 more inches, UCA's are very important. I tried the Rough Country UCAs before the Fabtech and both did great. Price-wise you cannot beat the RC aluminum forged UCAs.
Seen you take off the vararam cai any negative reason why?
No negative reasons whatsoever, traded it for a kayak when covid was shutting everything down and all I could do was fish.
What rear springs are you running?
Factory orp springs
Will the Bilstein 6112/5160 Kit fit my Ram 2016 1500Hemi 4x4?
You’ll have to check the part numbers. I can only tell you it will fit the 5th gen rams 2019+
What was wrong with fabtech?
I cover that in the end of the video!
Is the website legit?
Yes
